Well this happened yesterday for my time zone but here goes... So yesterday I experience the joy of loosing two SVs (now I have lost 6 out of about 8) one due to assaulting a Zirax defense area and it getting too wounded to bother repairing, and the other due to assaulting a Zirax factory without doing prior recon to discover it had at least one missile turret which killed me. So I raged and cheated my way to victory via God mod. Felt bad about that and went to a prior save before assaulting the factory. I spent the rest of my time going around solar systems trying to find one that could be my base of operations. To be honest I think I'll be setting up shop next to or in Kriel space to fight something that isn't Zirax. I do need to see how their POI's are.
I spent the morning doing work for Talon. Unfortunately I encountered a problem with The Tower mission (the one where you follow a signal to a ancient Legacy tower in their territory). Arriving at the pyramidal tower, rather than simply drop into the hole near the top that gets you inside it, I decided to send in my drone in first to scout it. This triggered the trapdoor closing behind it however I was still outside. I couldn't get the trap to reset so I could actually enter. The POI has an admin core (indestructible, of course) and so I wasn't able to breech it with my weapons. This left me stuck for completing the mission. I finally had to go to my PDA and check off the remaining steps in that portion of the mission and go on with the longer story.
Replying to myself because, really, who doesn't talk to themselves? I just now noticed the "Territories" button in the galaxy map view. Would have saved me a whole lot of time. Oh well. In other news, I apparently found a button somewhere that converted all of my waypoints to simple map markers, so they no longer show up on the HUD. Either that or it's a bug. Now I need to try to remember which lava planet I put my autominers on...
I updated my favorite CV prefab in the game again, and shared it in the Steam workshop. It's now called CORE Patron V in the game. The original designer is Mr.IceCat on Steam, he called it the Polaris. I grabbed an updated copy of his version when Alpha 10 came out, gutted it, and installed a shield and a bunch of other upgrades. I've updated that design for A12 and it now includes a T4 CPU. It has enough engine to handle a 5G planet, and I like to be able to stop as fast as I start, so the forward facing thrust is big too. One caveat - I've been playing with mass/volume disabled, so if you have that enabled you'll probably need to tear out the old style cargo and ammo boxes and replace them. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2166521647
Yesterday and today, I have been working on my own system of container vessels. The 1U is 7 x 19 x 7 blocks, tier 2 and has a single 12,000 SU container. The 2U is 7 x 38 x 7 blocks, tier 3 and has two containers, 32k and 16.5k SU respectively. It is functional. I just need to finish up the cabin from where you actually "fly" the container itself. The 4U is 14 x 38 x 7 blocks, will be tier 4 and is currently just the basic framework of a hull. I suppose if I didn't build for 2.0 gravity, these could have a far greater carry capacity. I figure that when I get around to building a couple HV to haul these container vessels, these SV will need to be capable of lifting themselves from HV to another vessel. Since a vessel with a docked vessel cannot dock to another vessel, I cannot get a HV from planetside to zero-G without first moving the SV container off the HV. As such, I am building these container SV capable of moving themselves with a full hold of ore in 2.0 gravity. Which is why the 1U only holds a measely 12,000 SU. At least I already finished the Raven CV, so even though I don't have any of the HV built yet, at least I have something already capable of carrying these container vessels.
Today I did more exploring, Mining and Plundering POI's. Luck had it that I got 3 Abandoned Reactors in LOS to each other and one Abandoned Mine. So far, after 2 POI's the Loot isn't that bad. just that the older POI seem to provide the better stuff - 1 T2 Sniper and an Epic Plasma Canon together with 2 Large Optronic Matrix and 4 Small Optronic Matrix. Very practical that all POI are in a Semi Circle around the Polaris Trade Station.
Once I found the "Territories" button on the Galaxy Map, I finally spotted a distant Legacy territory and headed over there. It's a good thing I have a lot of resources - I spent around 400 pentaxid on warp jumps. I wish I could go more than 30ly in a jump! Now I'm one jump away and, wow. Neutron stars and a rare green star. This should be interesting. Or maybe even "fun", in the Dwarf Fortress way.
Today I.... in principle, I rested from empyrion but I went into the creative and I think I still want from big vessels ... there are 2 frigates, even 2.5 ... there is a SV, there is a tank, there are useful initial hovers ... you still have to pervert =)
In SP unfortunately, yes... I wish we could control docking pads remotely... I'm thinking of a ship that drops a couple of these, and has room for two passengers... So, in MP You drop two guys in these, they position and deploy the thingies, You pick up the guys, and go on...
You can alter the max warp distance by modifying the WarpDrive block in "BlocksConfig.ecf". +Block Id: 720, Name: WarpDrive Change the max distance line for Light Years from 30 to whatever you want. We used 100 on our server. RangeLY: 30, display: true You can similarly alter the distance of the teleporters.
Why in the world does the crashed infector base have an admin core? Is there some quest on this legacy homeworld that doesn't show up in my PDA? That makes this thing pretty much useless for me - I can't even approach it if I can't destroy the turrets.
Made a bit of progress on the little fighter this evening. Still has all the basics: Warp, Shields, Constructor, Storage, Weapons, Fridge, & Oxygen. Added a couple RCS in addition to the hull changes. On the workshop - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2164266612 (still a WIP, but fully functional)
Well, the 4U is functional. I am where I was with the 2U container earlier, just need to finish the cabin. Now I am wondering if I can even build a tier 4 HV that can haul up to 2.32 kilotons in 2.0 gravity. Fortunately, most ores aren't as heavy as the ingots I was using to evaluate whether these container SVs could handle 2.0 gravity themselves. I was estimating 20 kg per SU, which is the current kg per SU for platinum ingots. Sathium ingots came close, but 20 kg per SU is easier math than 19.2 kg, even if I am using a spreadsheet formula to do the number crunching. Perhaps I am over working the mass lift capability of my SV per SU carry capacity, but if I figure that unless someone fills them up with hardened steel blocks or the limited list of heavier building blocks, these container SV should be quite capable of being moved from one vessel to another. For both the 2U and 4U models, I grouped a numbers of thrusters into what I called the "HighGAssistModule". The empty container vessel is a lot easier to control with those thrusters turned off. Once I finish the initial work on the 4U, I will make these container SV public on the workshop. The 1U and 2U actually have LCD projectors in the forward cabin, but I really didn't feel like doing anything with the projector at this time, so it is just hiding there. Just making sure the vessels have the option for that improvement at a future date.
I thought it was in the blueprints already as Core Patron V. I have the version with no shield. This is one of my favourite ships. Also your build will not work in Survival, the 2 T2 RCS's will not allow the ship to even move. That is 25 million for the 2 and that puts it 15 million above the T4 cpu abilities. So to even use this in Survival it would need an overhaul.
