    Why? Being able to use a small SV for deconstruction or repair would be even handier in SP than in MP

    I think I disagree concerning SP.
    It's been some time since I was in this situation, but there were times when my CV was heavily damaged, repairable, but perhaps 1 or 2 jumps from home. Yes, I could put on my helmet and effect repairs, but I always liked the idea of a Star Trek style "Work Bee" SV to zip around making repairs. I also know that HVs can now perform such tasks. Still, I prefer the maneuverability of the SV for this as well as mining.
