So I am trying to expand my horizons and start working on some truly amazing builds! At least I hope so lol. So I have been working hard converting over a Station from the workshop: GIA Solaris C02 - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1455171499 Not much is really left of this base other than the shape inspired me to build a station! I am putting all kinds of bells and whistles in it! This isn't just another space station, it will be an experience! So here is some of the early works of the ZeroG Gamma Station. Again early stuff here as I tend to change change change all kinds of things. But the shape and overall look is starting to give me some feels!
Did someone mention a short while ago that texturing is a pain in the arse? Well, I am still finding areas in my base that beg for mercy NOT getting textured.
That gives me an idea, make a "fleet build" We already know that CV's do not calculate structural integrity, and that you can have floating blocks in CV builds. Why not do a CV build that included a companion ship floating off to the side? .... or 3, or 4, etc. Hmmm... I'm trying to figure out an easy way to merge CV builds. Maybe use the mergestructs command to merge them and then the cut and paste tool to detach them? - edit - .... nix that idea, the command only works on BA's. Any other idea on how we could easily do that with existing builds? ... or do you think we are going to need to build the companion ships from the ground up?
Oho! Project Deadalus is going well! As you might know That massive CV you have seen is part one of it. The second part is the Base Portion and the reason I bring that up is that is where I have been spending more of my time lately. I am throwing all kinds of crazy at this Base. Which is also a reason I haven't uploaded anything lately. Along with a few other projects as well. I'll start posting photos of this at a later date. Not really ready to show it off just yet. You know competitive Manufacturers love getting those juicy ZeroG secrets so no leaks just yet! But I need to keep my mind fresh and full of ideas. So this Gamma Station I started working on the other day is giving me more and more ideas! So other projects will be on pause while this is finished up. So here we are the ZeroG Gamma station. I have my ZeroG Cargo Modules that are able to dock up to the Gamma station. So now both Atlas-X and Charon-X make a bit more sense now! Atlas-X: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1411004810 Charon-X: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1357426170 Added a larger hanger door for slightly larger SV's . This also goes right to the repair bay as well. Exterior is starting to come along, been focusing more on the interiors after getting the new hanger door installed. So far this is 6 levels high. The upper 3 levels will be for public use. The bottom 3 will be for ZeroG only Sorry! Level 1 - Access to upper landing pads, Airlock access, Medical and Repair and O2 stations. Level2 - Main floor, shops and Transporters located here Level 3 - Interior Hanger bay Level 4 - ZeroG level: Shipping and Recieving, ZeroG Offices. Level 4 - Gravity and power control room Level 5 - Core and exterior catwalk access Or this could all change I really can't be 100% at this moment. But so far so good!
That's easy, just copy and paste one CV onto another. Then just move it away from the other CV. Then just rinse and repeat as many times as you can! Of course they will all share the same everything so device limits and such will still be there. Also not quite sure how great a "Fleet of connected ships" like that would actually handle. But hey Science! ---So I just tried it out with 6 of my Python-X SV's. This works quite well! You would need to revisit handling and such and landing would be awkward. But was rather fun to try out! @Jenniphurr your Project "DEADALUS" poked me somewhere too as I collected, some while ago, a few pictures of Ships that are a composition of several to form one.... if that sounds to weird I show you a picture of one of the candidates: Some sort of CV with 3 outside attached SVs of the same shape
You can copy from one CV and paste it onto another? I think I will need to try that out. Today I restored some retired blueprints from backup and worked on updating them. When I thought of the fleet idea I decided the old (retired) mobile spawn point CV's would make good "escort" ships. (I had retired and deleted them after HV's gained the ability to have clone chambers and med stations.) I have been thinking about making them "escorts" for the Cerulean Star.
Here is the result I came up with, the "escorts" are actually part of the main ship. I used their interiors to hide additional fuel/O2 tanks and the gravity generator. Cerulean Star (fleet)
That's such a neat idea! Could be used for NPC freighters, too. Though I suppose it might be weird if you knock out engines on one ship and the whole group keeps going.
Whats ironic, I made a suggestion in the "Blocks and Devices wish list" thread to add the HV's docking pads to the CV landing gear. I never thought I would have a build that would benefit from that suggestion so soon. If we had "docking pad" lading gears I could put those on the hovering vessels so it would look like their landing gear was still retracted when the ship was on the ground. I guess I need to figure out a way to make faux landing gear using blocks, because that extended landing gear looks goofy.
What did I do in Empyrion today? Why uploaded Cerberus-X of course! Enjoy! Cerberus-X:https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1575705007 one more shot as I really like the top down view!
Today I finished updating the 3 escort vessels from the Cerulean Star fleet build and published them as separate builds. The 3 escorts were geared down to make them viable as starter CV's and they are fully functional. Escort 1 Escort 2 Escort 3 ... yes, escort 3 is a stripped-down version of the Micro Miner and Salvage vessel. and yes, escort 2 is a cut-down version of the Schlock Runner. Why go for a compete build when I can recycle an existing one?
