So im on the Pirates Yarr to retrive the recipe, and i found the recipe in a container down in the docks next to Paymaster Moebus. But the quest dont update it still think i dont have the recpie, and when trying to talk to Paymaster Moebus or Pirate Commander they just give me the "Have something to offer, talk to our trader else get out of here scumbag"

I went into console to increase my rep with the pirates, then i could talk to him and get the recipe but the quest did still not update.

I went to another quest and its a little bit after it but i suppose its still there if its activated again. Was looking now and it looks odd but anyways here it is. Next time ill try keep a save from the exact bugg moment.

 

The same thing happened to me. It turns out that if wireless is connected and the recipe goes to your ship, the quest doesn't update. As soon as I moved the recipe to my personal backpack, the quest updated.

 

Hmm, just also got a problem with the Paymaster ;-)

The thing is: he wants a platinum bar from me and I have 7 pieces into my inventory. So I think there is a bug in the mission design. It's not gettin clear what he really wants or that I have to search myselfe around for the recipe. And I have no active wireless connection at all.

I understand his answer to me that way that I have to get a platinum bar. When I asked him the first time I had indeed no one in my inventory but into a cargo box from my vessel. So I took it from there into my inventory and asked him again. But even got the same answer...
As I wrote above, the mission design is at least missunderstandeble. I didn't get the idea to look myselfe around till I read this thread...

 

I'm on this same quest, except most of the base is invincible, including the core. I can blow up sentry guns, but the two big laser turrets keep killing me while I'm trying to explore to find the recipe. I also cannot kill the commander as I've read that is one way to go about completing the mission (he is also invincible). This is a fresh new save that I started yesterday.

 

Just wondering if the people who are having issues with this started a new save game when the changes went out?

I did, and I was able to do this quest without any issues

...although I found the Paymaster first (the guy who actually has the recipie), and found out about the platinum bar before I actually spoke to the guy upstairs who told me to go downstairs... so there may need to be some logic there, to get you to speak to the guy upstairs first?

 

In the current state of the Quest you have to talk to the Commander and if you want to fight you need to threat him, then he gives you the Recipe and the reputation changes to hostile. If you want it peaceful you choose the other option and can pay a platinum Bar. If you start shooting without going through the Dialog the Quest maybe not solvable. Killing the Commander was an option in a previous version, he is invulnerable now.

 

Having remade two games, the only dialog either Paymaster Moebus or the Pirate Commander say is the "Have something to offer?"....etc.
My Pirate rep is Neutral at 170. Is there a trigger that I'm missing in order to threaten/question the commander?

 

Image 1 showing correct active PDA mission and step. Images 2 and 3 demonstrating no options for interaction with either character. Unfortunately, the PDA log disappears during dialogue so it's not apparent that the mission is active in latter 2 screenshots, but I hope the timestamps are a sufficient placeholder.

 

Unfortunately this is still an issue, at least with me.
Went to speak with Moebus and all that comes up is the default "Get out of here scumbag" reply.

Yep. Same here. Just did that one in fact on 1.1.3065. Mr Moebus thinks I'm rebel scum too. ;-)
