Illustrial speech: Just ask your bank why they used armored Transporters for the Money. At least, that is my logic of why I used CS.
I made friends with Polaris - finally. And I blew up my fridge. Two hours of raptor hunting and I’ve been making raptor omelettes like they’re a fashion trend. I couldn’t fit another thing in my fridge so I had to build a few more. Now I need a plan....
Today I changed this... To this... She's so cute, hehehehe. All reconstruct process was doing in survival mode. She needs some balance to be a little more agile and fast, but she is strong (all made with hardened steel blocks and armored window)
I have a quick question, is it ok to publish a BP if half of the assets are from an Eleon build? I have been debating on fleshing out my "tractor beam" concept a little more but I hesitate to publish it because the ship it is towing was made by Eleon. It's a role-play build to explain how the ships in the minefield got there.
Lots of people post modifications of the default prefabs. Just include a credit in your workshop post so people know.
Been working on a new SV design this evening. Goal was to create a low-resource level 10 Scout SV. Overall, I am pleased with how well it turned out (for a first draft anyways). Posted the initial draft to the workshop for anyone who would like to take her for a spin. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1714796502
So I've been working on Nexus Station a bit. I deleted a bunch of computer deco/npcs and that helped improve performance. Then I started working on the spires and the subway system underneath the station. There were shops and luxury apartments in the spires and an elevator that ran from engineering down to the docking ports. When I added the subway I made it connect with the shop level of the spires but I've deleted most of the luxury spires. That dropped the station 20 size levels just from that. Then I extended the subway tunnels to make it very easy for users to get the subway cars in and out of the station. Now I'm trying to get the subway to line up with lower part of the spire but it sticks out too far. Spoiler This is what it originally looked like. The part I'm working on. The pedestrian area for the subway stations is on the inner side of the subway so the elevator has to go there. The bottom of the luxury spires was attached to the casino via an enclosed walkway. I can't really move the subway because of how it lines up with the city level so I'm going to have to move the bottom of the spire. Once I get the spires positioned I'll build some landing platforms off of those. I've been making a few changes to that spire in the middle there too. Mostly removing deco and cutting off access to them so they're purely decorative now(good place to house gravity generators though). I'll probably limit access to the ATC towers up top and clean up the elevators a bit where they pass through the check-in desks. Once that's done I've got to mirror everything over to the other side of the station which is made more difficult because it's not the same length on every axis(long story, I screwed up when I originally made the station). Copy/paste should make that easier. Then I'll just patch it up. I'm also thinking about making some changes to the outer ring of the station on the main level.
Forced by the necessity of the environment of the Arid Starter Planet I created a new type of starter Base. (BA) Nova Hibernia is a Level 7 Base, it has all necessary Devices build in, such as a Large Constructor, Armor Locker, 2 small O² Tanks, WiFi, 9 Grow Plots, Food Processor, a Fridge, also Bed and Bench. Also 14 Larger Solar Panels AND a 320K CC plus a 16k Container for the Bits and Bobs. Building comes complete textured, Roman Style of Course. Airtight of course
I did my first bit of actual building since a long time, by updating my T4-Cutter MicroCV. In case you didn't know, it's meant to be a very modular jack of all trades ship, that can be turned into anything from a miner to a combat ship. It has a large empty slot meant for a retractable artillery cannon, which used to be filled in with hardened steel. But today I filled it in with cargo extensions, and some more fuel tanks, so now it has double the fuel, double the ammo and over 4x as much cargo room, making it an amazing little long range hauler. Ofcourse, you lose the extra fuel and cargo if you opt to put in artillery, but since it's kind of a silly thing to do most people probably don't do so anyways. If you change the controller on the max size cargo container and fill in the empty hardpoints with mining lasers you got yourself an amazing little mining CV.
Built myself a nifty little fighter SV. Didn’t have a chance to test it out yet though. Have been inspired to try something a good bit different next. Could prove quite interesting. Stay tuned!
I can do that, but I also wonder about the interest level from the community. It is a role-playing build, with limited piratical use. I did post the initial BP in the capitol vessels thread, but it has 0 views so I do not think the community is interested in the concept.
Nexus Station update: The renovation is proceeding smoothly. Going to be lots of paint/texture work when this is done. I'll have to make another optimization pass once everything is done. I love having lots of npcs and animated computer deco all over the place because it makes the station seem alive but man it's a drag on performance. Spoiler This is the part I've been working on the most. After repositioning things. The walkways are noticeably shorter but it couldn't be helped. I'm going to add some structure about halfway between the subway tunnels and the docking ports although I haven't quite decided yet what shape it will take yet. Maybe a landing pad. Maybe something else. I'm also thinking of changing this section up. I've never been entirely happy with how it turned out. Still brainstorming ideas. Edit: I created a new blueprint version and deleted that section. Cleaned up and straightened out the hull. Now to figure out what to do with it. I started poking around underneath and it looks like there's enough space to add a whole 'nother level to the station if I delete all the filler blocks(leftover from the last expansion of the station). Don't know what I'm going to do with it yet.Too bad there aren't any alien xenomorph deco. I could make a whole level that's been infested by alien creatures. Maybe I'll put a secret lab and some other goodies on that level.
Main Reason why I have build my Base so far to the North- 18min Daylight Downside - freezing my Arse off - while only 6 min half Darkness
Well I'm interested. Post it up on the workshop! Some of my favorite blueprints are the unconventional. They might not be popular but that doesn't mean they can't be on the workshop.
Been working on a couple inexpensive and fun to fly (small) personal transports. SQRL 03 & 05. Both are now available on the workshop. FLYING SQRL (03) - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1715585025 RABID SQRL (05) - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1715600599 And a few others in draft form (in the background),....
I spent some time reworking the tractor beam's dish and hid a few components in the wreck so it's a fully working CV, then uploaded the Tractor Beam Concept into the workshop. The tugboat is a rework of one of my older builds, the wreck is (very obliviously) one of Eleon's ships from the minefield. It is intended as a role-playing build. (After all, Polaris needed some way to move all those ships into the Minefield.) The tugboat has a multitool turret and a forward-facing T2 repair bay so it can repair SV's.
