I posted in the general forum yesterday about this issue. I hadn't seen your linked thread, but what you say is exactly right. People get hung up on adding loads of pointless hover engines, the core location and so on. It is the overall center of the ship once spawned that matters. So the fix is as you described. At least for now. Some of this may have mattered in the past, but I never messed with blueprinting in the past, since i just play solo survival. A guy named Gelflings posted pics and a description, LiftPizzas confirmed - and until something changes, I can confirm. http://empyriononline.com/threads/something-odd-about-blueprinting-my-hv.4522/
interesting, though i do think the hover engines do play some part in it cause of the way glaive works vs normal hv's
(HV) SC-Skiff: This hover vehicle, the SC-Skiff (SC = Scout Craft) is intended to be a quick and affordable exploration vehicle for transportation, resource gathering and avoiding enemies that you can build very early on. It is unarmed and burns extremely little fuel. It has Dual fridges and three storage containers for extended forays. My Steam name is also Serevanth. I hope you enjoy it.
(HV) AC-Anura: The AC-Anura (AC = Assault Craft) is a Hover Vessel designed for longer forays of surface exploration, resource gathering, and assaults on enemy POIs. It performs stably and maneuvers well. The AC-Anura boasts two side Gatling gun turrets for defense and two forward facing Gatling guns for assault. This version also comes equipped with an Artillery turret for long range assaults. It carries 3 fridges, 8 fuel tanks, an O2 station and 8 O2 tanks, 4 Ammo boxes, 2 small constructors and 8 storage containers. All of which are tucked away behind blast doors for modest protection against incoming fire. I have try it and import it in my Multiplayer game, it is very great design. I have remove a fridge and a box for add a oxygen system. Thanks !
Hmmm... What's the point in putting 3 extra hover engines? And two thrusters firing down? Two machine guns in front are for decoration, that's clear.
well thrusters aiming down make it reach max height faster i belive, extra hover would imagin to keep it balanced and not dinging up edges as you cross country. but i could be wrong it could all jsut be for appearence and/or simitry lol
While I didn't try that idea with an HV, I tried it with a CV. The problem (version 5.1, might be fixed in later versions) when I started adding elevators down was that the CV would start moving/bouncing. Especially close to terrain. Once the whole CV bounced up and flew 50 meters away and upside down. I shouldn't have done the first test on Aestus, because that became not fun quickly. The next problem is how to extract yourself while removing elevators. Sometimes you fall out of them. And if you want to land elsewhere with the elevators, you either have to find a hill or something to land on that gives you room to remove them. Or fly to space I guess. I will still experiment with the idea, because I would love to land on the hostile planets with the safety of my CV's turrets.
OK im loving this idea, im gonna have to make one myself lol! P.S. there is way to cheat infinite jetpack IF u really must you know lol
I am aware of the jetpack bug, but we shouldn't rely on that because some day it's gonna get fixed. So we gotta work on legit ways of doing things
I think I saw one of those in the steam work shop already when I was looking last night! They said to use it to put it slightly away from where the deposit is and dig down, and then dig sideways/at an angle into the deposit, so then you can walk/jetback back up into the HV!
The three extra hover engines helped quite a bit with stability of flight, I added them because the vehicle kept rolling down the sides of mountains while cruising the landscape. That was several updates ago I have not tested it without them in recent updates. The down facing thrusters provide it with better lift when using the Boosters, I added them when I had trouble getting the vehicle to navigate the ramp in and out of my underground base in survival mode. And you are correct, the Gatling guns are purely for decorating enemies
Thought I'd show off my HV, the Jackel. I only have one, been slowly built up to this over a survival game. The seats aren't in my survival version, but where added to make use of the room. This versatile tank seats 8 plus one driver. The top turret is accesable from the back compartment. This is designed for long range missions and has extra storage, fuel tanks, and food stoarge as well as a constuctor. It boasts 2 side mini guns and an artillery cannon on top. I've seen heaps and hops of Swedish servers so this game must be pretty popular in our neighbor. So I made a little special something for all you Swedes out there, I'm sure you'll feel right at home with this. Enjoy! http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=625627752
I made a revamp from my Glaive-UH Replica and called it the TivATH http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=628349233
Currently I'm striving to make even smaller ships with even less resources, I think this comes pretty close to smallest possible! I made tiny attack scooter which can travel inside buildings, all you need is a gap, that automated door leaves behind when it explodes. This is a Hover-craft version of the original Mini-Raid. Needs a slightly bigger gap to get it in, and gatling is not as efficient as rocket-launcher, but should help you clear first few bases without heaps of med-kits. Hover-craft version is also easier to "fly" inside the buildings so.... I used the Original Mini-Raid to do a complete cleanup inside all enemy bases in both Omicron and Akua, seems to work fine at least on starter planets. After that who knows, but by then you should've come across or built slightly better armaments anyways. Hover-version was only tested on Akua's weapon factory. Seems to work, but it's not as fast or efficient due to smaller speeds of HC and need to use gatling instead of rockets, since rocket turret would need space that equals two ships And the blueprint link: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=630185549
I don't generally support Hover crafts(as soon as you reach sufficient level to craft small vessel), since they're too slow, clumsy and unable to leave planets, however this experimental thingy turned out to be both "good looking" and fun so I'm actually going to publish it. Works best with two players, one flying and other one sitting in the turret. Based on my Mini-A Small vessel so this is cheap to produce, with tiny combat profile, agile maneuvering and turret does decent damage. Only downside is that artillery shells require more raw materials than rockets and splash damage is weaker as well, so this is more of a fun thing to mess around with a friend than actual efficient killing machine. Parked in sundown at Omicron Parked inside self built hangar at invaded and altered Xenu temple. This is efficient enough cover to leave the vessel, drones won't at least currently attack things inside hangars. Blueprint link: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=636941134
