We just started a new space station in CM. And soon saw things were not right. When using any of the three planes, with the core as center. Blocks place on one plane were not aligning with opposite side of that plane. See pics below. Seems that if going furthest from core on one side of a plane is not same as other side of same plane. Block count on one plane (blocks at max distance from core) is 6 blocks more on one side than the other. This needs to be checked by ET's to confirm what we have happening. Using newest game version. Thanks
This isn't a problem with the mirror tool. I think this is because you're going too far from the "center of structure" which isn't actually exactly at the center. I strongly recommend leaving about 10 blocks free on either side of your structure under the max distance limit, so you don't run into issues like this. Building a structure up to the max size limit will cause problems with blocks not appearing when it's spawned or blocks becoming non-functional or cut off.
Yep, I had this issue with HV size class 24 cruise ship, the back end was going to be longer but I realised the block faces were now invisible, indiciating max length had been reached, so I shaved off a couple of blocks worth.
But the purpose is to mirror what you do on one side of plane to the opposite side. You can set the plane anywhere, does not have to be the center of base or vessel. I under stand the max length from core. But why is it allowing 245 blocks on one side and 239 blocks opposite side of core. This is not including the core, which (in this case) is set as center of plane. If 245 is max on one side should be 245 on the other. This is not the first time we have built to max size. Past max builds did not have this issue. So definitely something new.
It's not exact. The max limit is lopsided for some reason so best to leave some margin of error on either side.
To clarify, it's lopsided because of a bug that the devs haven't been able to track down yet (many versions now). It's not supposed to be that way, but that's what we're stuck with until that bug is found and fixed.
Here's an update. Just the left to right plane is off. The other 2 planes are mirroring correctly. Also, it's 6 blocks less on left (Looking to front) plane. Another new bug found. We did a block count check each side of R/L plane. So we had the same # of blocks on each side (with the + side deducted, so same block count each side of core. When we started placing blocks on right side (mirror on). The left side blocks were still placing the blocks 6 in from where they should be. Then we place a few blocks on left side. And on right they were 6 blocks in from where they should be. This is turning out to be a very problematic issue. Probably wouldn't of caught it if not using core as center. We last did a max size vessel in A5. So had to happen after that. Was working correctly @ that time. What we decided to do for now is go with what it's giving us, and go from there. Since this is a Spaceport, and stationary with 0 gravity. Should work ok. Just a slight design adjustment. But programers, please find a fix. Thanks
