As for me, I find it really annoying. You have an, in your/my opinion, important question but that will never be answered in time due to the forum moderation. Is it possible to get rid of the forum moderation for actual members or are there more moderators needed ?

If the moderation goes on because there is a link in a new members post, it's spam prevention we should all be happy about.

Unfortunately the spam bots tried to take our forum back to the side of light !
But we gave the moderators cookies, yes we have cookies on the dark side.....

Yeah, you weren't here when we were getting slammed by spam bots.
I'm not entirely certain what question you might have that wouldn't be answered "in time" due to moderation. We're not dealing with time-sensitive business here. This is a video game, not the stock market. It's not even an MMO - time does not pass when you are not playing.

Sure, it might be annoying to have to wait a few hours for posts to be approved, but it's the best solution to keep the forum from being overrun by adbots.

Well, as long as it prevents things like an account's first post in intro's being spam. oh, wait....

Well I don't think the moderation is very effective. I still see spam post... In fact, I just reported one this morning, about 2 hours ago. So what gives?

Well there you have it, you reported one, not 41, that's the difference.
That's what it was like, 6 new spam bots a day, a flood of garbage on the forum, it is not like that now, case and point.

Does somebody actually read the posts or a script? Spam is always the first post of an account so a script can filter for them into a collection to be read by a human. The volume on this forum can not be that numerous such that first time posters number more than five or six per day.

I understand the need and desire to moderate and approve posts of people who have just joined up. What I would like to see though is some sort of system that enables people who have posted at least X messages and received Y likes (or have a certain posts/likes ratio) to post things without moderation.

Having the "points" system, i can't see how some awesome coder, cant program a script for the forums, to jump past the moderation need, based on points one has earned ... (Aren't points, related to likes ?)

This way, no new member, can post, without waiting for the post to be modded, correct.
But, in time, as points are piling up, the workload on the mods, is decreasing, thanks to mentioned script, because the poster, reaching XXXXX points, is seen as a trusted member of the community ?

IF said member, starts spamming after reaching the cut-point, said spammer gets banned for X-weeks / permanently, for abuse ?
(serious people, know not to spam stuff)

On the other hand... replies, are instant, and requires no modding at all..... strange o.o

Just my 2 cents, and, i love playing the necromancer, bringing dead things back to life muahaha ♥

Having experience in this area, I know how compelling it can be to add overrides and hacks into the code (its pretty easy for a php dev)... BUT ... and here is the big butt... doing so makes 'upgrading' the canned code very difficult because each new code base needs to have to be re-evaluated to figure out what hacks to re-apply ;) Been there, done that, hate keeping up with it... so I can imagine the same would be true here.

Good idea though, but if the XenForo code doesn't already have the ability, then adding it in themselves (Eleon), would be a future ongoing nightmare to deal with.
