So, I am "nearing" working on an ocean world for the scenario I have been working on and am looking for specific information on ocean planet creation...have not been able to find answers via a search so thought I would ask... is there a way to either A: set land mass amount. IE: percentage of water to land ratio. B: set a land masses size. IE: possible island size ratio. I am looking to make an ocean planet with either A single decent sized island with many small ones or at least make one with about 2-4% more land than I have currently seen from current generations.
Check the current ocean template. In playfield_dynamic.yaml you can control the percentage of water. LandWaterRatio: [0.90, 0.90] There isn't an easy way to directly control landmass size, but you might be able to use things like GroundShapes or terrain stamps to maybe help with that.
Thanks mate, havent fully gone over the ocean playfield yaml's yet. figured I would inquire while im away from my PC while I have time, before I actually needed the information. Will mess around with the LandWaterRatio a bit to see what it does before going through the long process making a customized planet.
Is the hardest thing to force it to work that way. I've spent several weeks trying to make something similar to the ocean scenario from scratch, no success tbh. I would use the ocean planet yaml and work from there. To my knowledge there no good method to influence the size or shape of landmass (except maybe with stamps as Ravien mentioned). The LandWaterRatio is more of a suggestion than an actual rule the generator will follow with any certainty. If you don't create the right conditions for it to work, then it'll simply spew out some nonsense to compensate.
Yeah I have had no success in making a water world that comes remotely close to what I would like for my scenario which is fine for now. I put it all on hold until I see what Eleon is doing with CPU and just how far its going to wreck the game. No point in putting many hours into something I may never even play with friends.
