What i also noticed, the >Cube Round Connector B< exist in left and right version but there is no need for it. Same goes for >Cube Round Connector C<. The mirroring with these blocks is also not working correctly.
I am not sure if it already was mentioned and maybe you guys already noticed it. But Ramp Connector B (left/right) seems to be wrong mirroed by the symmetry plane. Also can we have these block please? Its name would be >Ramp Connector F< The Yellow, "Pink" and Orange flats are all the same.
As much as I love the new windows' blocks, I was really looking forward to being able to build cockpits with them. The vast majority of windows shapes in Empyrion right now are wonderful to make creative side windows or wall windows, but there's so little to make cockpits with and none for good visibility... I would love to see more 1x2 slopes and curves with no borders or even 2x2 and of course corners to join slopes and curves to 90 degree angles. Hope this gets noticed, I've bee asking for nearly two years now (not a complain, just giving feedback).
The one block shape I feel we are missing is the transition from square to the small round all in one block. So we can have something closer to real air ducking.
Outside of the block, corridor blocks. Right now if you Wana make a 2 wide hallway with corridor blocks, not only can you not add lights, but no doors at the beginning or end of said corridor. Because there "cool" side is facing the inside of there block area. Should have them facing outward as well if possible. A corridor block designed to be a full block size so we can add lights. I feel as if I can not enjoy the styling of sv thrusters. They look really cool, but I can't figure out of to retain the cool look and still get them to "flow" into the ship to well. So maybe blocks that can, in a way, cradle thrusters (3x7x3 styles). This is out there a ways. Circles, round ships, lots and lots of round shapes. Sure we got some. But we need the same variaty as the square blocks have for the round blocks. So much more building oourtunity. Sorry if that was alot...
Yes, remember that shape from the last internal update. We fixed a whole lot of mirror issues. Please retest in the next update @new shapes / requested shapes > please note that i will not reply to any suggestion, but add them to my list (although i need to add new blockshapes might need to wait until A11 or A12, except it is a REALLY most wanted missing shape for a lot of people
Cool =) May i be so rude and ask how "REALLY most wanted" is defined? As Example this one was already implemented: It has 8 likes and got implemented really fast and i think it was the only one out of this thread that was implemented till now. So now we have this one here suggested by myself with 7 likes: (highest after the corridor block with 8 likes) Does this already count as "REALLY most wanted" or is this as "right now seems kinda most wanted" not enough? Anyway while i was going through this thread i noticed that we also started to talk a lot about non existing or vertical ramps, heavy ramps, and i don't know what. So it is kinda rough to sort out the block shapes suggestions. Wouldn't a seperate thread been more useful? @Hummel-o-War (This is a real question, the answer is depending on what the staff wanted to have answered in this thread.)
Is there any chance we could get additions to the storage blocks as well? Building vehicles with more options for storage blocks would be greatly appreciated. I made a CV with an internal cargo bay where the walls were cargo extensions and the options felt pretty limiting in places.
I take it you mean to have more shapes of Cargo Extension, yes? If so I concur, they are a bit too limited right now.
@Hummel-o-War , and @5hinzou I've started to make 3D mock ups of the blocks builders are starting to ask for. The first block I did was for 5hinzou, which you may have already figured out, given it's up there in the posts. It actually causes two mirror image blocks to need to be produced. I used it even if already made, to verify the presentation is what you could use, and/or if you have any suggestions about how better to show you the "missing" blocks in the future. I think I'll add a 0-9 index on the transparent panes cause it looks like you do the blocks in a 10x10x10 grid.
blocks that would be nice: - cylinder half blocks? (or round kotor like cantina tables XD) we currently have quater cylinders that are half a block high, but not full half block high cylinders. these would be pretty nice - wall sloped round as half block? (basicly a round railing that is solid) - things like corner half a3 medium/low etc. in reverse fashion. meaning in terms of height the points would be reversed. the single corner is the lowest point and both sides go up and are highest. - corner half a1, something similar for the ramp a, ramp a half version.(basily extending the bottom platform how the ramp a half version is to the full block) this might link badly on the small side to others, but would be nice i think. @the new added blocks feedback: i overall like them, some things are missing like double sided blocks where a half heigh wall and double beams is missing and we only have the slopes (that are really great btw). (block wall double, but there is no wall double low and beam double for the single beam) other then that, can't think of any logical missing, but i haven't used all. so maybe even a bit to much choic esp for newer builders. love the game, great work guys on the whole update btw PS: are the damaged blocks getting new shapes added to? (asking couse i'm currently sitting on a side side side project ruin that uses damaged blocks, that i kinda hesitant to continue)
If you guys have other blocks you've noticed you needed during builds, just pm me and do as Hummel said, screen cap a pic, leaving an empty space and color the sides, or you can make a drawing with the 6 sides like Allarion did, so I could make a paper model ...and figure out what you were thinking. I'll double check with you that what I made is what you want... the distortion of the POV is freaky, it's not so obvious alot of the time what the shapes are. If possible take a pic at minimum POV of 40... I saw at least two other blocks hoped for in the thread, which I'll make tomorrow. I have no assurance that we'll ever get the blocks I make mock ups for, but at least we gave them designs that are almost impossible to misinterpret. Good enough for me. I like when I mess my normals up, so you can see my naked block insides. I like that effect, so Idk if I'll fix that... Also, if you think of a way that's even better to display the blocks, I'm all ears. I'm gonna add a 0-9 label on the Plexiglas panes to give a better idea of null space...
At the time @Allarionn brought it up to me, I was misunderstanding it to look like the block they already had in the A10 update... (cause I made a paper model the wrong way which is a talent all by itself), so I redid it on the computer, and derp. I got the impression because I was looking at the wrong shape in my mind, and your post was almost one of the first ones, that it was already done by Eleon, because I saw the "wrong" block I was thinking about already in the block sets... I need another pair of eyes, too. Now that I'm looking at the blocks like I usually look at my female nudes, I think the block I just made is missing a diagonal line between the sharp slope and smaller slope transition. Like the example blocks pictured below. I'll fix that today... Now I understand the power set of all possible blocks would be more than huge, (I think 2^(10*10*10) - 1 (the null set) though I thought it would be 10! * 10! * 10! - 1, [3628800^3, which is still humongous], but that's not what google says...), so I don't want to give them the impression we're gonna ask for every single possible block, cause that's not what I'm thinking. I'm thinking of what builders have been creating, then going, oh man, wish I had that block. I welcome all blocks you run into cause I'm willing to make a mock up for them... Given, the general case being that an even small block set is so large that it is beyond human comprehension, I was thinking of a new block making system, where you still quantize the blocks to reduce complexity to the 10x10x10 grid, but then the builders could "create" any type of block in the 10x10x10 gird space, and given it's procedural, the computational overhead is minimized... So it would be a 2 step process. 1) Map out the block in the 10x10x10 space, and create; 2) Place said block into a build. There would then have to be a "favorites" for the blocks you create, so you don't have to reinvent the wheel every time, but then the builders themselves make them after you could give them some default blocks, and they no longer have any building block limitations... I don't know Unity though, so Idk if that type of system is implementable. I am taking a Unity Cert course, so maybe I'll get lucky and see if that's NOT possible at all anyways...
It's super cool that you do this. Today we just got another update where this "actual most wanted" block is not included again. And despite the awesomeness of this update (I really love the new things, like angle note, new colour tool, pilot mode) it doesn't feel like an upgrade to me. Well that's a bit melodramtic but i really miss this block so much for years! and there are now so many new blocks but this one ist still missing. Spoiler: Warning, sarcasm is apllied here! But hey today we got another pillar block. yay
They just probably didn't get it into the compiled build yet...they have like a once a week update until public Alpha release, if I understood Taelyn correctly. Let me fix the block with the diagonal too, and if necessary, I'll make the block belly dance for extra attention possibilities. I'm thinking of putting an Eleon trademark on the block cause today I'll actually UV the block(s) so I can actually texture them... if that doesn't help, I'll put cats, cute cat faces... whatever is necessary...
I wish I had time to look thru all suggestions: Need these and others like it to be able to move over... maybe a key command to move them inside the voxel space vs an entirely new block?
