Sideways? That sounds interesting, how do you do that? Anyways, i have made small progress with my previous project, by creating a (hopefully) decent looking bridge. What do you think?
Basically, I use the fact that closed cockpits always toss you out in the same spot to my advantage. If I land my ships sideways, my feet are guaranteed to be in the same spot. By having landing gears on top of the SV that connect with a CV, and having a ramp next to my cockpit that unfolds to catch me, I can dock to CV's sideways.
First, a small CV according to Alpha 9, which is supposed to be an early and basic allrounder vessel. the SV was built completly last night - from the first to the last block. Only updated textures today. It's a little aggresive CV with 3 drill lasers and 8 weapons turrets within class 1.03, the Rouge One: The CV was just 'completed as is' before the a9 release, i'm in no mood to adjust to the cpu usage just now…. And i'm too 'afraid' to wait for how it might end up, thus releasing it now… The luxury and tanky carrier of class 40: Dreadnought Turtle Spoiler: some images [/spoilers]
The Star Cruiser was my biggest CV on the workshop. And it still is. However, it was never the CV I wanted it to be. I was still very new to building in Empyrion and I was very scared of size class, so instead of pushing up against size class 5, I panicked and made it a mere size class 3 without the rooms I wanted it to have. Well, I had nearly completed a full rebuild of the Star Cruiser. All I had left to do was the paint and texture work. Then they left this CPU maximum concept out there for us to explore. Suddenly a whole lot of my BP planned and existing were looking like they would not be game legal at some future point. So I converted the all new Star Cruiser to 7500 CPU max. In fact, I pushed it a bit under 7500 CPU to allow for some future balancing of the system, a cushion in case the Star Cruiser finds those CPU updates to be unkind to it. Because I have several other BP I hope to get under 7500 CPU as well, I am putting off the texture and paint work and uploaded this update to the workshop so anyone who wishes can take a peak at a 60 kiloton CV, size class 4.93, 90 meters wide, 118 meters long, 36 meters high and yet only 6380 CPU. Spoiler: Pics and evidence of CPU To keep CPU down, I had to keep the thruster count down. Since I was using XL thrusters, I did want to keep a modest fuel reserve capacity. This won't be winning any races. She's big, heavy and a bit lumbersome, but she'll fly in 2.0 g and 5.0 kg/m^3. Here's the evidence of current CPU. The exterior had been completely painted and textured before converting to 7500 CPU max, so I took a moment to patch up some of the changes. A good thing as I found a few spots where the symmetry tool had not carried across to both sides on the updates. Not sure about putting LCDs on the one wall in the battle bridge. I don't mind just writing some message on LCD, but the idea of trying to make it look like some sort of tactical display of one kind or another frightens me. So of course, I decided my fear was a poor excuse and threw those up there anyways. For now they are blank as a reminder that when I do the texturing and paint that this too ought to be done. The Star Cruiser is a medical ship wrapped in a combat hull. The outer shell might be two combat steel blocks thick in most places, but there are a handful of patient rooms and four of these operating rooms. And in case of overflow during a medical emergency response, there is a cryostasis room. I tried attaching the epb file here. This is a first for me, but I thought those who don't like the workshop for whatever reason could take a peak at my 6380 CPU capital vessel if they so desire. [edit] Found some other examples and looks like I should have zipped that.
Today I just realized that you can put combat steel blocks L into the factory in order to get sithium ingot from it.
no no no we have a ship builder for our planet sized oceans. I condemn anyone who uses my boats on a planet that has just small lakes XD I build boats for water planets not lakes Lets make that abundantly clear so players know that my boats have a valid purpose in some places ^_^
Yesterday I took my lackton 850 warship hv into the heart of zirax territory (base cluster) on the hws server planet paragon. I had a good time the boat performed well off and on land
As A9 starts to drive the more esteemed builders insane with trying to adapt their pre-A9 Beauties to the now approaching Logistic-"issues", CPU aside, all kind of Vessels undertake some major overhauls. So far, so good. Well, I have to consider doing the same with my Bases. That is no fun at all. So I made of a recently created Lvl 7 Starter Base a more A9-suitable Lvl 10 Base with a lot more space AND within the 7.5k CPU Limit. and without Turrets
Well I join the darkside of the force today and became friends with the Zirax. Had to destroy some Talon villages to get my friend status but it was worth it. haha
I've finally begun work on my first proper cargo SV. This particular model (as yet unnamed) will have a nominal capacity of 20 kSU, in 2 external "detachable" (if SV-SV docking were possible) pods. The mounting system for the pods is more or less standardized now, so the ship can accept any cargo container that is 12 blocks long and 4 blocks tall (the width is arbitrary, but should be at least 5 blocks). Anyway, with the heavy-lift jet thrusters active in addition to the maneuvering thrusters, this ship can lift just over 200 tons (over 4 times its dry mass) in a 1g field. It also seats 4 and chess is loaded on the onboard computer.
I try to build ships in a way so it can house NPC crew and other tech if it ever gets introduced in EGS. Heck, i hope they can rely on energy shields as protection instead of maneuverability, like every decent Starship should. That's why i don't release any ships anymore, because they are not complete without those systems anyway.
Inspired by the recent release of @Myrmidon 's Manticore Warp and the totaly overseen Ender-Micro-Fighter by EndlessShogun I finaly picked up 'that design' somehow... I guess…
I began a new game and decided I needed a basic hover vehicle. Morgenroete's ATV - Over Lander is a barebones Level 3 hover vehicle which is easy to upgrade and modify. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1604712069
I found this while browsing the workshop today. VERY good for their first published build. Flying Fortress
Between resetting my Cel-phone back to factory standard...I used the time for trying, for the FIRST Time, to built an SV. WIP - Comments welcome: Rear view..sad that those new ramps are not available for SV and HV: Umpff...how does "Spoiler" work?
Adding some new turrets to my cv that is too big for my drone to work while I'm on the ground so I built a elevator to get me to the top. Little things like this are entertaining to me for some reason .lol
