Been finally finishing off my 'Eagle' heavy lift drop ship. It is a companion to my Meekat and Mongoose T4 assault HVs to carry and deploy them, provide close air support, loot carriage etc. It is an almost max CPU T4 SV, 5k ammo, 15k cargo. All SV weapons sets if you cant make you mind up what you want to use and huge amount of thrust: 6 M thrust jets for lift, 2 L jets for forward, 2 M for reverse a load of large T2 thrusters for other directions with signals to enable aux thrusters as needed (for fuel eco, space, high-G etc). It is fully High G (4G+) planet capable for lifting and assault duties. Also 6 passenger seats, 2 constructors, locker, o2, warp and shield of course. For front HV pickup on the front 'talons; dual projector parallax or pickup alignment for the HVs - just align the cockpit crosshair with the +s to line them all up and go forward until a sensor switches them off and you will be perfectly aligned with the pads on the HV. For back HV docking, hover very close to ground (high G friendly so a solo players can get in and out of all craft safely) - align HV to cross on back and follow the projector indicators in a you will be perfectly docked - view from inside HV, almost docked: Can carry 2 HVs, but normally would just carry one. The back dock is single player friendly as no danger of leaving the SV too high to get back into. Front talon dock is better for multiplayer (unless they allow HVs to be detached from within the SV). In solo I often just dump an HV on the ground and let it fend for itself with all its turrets while I stay in the SV and take out turrets etc. Now that's done - starting a PE swamp world
It is fun that playing Project Eden has become so popular that it has its own abbreviation acronym - "PE." Think I will also go start a new PE game on a snow dwarf.
Built a basic gunbase to figure out how the raids will work. not bothering to paint or publish it until I see how it gets broken.
Why stop there? How about "Aurora Rings"? For the Topic: Trying again at trying to figure out how to make a SV I can be satisfied with... still can't seem to be satisfied with anything I try, ideas-wise... -_-
What kind of HV do you try to achieve? In my PE-starts on the Dead Planet I build 5 HVs, from a Bare Bone Skeleton to a full blown Explorer
Most commonly, Hover War Tanks & Hover Miners... though I dunno what the point of this is in regards to my always having a hell of a hard time trying to make SVs...
Snow dwarf starter began very rough. I found the colony base and there was a copper deposit next to it with a plasma drone that became untethered to its patrol and chased me for a crazy loop. After dying several times from the cold I decided rather than start a new game I would itemmenu-in a debug assault rifle, took care of the drone, then tossed the rifle in the trash. After that it was a methodical base building attempt that was still harrowing - it got mighty cold during several cold snaps. Then I went to the colony base and murdered the trouble-maker drone several times. To add insult to injury I used a tier 1 shotgun. To really brighten my day the seed had a tier 2 shotty waiting for me in the base: After the colony base I went back and added a few small finishing touches to my home base: I found an odd null zone where I could not place a block: I am liking this cute little scenario PDA stuff. It is now directing me to go to orbit. Very neat.
Well today I made a very bad copy of @Khazul tower defense. I wanted to see if it could just run on solar power with that many guns. Just testing it for now. I know it looks bad
And Then I decided that I rather despised that iteration of the gunbase, Scrapped the whole thing and made another. We will see how this one does... at least it is under CPU budget.
Nice - probably more efficient than mine This is the stats screen from mine of it helps: Fine in the day of course. I cant remember if the capacitor lasts over night. I generally only stick a few of fuel cells in it and I don't recall ever bothering after that. My original version of this was cheaper to make as it was mostly concrete - that was until I userstood a bit more about structural integrity in this as watched one fo the gun pads fall off after it got hit by a missile. So the current one is all/mostly steel. I havnt published this blueprint, but happy to publish it as a steam friends access if you want it. I figured the towers and sheds, pads etc are all a bit primitive for public consumption
I thought with the first one you had a kind of protected fire point in the middle for sniping at drone - it gave me in idea
Saw your's has o2 tank. Yeah mine has no generator in it at all. Most of my small builds all run on solar. Even that landing pad is solar. Has a full solar system on it so I can add things to it. When I have it spawned in by the game it only has a fridge and food processor on it. The rest is just solar. Funny thing is I'm still waiting for the tower to charge up. It never fails when you go to do a test, Murphy shows up. I haven't had anything but storms and radiation days. So I keep killing bugs to stock my fridge. The CV there is dead in the water right now. No resources to power it yet.
In that particular case it was more for Observation. Gotta be forward of the Base guns to snipe drones... less range on hand weapons.
Re O2 tank - just because it kept whinging at me about the lack of it. TBH - I don't recall ever seeing the thing charged even in the nice sunny creative world. Crappy weather in this as well - (PE Swamp) - Finally I'm escaping it and heading to one of the moons.
The Structures are not even blending with the snow! Btw., using Solar Power and placing several Deco Antennas...They still EAT Power, 5PU each I think.
Testing the Jungle starting planet to make sure you can actually survive on it. Admiring the view: It's a long ways down! Taking a swim to cool off: Finally found the silicon needed for a survival constructor: And made a cooler: Will be added as an available starting planet for Alpha 12.
