Cool. Is the Dead Planet as horrible (WONDERFUL!) as I remember? I thought I'd give the Snow Dwarf a go this time, as I'd been enjoying the vanilla Snow Planet start so much. Scoob.
Actually its the Dead2 Planet. Its different. It has no weather, no Air, no food, almost no Wood, just a few surface Rocks of Iron, Copper and Silicon. All other Stuff has to be found. In the PE-Test Phase I was able to build a new HV and a CV. And it takes a lot of time to level up.
Nice. Radiation? I might be getting confused, but it was the Dead Planet start in the prior version where you began in the bunker right? Then the area around it was heavily irradiated and early-game was all about looting. Scoob.
Dead Planet is a Start from a Cryo Facility into the -20° C Cold and with 7.0 Rad Dead Planet 2 is start from a bunker, moderate Temperatures, -5 to +35 or so after it comes Rogue and Dark Rogue
Further to my earlier point. I captured the Lost Colony and have proceeded to dismantle it. Once again, demolishing stuff so block fall I cannot pick up the blocks. Well, I press the key to do so, get the usual "click" noise, but the blocks go no where. Most odd! Scoob.
Can't see anything. So far it's been Concrete and Carbon Substrate blocks that don't yield anything, not tried steel. Scoob.
The rogue planet start is amazing. The snow planet will likely still be my favorite because it starts you out with the neat dungeons, but the dead planet starts and the rogue are great fun and well worth doing and coming back to. I am not even finished with the rogue planet start after a late morning and afternoons worth of game play. Scoob, you might not like the dead planet starters because there is nothing to shoot at, but you might get a kick out of the rogue planet starter(Ultra.) Next up for me will be the Alien, but that will be in a few days.
Those usually don't yield anything or much at all because they're so cheap to begin with that the game often rounds down the drops to nothing.
I did wonder that, though when you're picking up 30+ blocks, you'd expect to get something right? Not to worry though. On an unrelated note: Base Attacks. Do they correctly ramp up in Project Eden? In vanilla, mine are always stuck on level 0 and never progress. Only had a single Level 3 Troop Transport so far with three Troops. Nice for a very early-game attack as it was, but trivial even now on my barely upgraded base. Zirax are SOOO much better at the base assault part since A12, just a shame they never send enough Transports and Drones to give them a fair chance of landing. Scoob.
I haven't changed the faction warfare yet (that's what controls base attacks). I'm still not sure what exactly controls how hard they are.
Ok. I used to modify Playfields a while back now to add ever increasing waves of tougher Drones, it was dead cool. I'd hope to one day see something similar as part of the base game - it looks like it's more than capable, but Base attacks seem to stay static at a certain level in my experience. Scoob.
Well, for the first time ever I had a combo base attack. When I returned to planet after a brief moon and orbital playfield exploration I came home to this: I went out and killed those drones assuming it would only be the drones, in fact, if the turrets had not killed that transport, I might have lost my base. Which was awesome.
I'm enjoying the faction changes. I've just spawned in my CV and already 3 are hostile and nothing is friendly. I might stay and do the missions, ah descisions. I love it.
I dought @ravien_ff has tested all starts one by one to see if they are set properly and are enough balanced, especially the most difficult ones. As I monitor the discussion here it goes like this : Some one might drop a line with a remark or complain and @ravien_ff will then chack and alter stuff at best or just give a hint for a solution.
Well, I was just fine untill I built a base (kinda had to to progress - no other way to get an SV going... ) and failed miserably at first base attack. 5 drones and one troop transport. Then again, I did not play it optimally at all and looking back... if I start it again and be carefull not to do the same mistakes, I think I could handle it.
