I haven't battle a Space patrol CV in a long time because they're not the easy to find. The ones that I have found where pretty easy to deal with. This one was a different story but I enjoyed it although my CV is stuck in space now. haha.
I trade with them...not shots...but Items, you know? Most of the time I'm Friends with them. Best thing for me to get them friendly, free XP and Wood logs is to maw their lawn, so to speak
Well being friends with the Zirax is a lot easier than going to war with them. I still haven't repaired my HV yet from my last POI raid. The new dogs they added make the Zirax patrols even tougher but I will win this War!! haha
Spent the evening in a Creative session, testing some ideas and wound up building a station themed from another favorite game. Seems Buckminster Fuller really was onto something. The interior is impressively spacious and is currently being divided up into useful areas. Right now my favorite is the Engineering Pit: Still have a lot of deco, texture and paint work to do down here, but it's shaping up nicely.
I made new blueprints to play with volume activated. I haven't play for a while, and it is surprisly good: each planet has more fauna variety, landscape are awesome. The game run smoothly too in 1440p on my old PC (I7 3770k/16 gb ram DDR3/ 970GTX).
Btw., did you hear the sounds those "Dogs" make? I heard them first when drilling beneath a Watchdog Patrol. It sounded to me not like a growling but like a bunch of Spiders
Hm, today nothing..yet. But yesterday I started to build a large landing pad outside the Crater to have a place where I can start working on the (CV) Augustus. I started to built it in a previous game/patch so only the center piece of the Hull exists. As I am salvaging all wreckage's and using only Devices I loot/find on my worlds its a bit a lame task. On this way I want to thank @CrazyZ for building this marvelous (SV) Loot Lifter 300 SAE! Well done! - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1675086190 This small bugger could pick up and transport the XL CV Thruster - 400 to - without falling from the sky (Performance Mode to be praised). As the walls of the crater are 300m away from the center I had to fly in several trips the concrete blocks towards the building site. With the Wifi working I was just hovering 80m above my base loaded 2 x 210 blocks into the SV and flew 400m over the crest of the Crater unloaded the same way and back to Main Base. 5 Trips and all was done. A short detour to a nearby crashed Vessel provided Fuel and O² Tanks and some bits and bobs. A spare Generator completed the engine part of the Landing Area. If the current Version of EGS would be the actual finished game I would start to enclose the crater with buildings and, one day, cover it up by a Glass dome for preservation.
Finished my base (airbase theme). The gun bunkers at each corner are connected to the main building via tunnels. I'm thinking of running one to the hanger, as well (allowing me to access a small fighter type SV parked inside without exposing myself). Roof top below the tower has a retractable minigun turret if any drones make it past the outlying gun bunkers.
Saw an interesting POI Wreckage on a moon in my current 9.5 Survival run. As many gameplays as I have done, I have yet to come across this one... [Edit, funny enough, it has a bigger brother on the opposite side of the moon. Same design style, but almost twice the length.] I've been planning on making a light freighter to test some more on a Mass/Volume enabled test game, this looks like a nice candidate. Time to open up one of my Creative ship-build saves and make a working copy... Work In Progress: Exterior is a 95% match. I added a little lumin texturing flair, and overall length is one block longer on mine. I felt I needed just a little more to squeeze a warp engine in there. But now to take it to a mass/volume game, add some more cargo capacity, and change the propulsion. Hopefully I can reduce the length by one block again to match original, but I suspect it may need to grow to add more vroom powah. Interior started as a roughly 75% match, but I ended up gutting it and starting over to make room for more cargo, change the lower hatch to one of the newer 3x3 loadingramps (it's a light freighter...moving stuff through doors doesn't cut it.). Removing amenities one by one to make room for engines and cargo...in the end it will probably be another ship where the Pilot has to sit on the warp fuel device to fly. I do love this low-flat design, and it has an angular yet sleek design to it. The colors and textures give it a great 'well used trusty ship' feel. If anyone knows who the original author and/or BP files, let me know, or is this is an EGS design? Will work on it some more tonight after work.
@Kard Yeah, the wreckage gives a good starter CV. About 2000h gameplay earlier I found one in Space, shortened it a bit and made it into a Starter CV. (A8.1.1...) EDIT: Changed SV to CV...was a typo. Sorry
I did some more work on the abandoned tomb early this morning. It's almost ready for me to fill it with gold coins and jewelry. Also finished up the pirate looter ship that will appear nearby. This weekend I'm going to try to update a couple more of my old planet and moon templates and the orbit playfields and add them to my test scenario.
I assume you mean CV? Or did you minify it into an SV? After work, started doing some research on the POI itself. I still chuckle at the fact that 1000+ hours on, and at least 30 games spawned, this was the first time I've seen this particular Wreckage POI. Apparently it was once a stock prefab very very early on, then converted to a stock POI (it's in the Creative Blueprint factory as BA_CrashedCV-TypeB, and it's bigger brother is -TypeA). I reached out to devs to see if it is an Eleon design, or a player-submitted one, just to make sure credit goes where it is due. Spent an hour paging through steam workshop to find the original, no luck. However, two people did reproduce it in their own way, as I am. Shiz314 's is the hull, completely empty except for a core, so people can play with designing the interior themselves. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1410470321 Personal Je.sys "Chiron" Is basically the same Hull, he added a bit of flourish and some other features to correspond with what he did with redesigning the interior. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1406245454 A few of the variants spawned in my ship sandbox save: I changed my version to the new CE/CC system, managed to squeeze in about 362k of volume (23.65Kt using 6032 CombatSteelBlocks). Brought it into a Survival game that had mass/volume engaged, and guess what. Wouldn't budge. The math was easy enough, should have done it in my head before even trying, I would have laughed then and not wasted time. But I went ahead anyways, and though I upgraded a few of the S thrusters to M's, it's still only about 1/2 of the minimum thrust to get that much mass off the ground. The ship is too small for Large thrusters, I'd have to eliminate the warp system and expand the hull a block or two in height to even consider putting two of them in there just for lift. Alternatively, reduce half of the cargo allowance and put in a dozen more M's. Might be able to keep the warp drive then, but it sure will be tight. So, it's basically a Light Freighter that can't carry Freight. What I will be doing tomorrow in Empyrion: moving a few more ships to the graveyard section of my Space Creative/Sandbox save. Then chase spiders from my farm. A day of building is still fun, regardless.
Still working on my latest space station. Interior is coming along. Thinking of making a public-version to add some traders as well. Lots of experimenting to do!
