Hi guys, I have a question to you all. I know that a base cant have more than one core, but there is a function when building that allow you to connect blocks to a base even if those blocks are not directly in contact to the base. It allows for a "grid" placement of blocks and thus permit one to perfectly align the blocks with a currently build base. So that got me thinking: Is it possible to "connect" a newly spawned base to another by using this function? I am not talking about creating a single base with two cores. The bases would be completly independent entities from one another, just that they would be physically connected or aligned so that one could in theory build walkways or even bridges between the two without the need of console commands to do so. The question concern mainly to multiplayer, where class size and admin privileges limit the spawn of very large structures by the player.
I used to do something SIMILAR, the platform connects all these bases, there are base blocks within the platform, very easy to do just by eye, they match up perfectly, Here i USED FILLER TO GET MY BASES/PLATFORM FLOATING, I spawned each base, to platform. its just a matter of butting new base/block, upto the LAST block from previous base.
For now you can not "connect" bases with separate cores, you have to find a way to align them manually, like put up corner or "connection" blocks to guide the placement. In creative you can "merge" bases (or do cut/copy - paste). Even tricking with devices between BA, CV, SV, HV. Have to admin spawn not allowed ones though. Else you have the N menu "Connect to base (name of base should show)", if to manually build something away from the base. "Floating" bases is (for now) only a function for bases as POIs, probably see the placing as in orbit, where SI is off. So if find one and like the location, then can always change it - manually.
I wish there was at least a grid align option when placing. In Space engineers there is such an option so putting a new base down on the grid alignment of another base is possible.
