Summary: Creating map markers produces weird results

Description: Making map markers in EXP has been... confusing. In some cases, making a marker and having it display will work fine, other times, you get weird results.

    1. For example, if you right click to set a map marker on a POI or structure, it will create that marker, but place it in a different coordinate than the location of said POI or structure. In this example, it will place it near the next closest POI available.
    2. Other instances you try and set a marker to be both shown on the HUD and remove when approached, and it creates a brand new identical map marker somewhere else than the one you selected (same name, different location)
    3. In some cases, you go through the process to make a map marker (custom or on a structure or POI) by right click and nothing happens
This is just within 3 minutes of making map markers.

Could not see (1) to happen, but can you please have a look with the next version, retest the issues an re-report/update this ticket please? :)

Same thing happened to me in sp mode. I tried to create a marker for my backpack it so I could find it, because it now requires the scanner to see it and after death I don't have one. It kept placing the marker about 200m to the south. Also I hardly ever get the ion I asked for, seems to select them at random.

I have seen this icon glitch. I've also seen the marker not show up on the HUD. However, all positioning on the map seems okay unless the problem is that my HUD marker is just somewhere I'm not looking.

If it helps, my friend on a co-op server, placed a map marker on our starting planet that persisted after we warped to other planets and even solar systems. Not sure if this is part of the same issue or a new one...

I've seen the same thing happen on the swamp start. There is such a cluster of wreckage's that when I tried to place a way point on the outpost there. It would use the icon I wanted, but placed it over one of the other wreckage's. It had the correct name I was trying to mark a way point for but wrong poi then the one I selected.

As you can see on the last photo the survey station is not anywhere near where the way point is location.

Yeah, it occurs on swamp starter, I cannot recreate this on a barren moon or anything.

I can reproduce this on Temperate Starter, yesterday (12.2).
There is some root cause with the map and locations causing all the Polaris missions to be unplayable (Privacy Matters, Wildlife Cam, saw those previously reported) because -- look, standing right on the ore deposit, come on, recognize that I'm here already.... there's a location reporting function that has a defect, sure of it.

Still some weirdness with map markers. For example:
    • It is difficult to impossible to remove map markers when you place a base on top of them (deleting them from map marker list appears to not work)
    • when editing a map marker, you can click outside the dialog box to change the coords mid-editing. This produces some undesirable results
    • Still not sure why, but default boxes for map markers change randomly. Either have it copy my last configuration, or don't have default boxes set.

Do you also get a duplicate map marker when you edit one? In other words, after editing, your list has the edited map marker but also the original map marker?

I also ran into a "Continue, Mail, Quit" error message when simply creating a map marker but nothing consistent on that yet to submit as an issue to the developers because the second attempt was successful.

Not really, those issues went away in subsequent patches.
