More progress on CV Henrika. I've completed the aft engineering space including paint, textures, and lighting. I replaced the two upward XL thrusters with several M thrusters as the XL thrusters were taking up too much space and preventing me from fully recessing the downward XL thrusters. I installed direct fuel lines (blue piping) for the XL thrusters that connect via the engine mounts I'm using to secure the thrusters. Additionally I rearranged the cooling pipes (black). Here's the bottom level where you can see the downward XL thrusters. I've raised them up one block so I can cover the opening in the hull with the slat windows (I'm using the ones that are not airtight, hence the force fields around the thrusters to maintain the O2 seal) I'm thinking I might try to flip the cat walk blocks on the 3rd level (not shown) so I can install some computer devices. The level is currently fairly open. Barring that, I'm might remove most of the cat walks on that level and install some railings along the necessary ones instead. EDIT: Looking at it, the top level is fairly open. So I could probably remove most of the 3rd level and flip the top level catwalks to install computers there.
Today, I spent a little time doing some more of my power utilization studies. Built a "tunnel" in space. Mostly so I wouldn't go drifting off forever with these inadequate rigs. I wanted to keep the variables to a minimum, so a cage to keep me from getting lost in space. Here you can see the four test rigs I put together. The rig with 2 XL thrusters at each end was built first. This helped me determine what I was doing for power and fuel tanks. The rig with S thrusters got a lot of thrusters just to guarantee the percentage of power usage was more than 2%. While you cannot "spawn" an HV in space, I am aware that they can move about in a limited manner. But I don't think I need to create a tunnel to keep those from drifting off and do any trials with those in space. My findings from these CV rigs seemed to support my prior findings with the HV down on the planet. I think my next tests will return to the planet with similar CV rigs to confirm the pattern.
Playing around with a custom orbit playfield to add wrecks to it: Going to need more types of wrecks. A lot more. Ideally space should have a lot of stuff to discover, but it should also be fairly spread out (depending on the type of playfield). These wrecks do not show up on the map, so you have to use your eyes to spot them in the distance. There will also be "unknown signal" beacons in most space playfields, to always give you something interesting to find, as well as trade stations in some playfields that actually advertise their location and have unique and useful trades.
Work continued on the (CV) AUGUSTUS. Constructed the forward Salvage/working Bay. Made a secure work area to place 2 Multi Turrets inside for easy operating - Turrets not yet in place. Hull front reached maximum planned length. Have now to figure out how to construct a suitable looking ramming Bow. Also takes a bit of time to build all those needed CS Blocks. Started also a bit of the easier Texturing. "Shafts" for the 2 Back Truster L, that will be later enclosed and covered to house the Hangar for 2 Sand Galley's. One of those are already waiting outside to get the right size. pics from the inside of the forward Work area Control Deck above the Engine Section
Today...well today I started hunting for a new GPU Mine died about 4weeks ago, but with the family that was not in NZ yet funds were limited. Now they have joined me and I got spare funds again...woohooo
One of those "wrecks" reminds me of a good number of my CV projects. The start of a frame with a few parts such as marking where the hangar entrance is supposed to go. Otherwise, just a frame for an intended CV.
Got a bit done at the bottome side, starting with the top side… Also starting to 'close in' from the front... What do you think? Spoiler: Images Finaly I could start with the bridge (again)… EDIT: A very pleasent surprise was that i was having more than 120m/s2 at the start, fully loaded, so I increased the storage volume until I had ~85m/s2 loaded. That was without hull, I assume it'll end up at something like 42m/s2.
Tonight I was experimenting around with making a jungle planet. Super early experimentation just to play around for now. The jungle can actually get pretty thick: Beekeepers hidden in the jungle: The plan is to have a variety of biomes and sub-biomes and various interesting and unique POIs to discover that are hidden in the jungle. The thickness of the jungle makes your detector all but useless in there, thus you have to rely on either close range HUD identification, or just using your eyes. Really rewards exploring the jungle in a HV or low flying SV instead of just passing overhead. Planning on adding everything from hidden pirate stashes, ancient ruins, little Talon camps or villages, maybe even hidden enemy rocket turrets that target only SVs/CVs (with warning given to players that it's dangerous to fly over the jungle, of course). There will be a Talon Beekeepers > Talon Brewery > Karana (Zirax) Trade Station trading route on this planet, if you find yourself friend to both Talon and Zirax. Buy Natural Sweetener from the beekeepers (or farm your own), sell it to the Talon brewery for a small profit, then buy liquors from the brewery and sell it at the Karana Trade Station for even more profit. Of course if you are an enemy of the Zirax Empire, you should find the Karana POIs created by @Ramachandra to be quite a challenge. Hopefully this presents an interesting, unique, and rewarding planet to explore, conquer, or trade on once I'm done.
How many planets you planning for the scenario? It seems a big project. I maybe upload two-three more POIs to the workshop If I have the capacity this week.
Been busy with CV Henrika. Try as I might, I couldn't cram a hangar into the interior in a satisfactory way. So instead I've opted for a landing pad instead. I finished decorating the atrium (including adding a bar and various entertainment centers). And I added additional tables to the viewing decks on either side of the atrium. I also managed to compress the forward engineering space into a smaller volume, although I'm still working on texturing, painting, and decorating the area. Finally, I started working on the manufacturing area and cargo storage (currently sitting at 320k SU, but that'll probably change when I make adjustments for weight and volume).
Mirai Rapport 20798: Finaly, front has been smoothened out to the sides and Bottom, not yet perfect, but good enough to Focus on other Things. Some parts where open, and kind of tricky to close… But I did found a place to 'pack' those deco-air containers of blocks Pretty happy with how the topside turned out, i'm no fighter, but dont make me Angry! And I'm happy with the piece that was turning me crazy during the stream...
I've been working on this again lately trying to finish it up. It's a passenger plane. I made a bunch of changes to the interior, some hull changes, added more details, etc since I last worked on it. I left the roof flat because I plan to make a military version and it's a good place to stick turrets. I really like the intricate and busy style of other creators. It looks good and it really helps hide the blocky nature of voxel style blocks but I'm not sure it would fit the aesthetic here. Still fiddling with it as inspiration moves me.
