I did some work on updating an old build then went into space. I found the Planetary Remnant near the minefield, then died, a lot. Who set the blasted thing as an Admin structure? I could not damage any of the sentry guns, which is the main reason I died so much. It was crawling with Zirax as well... <sigh> Knock, knock...
Crapcrapcrapcrapcrapcrapcrapcrapcrapcrapcrapcrapcrapcrapcrapcrap That is my fault! Sorry about that - was experimenting to see if the Admin could prevent a player from excavating certain kinds of blocks and then I got caught up in Hummel's requests. Will be changed in next thinga-ma-doohicky.
One of the things I added is a auto gravity control that will shut off gravity if no one is walking around the ship OR if the landing gears are extended, so you don't have to manually turn gravity off when you're on a planet. I'll also add the automatic thruster control from my SV, so thrusters and RCS will shut off when the ship lands. Both are optional of course with a toggle in the control panel. But the idea is that you don't have to manually turn on or off gravity or propulsion if you don't want to. You can land the ship and everything that needs to will shut off to save power, and then when you get back in the ship and take off, everything will turn back on. It's also good for coop and multiplayer since it won't get confused by multiple people walking around and doesn't depend on sitting in the captain's chair. External sentries are also controlled by NPC sensing motion sensors, so they'll only activate and shoot when a predator is near the boarding ramp, instead of going all crazy shooting at things hundreds of meters away. Will need to test how well these things work in survival.
Got the first iteration of the CV done! Going to be using it in our survival play through of my scenario to see how it holds up. It's nothing special in terms of look or function, but meant as a mass/volume enabled basic starter exploration/mining CV for 1-3 players to last you early to mid game but still be functional into late game if needed. Has a rear entrance for HVs, a top entrance for small to medium SVs, and a front entrance for personnel. The front and rear entrance are protected by anti-predator sentries. The hangar is fairly large for being a starter CV and can easily fit 2 of my Comet mining shuttles on the sides (blue areas in lower left and right corners in screenshot) while still leaving room for several other HVs and SVs. The farm is sealed off from the rest of the ship in case of oxygen loss. The bridge and whole ship is lacking in deco. Figure people can decorate it how they want and it helps keep costs down a bit: Ship stats with cargo thrusters off. With them on its capable of lifting full loads of the heaviest ore in most planet's gravity. There are upgrade spots for additional thrusters, tool turrets, fixed drills, shield, repair station, bay, and console, and plenty of room to add additional cargo, generators, or fuel storage as desired. The ship's hull is standard steel with carbon composite interior. It has 8 retractable cannon turrets with full coverage for self defense, but is NOT meant for combat. Critical systems are spread out in multiple areas to avoid catastrophic chain reactions, but there is still a chance for damage from explosive attacks. Has optional automatic propulsion and gravity options, for turning them off when landed. Can mix and match as desired, or leave off to manually control them. I'll post the blueprint up in the workshop once I've tested it some in survival, but wanted to show everyone what I was working on the past few days. Definitely not the best CV, but it should be useful.
Well after "A Day after" and "Ragnarok" I started now with updated Version (WIP) for 10.5EXP in Project Eden-Scenario...again on the Dead Planet. This time name of the Game is "The Hour of the Wolf". Therefore my HV I built was named FENRIS 1.
I took the term "Escape Pod" literally... Made a bare bone SV to escape the atmosphere so being able to spawn the SV which I made earlier
Dang! You actually built a nice HV for that start. I usually have the loosest of cobbled together ships.
4th start on Dead Planet - 3rd HV Built...you should expect that there would be some evolving happening Btw., the HV is now fully textured.
Funny Moments on the Dead Planet-Project Eden... ..and what Bases do when they are not governed properly...
It seems like every planet that makes heavy use of that POI spawning method will have one spot on the planet where multiple POIs will spawn right on top of each other. Just be glad none of those have turrets!
