Probably too big to be considered micro, but it fits through a 13x7 door and I can even get it inside my cruiser/carrier CV and close its doors T1/L7 unlock, 2 x 120K cargo, 8k ammo, 3 x 8k containers, Fridge 2 x cannon turret (top) 2 x minigun turret (below) Large constructor, 2 x Small constructor, Food processor Clone, O2, Wireless, Showers, Toilet, Bed, Closet Locker, Gravity Fly through hangar (5x3 doors, 7x5 pad) - can easily get an small HV and a small SV in together Upgrades: T2, Additional Large or Advanced constructor Armor repair Full Medical (all devices) T1 Generator Warp, Shield, Pentaxid tank 4 side turret mounts More thrusters if required Workshop - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2031055472 Edit - now on workshop
I played around with it considerably, I was impressed that you managed to get the fly-through hangar using the small hangar doors. Observations: The craft is underpowered and redlines the generators during atmospheric flight. I was able to resolve this by adding a 4th small generator. The pilot gets roasted by the reverse thrusters. While I was goofing around I moved them to the roof. There are multiple redundant devices, while it is CPU compliant you can shave CPU points by removing the small constructors. Since the craft has a large constructor and a food console they are not needed. Move the armor locker to a space vacated by one of the small constructors. I hope you take this feedback in the spirit it is intended, I do like the build. If you would like to see the changes I made, I will include the save file.
I've been doing roof access. Almost all of my small CV have roof access I believe. I am working on a couple more, and I haven't worked out roof access on those yet. The one WIP I am debating making tier 2 from the get go. Otherwise, it is going to be a mostly empty hull waiting for everything meant to be in there. But on the other hand, I have been making the rest of the set tier 1, so if I am to be consistent....
I'll take a look at this lot later. Only been playing this for a few weeks, so any feedback is useful This was originally a tier 2 build in it upgraded form (with an additional T1 generator for the shields - I guess I didn't check enough when I downgraded it). I was originally planning on a single M thruster center of roof slope, but that pushes it to L10. As for constructors, I find I personally tend to use many of them in parallel just because of their (lack of) speed, but that is just me Not yet loaded you save as I cannot get the game to see it. Perhaps it is an experimental save (indeed it is from the v in the .dat file) and I recently switched back to release (for a dedicated server I am setting up). From the picture, my only issue is that I wanted to have a pair of turrets on the top to provide drone defence while parked - this is why the thrusters were at lower front.
@Robot Shark OK - figured out how to load your saved game - turns out I need to rename the player files before it will see it. So, my comment on your changes: It is a much cleaner looking build especially inside - well done From a pure cosmetic perspective - I prefer it. However, for me personally, it isn't a build I would find as functionally useful - the space that you have taken up with storage controllers, locker etc (which look great how you have done it) is where the full medical would go at level 10. I don't like not having top turrets (for anti-drone defence while I mining - even hearing then start firing is a useful audible alarm) - you cant really have them with the thrusters up there. Actually the only alternate location is top corners which looks horrible, or loose the capability for side mount at the front (which is less of a loss perhaps). Side turret have their uses (help in LZ clearing, active drone hunting etc), but I don't find them as important. Even very most basic early game start HV has a turret on it even if its main use is to let me hear it that something is incoming. I wasn't getting roasted in the cockpit, but probably thats a bug as you are right - I should be and so they need to move. I don't find I need that much storage until way later in the game - 160k of ore for eg is a massive amount of ore - probably enough to build a size class 8-10 CV of base etc and far more than anyone is likely to have during the useful life of a small starter CV. Also the odd number you get from placing container extensions in odd shaped blocks tends to upset my OCD With POI looting I find I need storage slots more than storage space - hence the additional containers. I also find separate little container help organising storage a bit better, for eg ill often use just for supplies - fuel, o2, personal ammo etc. 8k ammo is plenty for the number and types of turrets. I was originally going to put a lot more on the controllers, but didn't in order to limit max mass and to reduce CPU (for more constructors). Personally, I like to have the extra small constructors - just handy for making bulk consumable, ore process etc in the background leaving the main one free for specific uses. Moving generator to where they have to be removed for the shield - make sense - good idea. Just reflection how we play driving how we build I guess - yours is definitely prettier My preference re thrusters - loose front side turrets (which makes it slightly easier to pilot into my cruiser CV):
Haven't played in a few weeks. Strangely have felt like I could be more creative in a completely different genre. Decided to take a little time tonight to finish up one of my builds in EGS and update on the Workshop. I decided to make the Courage public. This was a very different build for me. Instead of building a starter CV and leaving space for selected upgrades, I built the tier 2 version and then removed the excess to get down to a tier 1 build. Could have left the warp drive in and stayed under tier 1, but this is part of a series of "warp-less" CVs I have been building, so I removed the warp engine too. The space was intended for a shield. It just happened that the way engineering fell that I could slip in one or the other pentaxid upgrade. However, the Courage was a prior build of mine before CPU and/or shields, so the option for warp seemed to be an appropriate homage to the original CV that I scrapped. I think the removal of three constructors and replacement of the fourth with a standard large constructor worked out better than I had anticipated. Now I really haven't been spending time on texture and painting my stuff for a while now, but I realized that I almost put blocks in the space reserved for the shield upgrade. So I decided give myself a reminder why the BP shouldn't have anything in that space initially.
Here's the last of the vessels I had drafted way back when and now it is finally finished. Thus completes my series of CV designed to fit into this challenge. Pekin And instead of a bunch of pics, I did a video with a little tour and showing some potential upgrades designed into the BP.
