Counterpoint: Waste is foolishness. Recycling is smart! ;)

Plus, sometimes 'laziness' & 'efficiency' coincidentally go hand in hand! :p

Variations on a theme are cool! They can add a consistent look to structures and vessels.

On a much smaller scale, I came up with an, as yet, unnamed minimum SV. Once upon a time, I found myself trapped in the abandoned factory with seemingly no way out. The only apparent exit was thru the trapdoor I fell thru in the first place, which was out of range of my jetpack. Then I realized that I had sufficient materials in the "factory" to spawn the BP of my "cargo mule", a smaal SV designed to fit in the space of one block horizontally. Anyway, I stripped enough off to make it fit wertically and made my escape. (YAY!)

With that in mind, I made a tiny SV that I could spawn in an emergency.

I decided to add a gatling gun for extreme emergencies, however, it makes a tight fit even with the barrel retracted. Rochet launchers are a better fit, but seem less practical.

I know there are factions that want to impose limitations on where or how one uses the "factory", which may make the intended purpose a moot point, just as my cargo mule (a clever design by somebody else) will probably be outlawed for having too much cargo caoacity in too small a space.

Still it is a functional, cheap SV.

Nice save! I like the pics of your mini SV. They're nicely composed.

I admit that I did not do a lot of work on Escort 3, just tore out tech.
Escort 2, that was a little more involved.

The original is the ship on the left, the escort version is on the right.

I am still trying to make a believable faux landing pads on the hovering ships, but I have an idea I will be trying out tonight.

I started work on a space station myself a couple of days ago. I thought I'd just make something small that I could spawn on any server....

I just got done verifying that in fact Eleon uses a signed integer for power values: 4294 T2 Large Generators put out 2147000 MW, but 4295 put out -2147467000000.0 W. I'd started a project to build that many generators (before copy-paste and the config file were implemented), but gave up around generator #2200. This time around, it was a trivial process.

I don't think I've fully expressed my admiration for these in the past. Allow me to do so.
    Completely badass!

Ok that is seriously cool! That's got me thinking about another update to my own station.

Been workin' on stuff. None of it is anywhere near completion because I keep bouncing around to different builds as the mood takes me.

I've been working with Corellian freighter hulls a lot lately trying to produce customized builds based on that aesthetic. Mostly mixing and matching parts in new ways and trying different things out. The upshot is they need more work. I think I'm going to scale up the grey one on the left. The brown one is a work in progress. That double saucer has been sitting around waiting for me to do something with it but it will have to wait.

These also started life as a YT-1300 hulls but became something more Trek like.

Space age passenger airliner based on a concept I found online. I'm eventually going to make two versions; 1) a civilian airliner and 2) a military transport.

I really like the look of that one!

Space passenger ships would be really cool to add. I experimented with putting NPC spawners and traders on a NPC freighter ship but it seems neither spawns correctly on them. :( could make a freighter ship that has static crew members though, using the alien crew blocks.

just a note that may or may not be worth stating ... i attempted to make a docking station sort oft hing like a CV interlocking into a base ... like the base would have elevator shaft or something into the space of the CV so you didnt need to make then externally accessible well not so mundanely anyway. i put 2 bay doors on the belly and made enough room for the arm or whatever to fit inside however it gets blocked by the empty space inside like you cant move into that space at all you cant lower your CV into it or whatever unless im missing something and there is a way ... i dunno really im just trying out ideas i come up with as i go and winging it basically

it wasnt worth snipping because lets face it ... it failed lol

    * edit *

work goes on regarding the monstrosity of a station i had made tho i was thinking about a more realistic type for my next attempt ... 0-G and maybe tunneled compartments or something...

that said i really like the idea of docking SV's to CV';s to make sort of a fighting wing group ... great idea and something i will have to play with once the monstrosity is complete

I might do but that'll depend on how things go. I've still got to build a docking area between the two habitation rings, possible for CVs, maybe a hanger on one end and some form of greenhouse or possible a dome style cap on the other.

I'm happy with the progress so far but if I hit a wall or I'm not happy with the way it turns then it could still be banished to my "stuff I wasted too much time on!" pile.

I did two builds, not quite what you are talking about. A BA - CV combo where the narrow part of the CV lands down inside the base. Not a full shaft. Just a place where the two BP overlap to create a visual illusion of it being one. At first draft, my CV would never land flat on the base. So my first lesson was that sloped (partial) blocks still take the full cube of space when the two objects meet. Just because the two shapes looked like they fit, they did not. I had to recalculate the docking of the two BP as if I had used full cubes like some sort of Minecraft BA - CV constructs. The shapes then only beautify the builds. Second, I learned that getting my CV to land precisely in the hole was difficult. It wasn't like I could use the slopes to guide me even though visually it looked like they should, seeing as how they behave like the full cubes where the two BP meet. So I ended up adding a spare block of open space beyond my original intent, thus there is a gap between the CV and BA when "merged".

If you want to check them out for reference:
