There are moments in life when all we need is to turn off the engines and just watch the marvelous things surrounding us.
Today I... Today we were having fun with the people: we created two huge class 55 ships, docked and tried to make a warp jump, etc. But we got a bunch of errors =))) and restarts. I made pylons for my aircraft carrier ... so I'm thinking what to put on them. Probably engines and turrets =) свет солнца или черной дыры
That looks like Lens Flare. It's basically to simulate the lens effect in movies, when the sun hits the lens. It looks like it hasn't been turned off in space. So you get a dark halo. As there is no sun in that image.
Um, that's understandable. The source is of great interest, since it has the same direction in any star system. I tried to determine the direction by highlighting individual stars on the map, and it's always "up" on the galaxy map. Unfortunately, the game is very lacking in normal navigation... This is a completely different direction, not towards a supermassive black hole, as I first thought.
Autosort is crap ; Use custom groups and name everything, almost cant get any more comfortable afterwards using it.
There is no right way for grouping and naming stuff. I used to take care to make sure all my blueprints had the devices grouped, but I have found myself getting lazier about it. You can probably tell which of my blueprints get more use in survival as opposed to creative, or have some signal work done. It was probably around alpha 7 that I started doing signal work and so it was around then that I started grouping my devices. So it was before logistics that I would start hitting 'P' and navigating to the storage, armor locker, or other such from time to time instead of always walking up to it. Having the devices in its default messy list discouraged this sort of behavior. But when everything is sorted, it was a lot easier to just scroll down the device list to find the group with the fridge then. Now we have logistics, so getting to the fridge remotely is even easier because you don't have to find it in a scrambled list of every light, thruster, fuel tank, and generator. Still, putting devices in groups and naming them can be helpful even now. I will vary how I name stuff when I take that extra step, but if you look in the background of the logistics view below then you can see the actual storage. In the drop down list, you can see that I named most of the containers based on their physical location, clues as you will to help me. In my survival game, I might rename some of the containers based on how I am using them. [edit] Note that the left K of the two "K" boxes is called mid. This is an acknowledgement that if I expand both the upper and lower containers where those truss blocks are that they can never meet in that middle row. So, if I replace all those truss blocks with storage, then there will need to be another cargo box between the container extensions. Grouping them has a couple other benefits for me, more than naming the cargo boxes. If you noticed, I didn't rename the fridge so that number is the default name for that particular device. In fact, most of the time I don't rename the devices once grouped. In the picture above, I have assigned the food processor to its own group not really so I can find it in the device tree, but so I can turn it on or off simply from the main page of the control panel by assigning the group to a custom power button. This also tells me at glance whether some of the subsystems are turned on or off. As you can see, for my Nightjar CV, I actually ran out of custom power buttons so I named a signal for the spotlights. The signal won't tell me if the spotlights are on or off, but the signal does still give me the ability to turn them on or off from this main page. The first signal on the list is actually to stop the automatic door into "engineering" from being automatic anymore. [edit] "Maneuver" is simply a habit from before thruster mechanics added yaw, pitch, and roll, back when RCS were more of a requirement. When you shut off thrusters, the RCS would be left on. So maneuver as a group was my way of powering on or off both the thrusters and RCS. Now the thrusters properly placed can turn many of my vessels adequately so this is more of a legacy habit. Only a handful of my blueprints still use any RCS. What isn't shown is that the group of interior lighting includes the motion sensor that is part of managing the interior lights. The boarding ramp is grouped with its corresponding motion sensor and light. Plus since the hangar door is shutter doors, I have them grouped with the ramps and motion sensor. These are all grouped together so when I am troubleshooting why the hangar door does not open or the ramps extend when I approach with my HV, I can simply go to the group for everything related to that signal issue and verify there that those devices are setup correctly. Now some things still crossover groups, for example the interior lighting actually triggers on three of those motion sensors, but only one motion sensor only serves for lighting and nothing else, so that one got tossed in the group with interior lights. I can find the other sensors easy enough because I try to name the signals according to their purpose or location in relation to said task. So when I check that custom 4-way "or" switch, the names of the input signals can help me find the other two sensors easy enough as most everything relevant should be sorted already.
The attack yesterday was cancelled as the defenders suddenly had no time to play. We hope we can do it someday next week. So as consolation here are some screenshots of the preparations and the Zirax Missle Base we raided instead:
I came home from a day up in Portland and booted up my computer, and saw this when I opened Steam: Looks like I might be overdoing Empyrion at the moment. And I hit eleventy-eleven hours. Guess I'll play some more Empyrion to celebrate.
You know what you don't expect to find in the center of a galaxy near a supermassive black hole? This is an oceanic planet with palm trees, beaches and warm seas.
Today i... Having fun in creative mod as always A bit of a spoiler about the ship's name =) It was originally supposed to be LIF Odin But in the process I changed my mind and LIF Odin will be the next ship Actually on the screen there is a small spoiler for the name =))) Who will guess?
