Then you have a problem simply conciliating what the developers said about "classical development" and what you think you know about it. And you simply dismiss my numbers, you don't show yours. I urge you to try to make up some figures that make sense, and if they do I will consider them. Isn't that an honest reply ?

I gave the example of No Man Sky earlier. This alones shows you're wrong. And this whole paragraph is derived from a conclusion you draw in the previous one based on thin air.

And @Ambaire : if you really are serious about the "Stockholm syndrome", notice that "fanboys" have reasons to be here, but much less the ones who firmly believe the developers are a "lost case". So if these players have no reason to be here other than ranting why do they stay ? To whom the "Stockholm syndrome" applies here ?

These players are just avoiding to say they like the game like others, to avoid appearing to defend it.

Why would I make up numbers that no one anywhere on these forums (even most of the developers) have zero information on. I might as well try and tell you how to predict COVID transmission rates in specific circumstance.

The point was such numbers are not meaningful when all involved are utterly ignorant in a single detail surrounding them.

It is based on how business actually works.

More of the same "avoidance" does not prove the point. You say my numbers don't hold up ? Burden of proof is on you then.

Then go read the "going to v1.0 - some clarifications" OP again then tell me what you didn't understand.

Simple solution: If Empyrion is a miserable experience for you, then go do something else that isnt. You will be happier, the world will become a better place because your little ray of sunshine will grow brighter. Its all kinda cosmically beautiful man...

It is true. This is why i stopped playing it 1 week ago... Only the announcement brought me back. Wanted to check those fixes, i thought it was something relevant.

I gave myself 2 days on forums to read something informational, something insteresting. I didn't find what i was looking for. :) So ill be off for a while.

I know everybody likes that! :)

You can also stay and contribute differently? Many players here are not "playing" : they make content, work on tools, etc. Going full "Creative Mode frenzy" is not really "playing" either, but it can make for a change...

That's weird. Except for the ingame error messages that direct me to three solutions, one of them e-mail the team, I've never had a crash like that.

My system is not even the gamer standards:
    Ryzen 5 3600
    16 GBs DDR4 2666Mhz (recently 32MBs... woohoo!)
    GTX 1660 Super 6GBs video

I'm actually writing this as the game is running.

Well, Ill be happy you are off doing something you enjoy, but not necessarily that you left the game...Im pretty sure it could use fans who see its potential and continue to give constructive criticism as well as assist other new players navigate whats in store.

I know that if it werent for helpful people here and on teh steam forum then i wouldnt be having a third the fun I am now.

BTW Kassonnade...cheers on the "flight control" thing...

Like i mentioned before, im not that positive about this whole topic like you or other people. My mindset is higly analitycal im really good at finding bugs and diging into things. Maybe on A9 i was reportings some bugs which wasn't adressed ever since. So why bother?

My opinion only: Half of this forum is an illusion (the like system, the rank system, the structure) it is built to give ppl a playground... Be honest to your self: with this many ideas even Empyrion 3 shouldn't be a problem. Average ppl won't see behind the scenes which may cause disturbance. When they don't know, they get angry...
I would like to know if the devs read all this stuff, or read only when they need new ideas.

So to summarize this, i dont have the will to contribute, despite the fact that i like this game. Time is money! And i think i gave already too much time (testing bugs, stress testing windows, collecting evidence etcetc) to this company for free.

If you feel like it contribute, i hope someway it will be recognized and rewarded.

I know my contribution was taken into account on many aspects, but I was not alone pushing behind things.

You're absolutely right that this is a "playground" as much (if not more) than the game. People need to be told they're "cool" and "imaginative", they don't like criticism, and the "likes" rule. On the other hand, it's a very easy game to play. Newcomers open threads on a daily basis to make their suggestion that has been made 100 times before, they don't read other people's stuff, they don't see the "whole game" resulting from a myriad of disparate features and objects tacked together (more blocks...), etc. They ask for performance and at the same time for performance-killing features, act and respond with entitlement, get off-topic, lose focus... many times they leave and don't come back...

So try to picture what can be of real interest for the developers here. Do they have time to read everything ? I don't think so, maybe not even half of it. They direct players to official, "stickied" threads to be sure they will read about it, but players prefer the new thread that gets more attention from other players than from developers. Their choice.

The developers seem to be attracted (obviously) by hot topics that grow and update rapidly so maintaining heated arguments can have this positive aspect of drawing their attention on sensible issues. They also react to precise numbers and code snippets, and to whoever seems to be able to "speak their language" (they are developers, not "fanboys). So a feature can be presented in a "player" way and they don't feel it. If the same feature is presented from a "developer" perspective (look at performance gains !!) they may be more inclined to consider it.

And then you have the "more blocks shapes" type of response everyone sees, where suddenly performance and balance are not pivotal anymore. But that's their "bread and butter" because they know players will say "these developers are very responsive and they DO listen to us". Symptomatic of wanting to please everyone, with the inherent risk of ending up with a mess.

So yes, it can become confusing at some point, even "infuriating" for some who did not yet see all these aspects. But in the end, I want "my" game too ! So I just navigate in here with that in mind. I don't expect "recognition" because I am most happy when things get done in a consequent manner, and not just part of an eternal buff-nerf cycle on weapons and food.

"to give constructive criticism" You can't give constructive criticism because people reject criticism. And to be honest an avreage player like myself knows nothing about the way of the devs. If you lack of information, you may draw bad conclusions.

Just look all this announcement thing all together. The complains, concerns everyone here is scared a little bit... "Omg what will happen if the new players don't like the game" In my opinion this roots in the lack of good communication of the devs. Despite the fact that they tried to clear up the things, it is not enough. We have got a promise of v1.1 (or whatever) which noone know what will be about.. Fixes? polish? rebalance? ---> this draws me to a conclusion with others that i was rushed. Many many systems in the game were rushed, this is my experience.
And noone knows why? Code? Unity? only the devs know.

So you may give constructive criticism, but does it count? Or it will be buried under the next 100-300 posts? Will there be ears to listen?

I can agree with you on this manner, noone ever told here it is easy. It is hard to please everyone, this is why you need to plan your actions and distribute work in all the fields. No just one.
I know bug fixing was always a tricky topic, because the changes could have erase those while work in progress.

i think during this development period the devs should have work out strict schedules about what to work on (and they may did, just did not share). The average user wont know the struggle what it means to write a program. (especially this complex) despite the fact that they got the engine ready and running. There is a learning curve which we saw in the A4-7. I'm still not satisfied with the communicaon we get.

i do hope someday this game will get in its final state! I'll be there waiting and watching.

@Ambaire : you are forgiven (if applicable), from my part. This is a cool move. These things are important.

@Beasthammer : I know many players are impressed by the number of lines/ items in the release notes in updates posts (wow! look at all these things they did!). And some patches come out with very few, and players don't feel the work behind. But truth is that a patch may show only very few items, but each of these required to tweak a value, compile the game, try, tweak again, compile and rince and repeat. These can also be complex function calls that have many outcomes when just changing one digit or condition, they could be normal code behaving abnormally for no apparent reason, etc. So few lines to "show off" in the patch notes, but hard work for the poor guy in charge (not a modeler or the guy making the scenarios).

I remember the first iteration of the "dock SV=HV". It was available on one day, the next day they removed it. When asked about this, Taelyn told us that the guy working on this just didn't want to hear about it anymore like he would throw his PC through the window. Some players asked to give him the message that it was OK, we understand, and just take a break and try again on a fresh mind, we will wait as long as necessary.

And now it works -not perfect, but it does the job without breaking everything like it did then. These guys are human, too. ;)

Well, on this we will just disagree. I think the devs have done a pretty stellar job of posting lengthy and detailed posts about what is happening and what they intend to keep doing. And as we mentioned, the number of devs working on this whole thing cant even field a pick-up baseball team. So, while I think it would be awesome if they were sitting here answering every single post, I assume they are probably writing code, fixing bugs, watching playlogs, and doing all that stuff we are here complaining that that arent doing.

As far as threads like this, yes, I have a pretty good idea the devs are probably watching, or at least scanning through them. But again, small team. The last thing they need is Greg the coding guy getting stuck in a flame war with someone.

Ten Commandments of Argument** there i fixed it. it is true. For me Logic is a little bit something else.

Since my english grammar is pretty bad, i need to quot:
"§1. Logic is not the psychology of reasoning
One thing you should note about this definition is that logic is concerned with the principles of correct reasoning. Studying the correct principles of reasoning is not the same as studying the psychology of reasoning. Logic is the former discipline, and it tells us how we ought to reason if we want to reason correctly. Whether people actually follow these rules of correct reasoning is an empirical matter, something that is not the concern of logic.

The psychology of reasoning, on the other hand, is an empirical science. It tells us about the actual reasoning habits of people, including their mistakes. A psychologist studying reasoning might be interested in how people's ability to reason varies with age. But such empirical facts are of no concern to the logician."
