Nice to have you back (even though I wasn't active in the forums at the time)! Always enjoyable to have new and returning players come and enjoy the stars. Been addicted to this game since late April.
Today...ITs a good day to d... Kick ziraxes and Kriel assholes! Search for enemies continues Zirax Corvette Corvette was destroyed in 30 seconds And this is so loot along the way
So, today in my RG playthrough, I was on my way home after finding the buried bunker in the Talon quest... decided to take the long way and do some more exploring Came across another alien species out wandering in the wilds near a settlement. Guy had some kind of droid guards with him, but they were absolutely useless, oblivious to a pack of raptor-lookalikes stalking them. Fortunately, none of them managed to get in my way as I introduced the pack to a new iron-diet... the flechettes from my shotgun. Took out 6 of them, then helped the alien scout a few ore deposits. Seems he's a new planetary geologist working for a massive multispecies interstellar corporation here in Andromeda... and like the Talon, they don't care much for the Zirax. All in all, a lucky introduction. Having a beer in the trading post lounge later, another alien overheard I was a security specialist, and contracted me to look into some distribution issues. Now, I need to see what I can cobble and salvage together to take a trip upstairs... at least this one should be easier than cleaning out that abandoned mine I've set up camp in... right?
At least, the mine is more secure than my first base camp... here's to moving up in the world- Wherever the hell this world is...
aaand then I went back to the base, set up a bunch of stuff including a deconstructor; was putting stuff into a locker and the screen goes black. Had to hard restart my PC and the save's corrupted Don't think it was an RG issue, just a game-in-alpha issue; I'd been in and out of that locker several times already. Think I'll go try PE for a while.. I really like most of the RG changes, but I just cant face the base quests again right now
So I decided to give the ice planet start a try ... planet name - "Han" ... I kept looking over my shoulder hoping R2D2 and C3PO would come rescue me in the Millennium Falcon. I'm still waiting ... LOL. Not a bad start, but yeah - the resources are extremely thin compared to the other 3 starts. It may be suicide, but I set progression on "slow" ... currently level 8 and I just purchased my modular starter base from the factory. I've uploaded the first installment of the modular collection .... https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2137784906. As always ... comments are welcome ... Oh, and a couple of other things ... 1. I noticed the solar panels are considered "air tight" and verified this using 2 panels as the side wall. If that's the case, then how come you can see between them ... LOL. 2. Another thing I've noticed is that for the ALN POI's on a planet, there are ALWAYS two that are identical ... e.g. two drone bases, two factories, etc. I'm pretty sure they're using a random generator to determine which POIs for each planet, but I think there's a hic-cup in their routine. Has anyone else noticed this? Is it intentional? On the plus side it's nice to clear the 2nd POI and know what's in store. However, if the intent is to provide a "unique" experience, the POIs shouldn't be doubled ... just my thoughts.
There are not that many POI's to draw from. They have to fit into certain "requirements". Many are adapted for different Factions. While recently most of those Players who create those POI had to upgrade their own and those POI that were done by other Players to function within the current State of the Game. The POI's are constantly reworked, adapted, improved, bolstered because Device and Game Mechanic Changes. There is currently only a Handful of those Creative minds at work. So, One POI at a time...some go faster, some need more time.
Fun on high-G planets ... Well Learned things today... Built a High End CV - Theoretically for High-G Planets ..... Yeah.. well Tested on High-G Planet -- Duh - Uhh -- Just No -- Back to the Drawing Board (*curses*) - ..... Love it wken a 'great plan' Falls apart Learned #1 : That Near Thrusters or generators takes me to 700+ degrees --- died several times in my ship ! (i shud have known this ... but last big CV build was back in alpha - 7 ... when CVs sort of tended to shake you out then run off to have their own life, presumably somewhere else in the galaxy - ) Sooooo new CV shape an extra layer - and .. looks a lumbering behemoth now (- not the sleek thing i had in mind) and Soooo have to find way to rehouse and hide LOTS more thrusters! (recalculated -- hut CPU now close to 1,500,000 ) .. not the early gamish thing i was intending at all ) Learned #2 - All my internal ramps are insurmountable obstacles at high-G -- need to fit alternative elevator blocks (well there is a solution) Learned #3: - When on high -G planet with broken Leg (from using ramps!) --- can't find way to mount into my CV ... arrghh can't get into elevators --- and my boarding ramps --- well See above. (Suggestions anyone?? - i now have to get Down -- 3 Blocks -- see thruster problem .. 1) at 4G. - solution pending Learned #4:- Now tried all of my ... 'own stock' SVs .. for funsies ok - One lightly armed one could at least make it off the ground -- given a good run -- with no load but manouverability = yuk - like stearing a whale. Yeah one performs well -- But is Open cockpit - unarmed - unarmourd - made of composite ... Sooo ... Back to drawing board. what was i originally trying to do ... after so many sidetracks .. sort of forgotten..... Tired now ... and 'toon' holding tool - tool kind of jiggles-- really disconcerting. .. need sleep. 'Working -- un-armed open cockpit - but otherwise useless. 'big failure .. 'dead duck' -- CV -- lots of work to make high-G compatible -- no chance of cheapness ... sigh. at least 2 extra medium up -thrusters to get to 2m/s up at 4G unloaded -----------------------------------------
For gravity related questions remember that a "g" is 9.8 m/s^2. So if a planet is 4g, then it is 4 * 9.8 JUST to break even. For decent acceleration in a situation like that the ship would probably need 100 m/s^2. What this entails is a design decision - why are you carrying all that extra stuff? <- I say this not really, specifically, directed at you but also that/this was a question I had to ask myself. I tend to try to create ships that are equipped with redundancies of EVERYTHING and for high-g woulds one needs to get out the trimming shears. So create a combat ship that has the minimum needed for killing some POI's or drones, and then go do your thing, THEN return to your base or CV and fly out a separate cargo ship. Mind you, if you are looking for mass-cargo hauling, a cargo hauling CV is a far better option. Be careful of HV's on high-g worlds. True, the hover engines can over come gravity very comfortably, but the second you need to travel up an incline, you are in trouble.
Today, we still gathered, bargained, carried it out, to Zeus and it was built, now the galaxy will openly welcome 4 on two ships with two tanks =))) Damn, you will have to wipe the golden designers tightly after shooting Zirax and Kriel! Now we go !!! In parallel, they began to survive on the ice planet - vanilla hard rules, food and stamina rates are all on hard! We built a base along the way dousing with a hot drink and throwing it at energy bars, dodging a swarm of drones and a herd of raptors !!! UCH Dart - LIF Indastries modification
Yeah, i was trending towards that thought , but the i'll just do top end , then cut it down approach - didn't work it just kinda of ballooned.... as these things do, well i'll complete this - if it kills me then work on a 'low cost' solution set that i can actually use at my lowly gamestage - i already have some ideas based on this experience. The design bit is what actually keeps me going back to empyrion , not the lootin, so whilst a pain -- i kind of enjoy that bit.
Today in Empyrion I was at a premiere show in Gaolosa Star Port.... As you might think, it was not easy to get tickets for me and my green girlfriend....... [media]
You want to create ships for high gravity? Here's a list of ships that (at least used to) work well on High Gravity planets. https://steamcommunity.com/workshop/filedetails/?id=1293961490 (Please note, they WERE high gravity capable = usualy between 3-4 G, however that was before A12 ! -- No idea which ones - if any - are still HG capable) High Gravity (HG) is fun up to about 3g. Afterwich it just becomes a pain. Either way, guess I'll need to update my creative studio - given their changes with A 12 - as it offered different gravity planets ranging from 0.7 to 5.0 That might be helpfull for building an engine more fit for high gravity. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1538985936 Hope this helps
