Just back into the game and enjoying all the updates. However, I came across a couple of ships in one system, Infestors and Decimators. The Infestors I can deal with though they take quite a while but the Decimators are aptly named. That thing took away my shields in a few seconds and I bravely fled. Are these ships mainly multiplayer content or am I missing something? I was using a jrandall CV in singleplayer.
Which CV? Some of the new enemies have been augmented with a bit different AI, and from what I have heard there are some Legacy ships that are supposed to be pretty darn hard nuts to crack. Knowing if you are in the Wayfarer or the Raider may help.
Does it really have to do with the CV or the amount of turrets? Given it is not a small and unarmored one of course.
It has more to do with the fact that a combat built CV like a Skaar Raider getting its tail kicked by a decimator is a much different story than a 4 turret Wayfarer with a T1 shield.
I asked the question having in mind the fact that the player can install maximum allowed turrets on any CV.
I think I follow now... The number of turrets help, but it isn’t all that matters. More combat oriented CVs have secure secondary bridges, combat armor as opposed to steel, and their critical systems behind multiple layers of armor and buffers. So even a Wayfarer packed to the keel with turrets will suffer against a true combat CV with player directed weapons >as well as< turrets and specialized set up.
Nothing that is not controlled by another player is difficult to take down - nothing. You just need the correct setup to do so. IOW, most of the factory ships are not gona cut it. They look awesome and that is the point. Combat requires more as Chum pointed out.
Answer to question: Yes, there are LGC Infestors and Decimators in multiplayer, they were bugged for a long time (incorrectly working AI) but are flying around LGC buildings.
It takes me and another guy in a BB to usually take one out...so yes they are tough. Their core is in the center of those shiny rings on the side, if that helps.
I'm in the Overseer (Kriel). Really nice looking ship. I do like that some enemies are really tough but I've run out of ideas on the Decimator I'm also running the Project Eden Scenario. I don't think he buffed the legacy ships but perhaps I missed it in the notes.
In the workshop there are only a few blueprints with which you can go into battle and the blueprints of Jrandall and other master builders are not among them. The CV looks good, but that's it.
