Silly question, but I cant figure out how to move my weapons around in the hotbar on a ship. Since we need the detector in the hotbar, i'd like to have it on the same key on all vessels. Thanks in advance!

They get set on the way you install the weapons. Cant manual change them. Other then remove all weapons and reinstall in the order you want them to show up

  3. That's not true at all though.
As you can see in the video below I build a SV and place the weapons in this order,
Gatling gun, regular rocket, homing rocket, and rail gun.

However when I get in the cockpit they are in a completely different order,
Homing rocket, regular rocket, rail gun, gatling gun.

The game chooses the order based on some internal setting that we aren't privy to. It's in no way determined by the order you install the weapons and has been this way for years now.
Sure, once in a while it just happens to match the order you placed them, but it's rare and is NOT determined by the order installed.

So yes, it would be much appreciated if the devs would finally change this and allow us to choose the order they show up. If they won't do that then they at least need to fix it so it ACTUALLY shows in the correct order installed, always and without exception.

I don't want my homing rockets to show up first on my hotbar but the game chooses otherwise and I have ZERO control over it.
This is especially an issue because the game switches back to slot 1 every time you get in the cockpit and then you end up wasting expensive homing rockets when you wanted to use gatling guns.

Happens to me too. I get detector on first slot which brings up another question for me re: toolbar - is there a way so that last selected slot remains active unless changed manually? It keeps defaulting back to 1 when you exit ship which I find annoying it would be nice if option was there to keep last slot selected.

Yes, the weapon hotbar is a pain in the butt but not the end of the world.

  6. Not the end of the world, no.
When a developer says it works one way when it clearly doesn't I'm sure as heck going to point it out though.
If it's supposed to work the way they said then it's been bugged for years now and never been fixed (and we've reported it MANY times now too).

it's bad form if it's been reported multiple times and nothing has been done about it. KEEN has this bad habit and we all know how well they're going currently, on a downhill spiral of disappointment.

Bit confused here. If we have just been told this is how it should be working. We find out that it doesn't. Nothing said it was a bug. The Dev might have been wrong in his understanding. We have seen this happen to more then one Dev.
As to reporting it many times. Would it be more like requesting a change in how the hot bar works, so we can define it. Your implying that this has been reported as a bug many times.

  9. What is there to be confused about?
I'm not saying it is supposed to work that way, and I'm not saying it's bugged. I'm saying "If" it's supposed to work that way then it's bugged. The "If" makes all the difference in what I said.
We've reported it many times as in we've pointed it out many times, not as in bug reports. I know that I've pointed this fact out more than once myself. Yes, maybe I should have said "mentioned" instead of "reported". I didn't intend for that to mean bug reports.

This isn't the first time I've seen a developer claim that they are placed in the hotbar in the order they are installed. So I took it upon myself to point out that this isn't true.
People make mistakes (I know I sure do) and it could very well be a case of just a misunderstanding on their part.
However, if the developers think it works one way and it actually doesn't, don't you think someone should point that out to them?

Just to be 100% clear here,
I'm not saying it's bugged. I was only saying that IF it is supposed to work that way THEN it's bugged. It's a conditional if/then statement.

If you noticed I didn't quote your whole post, just the one line. I agree with your first post about it not working the way they said it should have worked your video spoke volumes. A please explain to a dev is clearly needed.
You have explained what you meant about reporting. You have cleared up my confusion as to your meaning. Thank you. :)

...I would just like it to work the same way as your personal hotbar. Dragging items into preferred slots.

Agreed. I really hope Eleon has it on the roadmap to make the Vehicle Hotbar work similar to the G bar in Space Engineers. A player should be able to rearrange devices on the hotbar and they should be able to add signals to the hotbar as well.

It DEFINITELY is not working to remove all weapons/detector and then place detector first..then weapons. It AUTOMATICALLY will move the weapon to the first slot. I have not tried to start a ship from scratch and add the detector then a weapon, and see if it still moves itself in the hotbar. But the current situation effectively eliminates any possibility from setting this up from ANY current ship blueprint in existence, period.

In my opinion, there needs to simply be consistency with HOW the hotbar behaves regardless if your in a ship, or not. The necessity for having detectors in the hotbar has just exasperated what had (again, in my opinion), previously been an annoyance.

  14. It does move itself.
I built a SV and put the detector on first and used it just like that for a while. The detector was in slot 1.
I then later on added 2 gatling guns. Those 2 gatling guns took over the first slot and pushed the detector into slot 2.

I then built a second SV exactly like the first. This time I placed the gatling guns on first and the detector second.
This still resulted in the gatling guns being in the first slot and the detector being in the second slot, exactly the same as before.

Like my post above says, the game has some internal setting that chooses the order of the hotbar and absolutely nothing we do changes that order. I wish the order they were installed did matter, but it doesn't. The game chooses on it's own what the order will be.

I'm wondering why the Detector has to be in the hotbar now. It doesn't even show in the bar in my v11 HV. Is this the intended future, where all detectors have to be in the hotbar, even the handheld one that's always worked from your backpack?

I don't know whats the Understanding-Barrier here is...

The Detector did not show up in A11 HV because it had not active "ping"...
With A12 you can ACTIVE search for POI and Deposits.

Handheld Detector A11 - ORE Deposit detection under Ground!
    A12 - as HV/SV/CV

If you don't want to "ping" you don't have to and just strain your Eyes...and the PC/Graphic card with Best possible Performance...

Simple Answer: It change from a solely passive item to an active item which will have greater range on activation. It is one of the HUGE changes to A12

Ah it's a new thing for A12, Gotcha. Thanks. I hadn't registered that in my reading.
