Mode: Survival Mode: Dedicated Server Reproducibility: current situation permanent Severity: Majory Annoying Type: global Summary: Terrain, Drills Description: #1: Drills (small) attached to hover vessels have no longer the option, drill rock or ground. The issue here is that even if you are at point blank range, to the rock, and activate the drill it does nothing, repositioning always required. #1a: The resources are NOT put into the container controller (ore and wood), they simply fall onto the ground. #2: Using the harvester on trees, causes a deformation on the ground as well, which even can flip your hover over. the deformation increases with the size of the tree harvested. #3: continues disconnects Log file attached
@1/1a > do you mean large rocks or resource stones? @2> does this happen for you in SP as well? Maybe make a quick test as 1+2 could also be a result of lag.
for me in a single player HV with tier 1 drills. it is extremely difficult to drill resource rocks or small stones without making a mess of the ground. The stone or oar are never put in the harvest box. Trees go to the harvest box fine.
I just did some tree harvesting with harvesters on an HV in a single player and got the ground distortion. Did about 6 trees getting out of the ship and inspecting to find distorted raised ground where the harvested tree had been.
It's not just harvesting trees that causes ground distortion, harvesting plants and small ores causes the ground to rise around the objects.
A10 Exp3 - SP - 3 fresh Games Adding to Guardian44 post.... 1) in A9 stable using a mechanical drill on an HV, right-click when you use the drill, and you get the option in the screenshot below. In A10, the mechanical drill seems to be in Ground drill mode continuously, there is no selection when using the mechanical drill and right-clicking 1a) A10 using an HV with a mechanical drill, the surface ore rock or non-ore rock is not deposited in the HV ore container, it falls on the ground. In A9 (same HV & mechanical drill) the ore or rock is deposited into the HV ore container I have duplicated this in A10 Ex II, and III using a blueprint for a simple HV harvester/miner used in A9 stable + created an HV harvester/miner from scratch in A10: same results in with all blueprints and SP games in A10. If (A10) the HV mechanical drill is placed on the ground next to a surface ore rock or rock, it will deposit it into the HV ore container (1 to 10 are awarded). In A9 stable using the HV mechanical drill on a surface ore rock usually results in 1 to 3 ore deposited in the HV ore container.
i observed this a little bit more and it appears, that when the drill, the mechanical or the laser drill hit a stone/rock/ground, the stones from the rock not always fall onto the ground, some are moved into the container. So i aimed one time at a rock, at very close range, then it was moved into the container, when i aimed from a bigger distance, it just fell down. i am not sure, but it feels like, that the game is checking between rock and ground drill. so you hit the ground and the rock at the same time, but when the rock is removed and 2 stones are created, the drill-check switches to the ground and so the loot falls to the ground, instead of into the container. the mined rocks should not been created by the game, the should become instand a number in the container, not an object on the playfield.

With the single mode of mining when you mine surface rocks with An HV drill it makes large unpleasant scars everywhere. I do not like that.
Me again... I believe it was @Taelyn who stated, as I reported HV-Drills does not "pick-up" surface rocks, that this not intended. I thought: "What the hell?" I posted that back in EXP A10.I... I believe
I knew somebody had reported it but I did not see a current bug report and the behaviour persisted even with a clean start. So yeah what the ?
only for "fun" try it with logs of wood too, ok? It happened to me that neither rocks nor wood was picked up https://empyriononline.com/threads/ore-and-wood-cc-for-hv-dont-pick-up-material.49173/
This has happened with the HV drills ever since the surface ore rocks were added. It keeps getting classified as not a bug. I strongly disagree with that. Every surface ore rock drops 2 "chunks" when mined with a hand drill. When mined with a HV drill only one of these 2 "chunks" gets picked up (usually the smaller of the 2 "chunks" is the one to get picked up as well.)
Not true, worked at least in 9.4 to 9.7 relatively well. Just started with EXP A10 to happen again. until they removed recently the yellow line in Console, telling you that part of the rock is out of the playfield and will be removed, I always check the area where I drill a surface rock or a tree if anything is left behind. Until 9.7 it was not happening.
@Hummel-o-War Just tried to drill a "medium" sized Surface Rock. Result -> No Crushed Rocks are collected because they only drop to the ground...
Same ship same game now with tier 2 drills collects the small surface rocks both oar and crushed stone but will not collect the crushed stone from any of the bigger rocks steps to reproduce: upgrade the drills on the ship in the save and go mine surface rocks of various sizes And the scarring of the land continues although a bit less with the T2 drills.
Today I watched a Video made by @spanj - he found out that if you aim with your drill BELOW the Surface Rock it will pick up all. If you aim ON the Surface Rock you drop half or all.
I too am having difficulties with the T1 HV drills. NO ore is collected (it don't even seem to drop the chuncks?) - the only result is a scar on the landscape - which indeed is VERY annoying - and the rocks simply seem to disappear. Would much prefer a 'drill mode' switch between terrain/ground rocks - like the alpha 9 T2 drill i suppose. That would prevent the scarring of the land at least... And would not be a nuisance imop... since you tend to do either or - for an extended period of time... i.e. no frequently switching modes.
