Hi Everyone, Sorry but I can't find an answer to this. When we first started playing in exp12 I was sure that CV's would dock to bases and other CV's. But somewhere along the way they all stopped docking, both to bases and to other CV's. Is there a setting for this, or is it coded, and if so any idea why? Also, I have another weird behaviour when we have a space base near a planet, the CV's float away if the power is left on and thrusters turned off. I can stop it floating away by putting it under the base so it floats into it, but then gets stuck under the base. Bit of a drastic approach to just stop my plants dying.... Cheers all Wolf
I think it was a lot longer ago than Exp12 when CV's could actually dock. This was changed for... reasons. Some of which have to do with the changes to allow anything to dock to anything (except CV's to bases), and part of it has to do with how different constructs are childed. It's something I'm sure could be rewitten into a structure like BA -> CV <-> SV <->HV so that Anything can dock with a Base, SV's and HV's can dock with CV's and other SV's/HV's as well as CV's, and CV's can still dock with each other, though I imagine that's a good bit of work that is lower on the priority scale at present.
Thanks IndigoWyrd, It couldn't have been too much longer ago, I only started playing when e12 came out I think the server we setup might have originally been 11, but I thought it worked on 12, I could be wrong. Cheers
No problem - I don't recall if it worked in A11 either.. I swear it's been "broken" for quite some time, maybe as far back as A9? I just know it's been a long time since my CV's went "cluck" and stuck to anything. Kind of defeats the purpose of putting landing gear on them, but I keep doing it anyways - and just Indigo is fine
It'd be great to be able to dock CVs to BAs. I'd love to build great spaceport towers on planets with docking pylons you just fly your ship next to and perch on. I'd make flat docking ports with flush doors so CVs can line up and grab hold with a landing gear, just like SVs and HVs can. Pressurized embarkation all around! No need for a spacewalk or shuttle! You can sort of do this now in space, but the CV still technically hangs free.
