I will NEVER forget my first night with 5.5... So simple, so... naked ? Hem... so... easy ? Ok. Not the best analogy.
But she got fatter with passing years, hiding herself under tons of make-up features... she's fussy, complicated, yet sophisticated and at the same time a bit pitiful walking on a broken high-heel shoe... Oh! She can make it up with lots more conversation now!
Don't worry, it's over now. I had my lesson when she left me for this guy, Peter Von Puke... She changed a lot to please him, I harldy recognize her now, and I'm not sure I will ever forgive that. I think I'll go down a few cold ones at the Steam Pub now with the buddies, for good'ol times sake. They have this special this week : for 1 negative review you get 5 thumbs up, no extra charge. Heck, you don't even have to write anything !
I was listening to the Soundtrack, in particular the 2nd track "Distant Worlds". It reminded me of a thought that I may or may not have brought up before. At some point in the development of this game, I would like to see a more cinematic opening sequence rather than just a capsule falling to the planet. Show the MS Titan in transit, experience what ever calamity happens, showing people rushing to escape pods, show the ship breaking into 3 sections and falling to the planet while our escape pod goes on to its eventual crash. Or something like that. Just to have some kind of preamble at the start.
I missed all that stuff about contracts, betrayal, refunds and so forth. I don't know. I've got 4-1/2 years, 6300+ hrs in this game. I am frequently frustrated and occasionally disappointed with how this game develops. Case in point: CROSS-HAIRS!! I have made suggestions. I have made complaints. I have pointed out that the game may be approaching a level of complexity that might make the game unplayable for me. For the record, I will continue to play until I can't understand it. But I have never felt betrayed or misused by Eleon or that I did not get my money's worth. There are a couple of instances where I think they actually made good some of my suggestions although I have no way to verify that. It's true that I will never get involved with Early Access again. However, I have no regrets for my involvement here. I have had more fun than I could have imagined. Thru the Community, I have become acquainted with many fellow players that I think of as friends. They have been most helpful in aiding me to understand some of the trickier parts of the game. Thank you all. I don't why others play this game. I liked the look of it. I liked the initial challenge of Survival. Later I liked expressing myself in Creative. I didn't care to involve myself with MP. It was 6 months before I joined the Community. This game may never be exactly what I want it to be, but it's been a helluva lot of fun. JMO.
Perverse curiosity got the better of me and I took this screenshot: There are several things that didn't seem quite right. 1. The lid is down. This would be okay if the WC didn't flush as soon as the player sat down. 2. Well, maybe there's a trap door in the armor? 3. The fact that the player's feet don't touch the floor threw me at first. Then I remembered that players are only about 4'-6" tall. As a Plumbing Engineer, I also determined that this must be an ADA approved WC with a rim height of approx. 18". Perhaps a standard 14" high commode would be better.
We could have the first part of the tutorial inside a stationary ship, something like the new recruit's basic training, one room after another, all non-terrain related tasks that can be learned in a POI : moving, jetpacking, using containers and inventory, cooking, eating, crafting, using medication after being submitted to hazards, etc. This could take a while, and cover lots of things currently going too quickly and superficially in the actual tutorial, among dangers and distractions. When the player has completed the tutorial, have this "ship attack" sequence (with a short movie ?), then direct the player through the ship all the way to a pod. Then start game normally with the pod descent, and complete tutorial with the few "terrain survival" tips that require being on a planet, the player having already acquired most of his knowledge up there in a safe and controlled environment.
@ASTIC you are promoting your stuff like those annoying Google Adds "popping up" everywhere. Even in Parts of the Form where they don't belong...I am sure I stated that on more than one occasions already.
