Survival testing the rogue challenge starting planet. Well, using the word "survival" is pushing it... Found silicon and iron! Trying to see what's at the bottom of a hill: When you have to make room for the essentials: I used medium difficulty preset, with mass/volume and cpu enabled, and set constructor speed to fast. I still died several times. Didn't have a motorbike after an hour (and no way to build one yet). At least on the Dead planet you're alone. Here, things lurk in the darkness. Zirax snipers take pot shots at you from the shadows. Ripper dogs sneak up behind you. And around every corner there could be a predator waiting to ambush you. And things don't get much better in space. What, you think orbit would give you a reprieve from the darkness?
Imagine if it was possible for the AI to do cool things... like have scary Night Loving Predators notice gross freak show Lights in the distance & get the overwhelming urge to kill all those Lights... & whoever/whatever made them...
Sorry don't really have much to say other then can't leave you guys alone for even a day it would seem. I have more to read this time then ever so all your getting from me is still reading mates
LOL! And then circle your compound in packs dodging in and out of the edges of your perimeter lights teasing you with your potential demise... mmmmmm.... That sounds so cozy.
Finished up a couple of builds that have been hanging around for far too long. A small outpost that features: - Defense Tower - Elevated SV Landing Pad - HV Docking / Parking Area - Subterranean Storage / Constructor area (safe from enemy fire) - Furnace - Solar System to reduce fuel usage - Farm Area OUTPOST 06 - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2005814895 SV101 - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2005909152
Used a bit of time to bring most of my Bases up-to-date - some are beyond trying The Palatin got now a Century of Guards on the Barracks Training Ground
ALRIGHT! I'm caught up again. Sorry @Myrmidon but today just reading the forum does count as to what I did today
I thought this thread is about the game itself on steam only. So I guess not. On the other hand reading usefull info about Empyrion here prepares you as a gamer I guess. So....
Keep playing through the scenario Project Eden. Still just fiddling around the systems close to starter Dead Planet, within SV warp range. The initial mission done it seems, not that many sections. About to get the higher level ores, so can spawn an OK CV. Might build a small simple one with warp to reach better resource areas, common ores no issue. Have gotten most "epic" weapons.
Zertali, I really love the design of this outpost. I'm going to further investigate the interior in creative later Quick question though. Do you find 1 turret to be sufficient defense generally? I find that in my survival games I'm immediately attacked by 3-4 drones with rocket type(s) included in my first base attack. I'm not sure if that's a common occurrence or not but it's been my experience. Due to this factor in my last "starter base" build I designed it with 2 turrets and 2 sentry guns in elevated positions. This didn't really seem to improve the situation As for what I did myself in Empyrion.. I built a micro SV I used to clear the abandoned drone base and abandoned mine. It went a little faster and was less stressful than going in on foot. Used a lot of 15mm ammo but it's cheap so not a huge issue. It was it's own headache though as the SV kept flipping over every time I touched a wall. I need to move the components around to redistribute the weight I think. I have only a few more Zirax facilities to take out before I clear my starter planet completely. Any tips for taking out the AA gun? I've only done it once prior and it was a pain to do in an HV because of the uneven terrain and Zirax patrols. After I'm clear here I'm looking to settle permanently elsewhere. Possibly an Ice planet because I liked the visuals when I visited one prior. I've done temperate and water prior. Any recommendations?
It depends on the available planet selection. Ice planets are really nice to build on because you do not have to be near a body of water to collect water. Also, their is an abundance of trees, usually all the basic resources for autominers. The snow can be very pretty(I usually generate certain weather patterns with the console because I love the snow and rain) but even the clear skies on a snow planet are pretty. If you are playing on the far vaster scenario Eden, well, there is a veritable banquet of planets that are awesome to build on. The only recommendation I would have is be wary of the gravity on some of the planets sunward. Building there could be lethal. Be sure to show pics of where you build!
The problem you will probably hit is CPU use. Even my very modest starter base (has 2 mini guns) is close enough to the tier 1 CPU limit that I cant add more guns. In fact I make do with mini guns when ideally cannons would be better. I found also that rocket drones seemed to start firing and inflicting considerable damage long before the mini guns would start firing. I get around now this by making one or two separate tier 1 defence towers that each have 4 cannons, 4 mini guns and 4 sentries on them. Cheap and quick to make. Two is ideal as then they can be on opposite sides of the base. See https://empyriononline.com/threads/what-did-you-do-in-empyrion-today.2826/page-1004#post-385729 if looking for inspiration - the towers are in this post. I also make my starter HV with a mini gun turret on it at level 5 (instead of the usual constructor that most people seem to go with), so that also serves as anti drone defence if I leave it outside as well.
Love your sheds mate! You have given me more ideas that's for sure. I had already started making my own versions of mini buildings dedicated to different tasks. But yours made me think of McHale's Navy right off the bat
I does! And here I did not think I could like this system even more than I already do. I have to find the ingredients for expansion in the hardest to reach alien containers!? *applause*
