Finally, the deactivated HAKON is back on business.

It took a long time to work, traveling to the next planet with Neodymium and Sathium and back, doing Hardened Steel Blocks and almost starving to complete the rebuilding. Now she's back.

    RhodeKill,

    Thanks for the reply.

You are correct about the max image dimensions of 800x450. However, this issue is occurring with the default image (not a custom image) and the sizing of the image is correct (800x450). I have even tried reducing the size of the default image (by reducing dimensions and/or dpi). Even if the image is smaller than 25kb and less than 800x450, the error occurs.

At this point, my next step is to contact Steam support to see if they determine what is going on, or at least provide a more detailed error message. The end-user-friendly error message of 'LimitExceeded' is a bit vague to say the least.

Had a bit of inspiration finally.

What it used to look like:
    9.0 Experimental_2019-04-17_14-04-47.jpg

    What it looks like now:
    9.0 Experimental_2019-04-21_15-09-22.jpg

The inside of the dome. It's a nice spot to hang out and watch spaceships while you're waiting for your flight. Now I need to copy it over to the opposite side. It's probably not going to line up correctly(one of these days I just need to bite the bullet and fix the axis that's two blocks short but it is not this day).

If you're trying to Upload Screenies to Steam Workshop things, last I remember its Max File Size for its Screenies was 10kb. :/

I tend to prefer sticking in the Description a Link to a Empyrion Forum Post containing the Screenies for my Workshop Items cause i've long since lost patience with the Steam Screenie Uploader thingie & hate using it too much to ever bother with it again. :(

    @zertali

My solution is to the max file size has been to convert my screenshots to jpg files. I believe the default is png. As for the image for the preview, that I will make sure to export to jpg as well after I may have made any edits. Of course, there was that one time that I couldn't upload any screenshots before but that was a Steam issue that was fixed within a week.

I hear you. I took a four month break starting back in December because I was starting to feel a little burned out on the game. I'm definitely better for having taken a break. Sometimes ya just gotta say da hell with it and go do something else for awhile. :)

Worked on my Pelican CV. I managed to restore the aft hangar and six bays along the belly of the vessel.

    A9 FTB_2019-04-21_22-31-59.png A9 FTB_2019-04-21_22-32-07.png

I have one of the original parked nearby, so I be reviewing my work as I am trying to trying to keep this true to form. That includes the exterior. Which is part of the reason I am having to restore the interior. This isn't some fancy multi-layers armored vessel. A lot of the hull is one hardened steel block thick. So my alterations to the front end as well as the aft engineering sections impacted the interior deco as well.

    A9 FTB_2019-04-21_22-36-30.png

There is still a lot of work to do before I finish.

Quite often as I have converted some of my work to under 7500 CPU, I haven't bothered to polish the paint and texture work to my satisfaction, but for some reason I feel that the Pelican deserves to be complete--until the next game change where I overhaul it again.

In the process, the Pelican is not only going to be reduced to less than 7500 CPU, it is actually getting more storage than before. it was supposed to be my interpretation of a light freighter anyways.

I know exactly why I am currently not in the mood to play and test EGS: My old love has gotten new fodder - by receiving 28mm Miniatures which I have commissioned 4 Years ago but never had bought:rolleyes: - and now the New models stand right beside my keyboard and wait to be painted:)

I was a bit nostaligic today, and started a new game in alpha 3.
Feels like i would play a game of my childhood again, but it is a lot of fun to play that one again and don't have to think about temperature, airtight rooms and so on.
And: I got a tunnel through the mountain with the handdrill. o_O
    :D
Thank you Eleon for this awesome game!

    Edit:
    I really like that view:

Makes me wish for one of my old suggestions.

That Eleon would release multiple versions of the game as separate builds (not as a drop-down from the beta menu.)
That way you can have multiple versions of the game installed and you can choose which version you want to play, without having to re-download the game every time you want to change versions.

If you own one, you own them all.
Alternately, I would not be adverse to a "platinum" version of the game that allows this, with the regular version of the game only allowing access to the current build.
We all enjoy the game and want to see Eleon continue to develop it, but I understand they need money to do that. Which is why I would not be adverse to buying a release of the game that grants access to the old builds.

I think I speak for the entire community when I say that I never want to see Empyrion go the same way Grav did.

You can do that now. I think you can just copy the game to a new folder and run it from there.

as ravien_ff said, you can get acess to every version by just copying them to another directory (this way i can play alpha 3, cause with beta tab i would only be able to go back till alpha 6 i think.)

    But i understand your idea.

    My opinion:
I bought empyrion when it was in Alpha 3. And i bought it because of the features it got at that point and i loved it (and i still do).
The current version is great, i really like it, but for me, its totally different from the alpha 3 version. Which is not bad.

    But:

What i would prefer for early access games is, that they stay more at the concept they have in the beginning and dont change the game over years again and again so that it doesn't feel like the original concept, but more like a MMO, always new content to make the players stay with the project. And also i still have the same pc that i had, when i bought Empyrion in Alpha 3. But developers always rework the game to make it look more beautiful, which leads to higher system requirements and then the day comes, where i need to buy a new pc, just to play the games i bought years ago.

I think that a lot of people may like that early access thing the way it is, but for me early access games change to much during development.
But that doesn't mean that i dislike the current Empyrion version!

Early Access is closer to an Alpha version of the game. It's the beginning stages of development so it doesn't have all its core features yet. By the time the beta version rolls around it's undergone many many iterations and changes. Early Access is probably a bit more playable than an alpha but it's still a far cry from a finalized version of the game. Change is to be expected.

What I'm saying is don't get too attached to a particular version of an Early Access game. Heck don't get too attached to the game itself. It may never reach full release.

I think I agree. When I started, it was pre-alpha something. I was not altogether understanding what early access would involve. I took no interest in the community for nearly 6 months. Fortunately, I came to my senses.

If there was no single-player mode to EGS, I wouldn't be playing. So many of the changes seemed to aimed at MP gamers that I worried that the game would leave me behind. I'm still here but I still worry. Over the last 3 years, the word balance has come to mean evil tidings for me. Always curious about what's ahead, yet fearful that my accomplishments may be lost. I've spent more money upgrading v-cards, hard drives and peripherals than I would ever have imagined. Not sorry, just saying.

I, too, would enjoy being able to go back, occasionally, to some earlier simpler versions. Yet I'm still looking forward to what's next, hoping that some of MY suggestions find their way into the game while I can still afford to play.

p.s. Except for EGS, I will never get involved with an early access game again!

Did some more work on the Pelican with a day off from work. This time it was lighting and some new signal work. I am so used to leaving the spot lights on, that I had never considered how it looked when all the lights were off.

    A9 FTB_2019-04-22_17-48-38.png

Suddenly, I realized that while flares will consume power, for RP that there had to be a few flares on this vessel. It was nice to see the original work with emissive textures still had the desired effects of making the bays and landing pad visible.

I'm still working on the update to Nexus Station. I finished copy/pasting the domes and got all that textured and painted as well as some minor changes to the baggage area.

Of course what's a progress report without a few pictures.
The update to the subway is mostly done.

I updated the docking ports near the bottom of the elevator towers.

    New:

I'm working on the elevator towers right now since they're a bit of a mess. So. Much. Paint and Texturing.

I'd hate to be the one to pay the electric bill for this place. It takes about 6000 fusion cells to fill the tanks.

No. Say rather: the current release of an Early Access game may become It's final release.
