I would like to know how many creators there are playing Empyrion vs how many download from the factory.
I create all my own designs. I create the design in Creative as I tend to be sloppy with the keyboard and need to remove misplaced blocks / shift stuff around a fair bit. That can get expensive in Survival especially if I accidently place a whole line rather than a single block. Then I use the factory to make have it appear in Survival.
just my thoughts on this topic: - many player might never come to this forum at all they might just know about steam (as I do with many games where I only read steam forums) - and players who spend a lot of time with building are maybe also more likely to read forums and vote - everyone can read here, but to vote you have to have a account and login (mostly I don't login here just read a few random posts, mostly news) - Empyrion is the game I have most hours in (1000) but still only create myself maybe 5% of my time and then basic starter vessel and base, or much more often modify downloaded workshop blueprints. I love that we can have options to create or "just" download. While the search in workshop for the next interesting and suitable vessel /base can take considerable time ( I spend more time searching workshop , reading , comparing, testing in creative than building). sorry for rambling, just my opinion. happy times and many thanks to the creators of this wonderful piece.
Depends on what I'm after. I often build but then also download something close to what I want. I'll then modify it to my own liking. Overall it just saves me time.
I play coop with my son and he builds. I did my own HV tank it looks like a brick but hey it works and that's what matters.
I was creating my ships, but with the limitation, first of the blocks, then the weight and now the CPU, I prefer to wait to see if it's worth.-
I build from the factory, not download from it. You had me confused there. Downloads can be done from the workshop. And i do create my own stuff in creative and then spawn them in my survival game.
Missing a "mixed" alternative or 10. Mostly create or modify others. 50-50 Mostly use others PBs or prefgabs.
All of the above would fit. I use the blueprints to learn from or modify. That was what it was like when I first started playing. I can slap together an HV in game now rather quickly. I only build in one of my other HV's that I created from the factory when I need to do a job it was designed to do. I've done a few CV's and can slap together a CV brick in short time. When I'm really ready to venture outward then I will use the factoy to build my CV motor home I created that I would start living in. I'm still trying to master SV's so far each of my SVs other then my camper SV have been crap. So as I starter sv, I used a default slightly modified it and then I use the factory to build my version.
Well, to be honest prefabs tend to be so much better then what i can come up with at this stage i just go with them ATM, besides i like to roleplay that those ships were sorta standard issue for the Earth fleet, i am probably not playing this game optimally but heck, with my sort of lag ship performance does not really matter all that much, what really matters is ship durability.
creates my own mostly on bp , then spawn it. or creates a skeleton/hull of the bp i want, then spawn it, and finish it in game (because some bp is above the class limit ) sometimes i make some sv in the server, but its rare.
Creator. But I took everything I had in the workshop down because nothing I had up is going to work well when alpha11 hits.
I create because I personally find that a fun part of the game (and yes I played for hours with Legos as kid ). Admittedly my various craft tend to reflect the "brick" school of design more often than not but they're still fun for me to build (which is the only thing that matters, right?)
Sniff I didn't have Legos as a kid. But I did have log cabins Legos came out after I got older and no longer played with the logs and blocks
"Lincoln Logs"? I remember having a set of those as a very little kid. And even had an "Erector Set" with all its nuts, bolts, and metal beams with a small eletric motor included even. This was all in the 1970s (I'm in my Fifties now). Tbh I never had so many Legos as I did of the lesser competitor "Loc Blocs". I have to confess that I played with them even into my teenage years as a creative outlet . Those were probably an even closer approximation to working with the EGS voxels as they were not as sleek of a design as the Lego brand stuff. I have seen numerous videos of Lego creations by fully adult individuals and so don't feel as embarrassed by my slight lack of maturity by playing with those at a point past the normal play age.
And I didn't . I grew up in SE Asia during that war. Dad was in the USAF and we were living in Thailand.
Only use my own stuff (and sometimes inflict it on everyone else via the workshop) - seems kind of the point of the game to me @RazzleWin & @SGP Corp - also had lego as a kid - apparently I won **** loads of it from lego in some creators competition here the UK back in the early 70s or so (mum told me recently, I had forgotten TBH).
