I have a CV I made in creative mode. Well, I actually yanked one from the workshop and built from that. (I'm not good at shaping) But that's not the point.

It requires some 30k titanium rods!

What blocks should I be looking at as the culprit of this? Since it was a ship built in alpha 5 that I updated I'm not sure if recipes have changed since then or what, and maybe something is buried deep down in the middle of it that I missed...a lot of somethings! But I know I don't want to dump all that titanium into the ship in my survival game.

The most obvious culprit behind the use of this amount of titanium is the hardened steel blocks used in the hull of the ship. Unfortunately, now in the game there is no easy way to change all ship blocks at once from one block type to another. The easiest way to reduce the amount of titanium is to downgrade the entire cladding to regular steel blocks using multitool. And already in the survival game, after building the ship, return the most vulnerable parts of the skin to a normal armored form.

P.S. I recommend looking at the workshop for the ships authored by jrandall. Perhaps you will like them more in terms of design and resources used.

Ok well I do know how to do the replace all blocks thing in creative, so I'll start with replacing the hardened steel for regular and then update the soft underbelly to hardened or combat probably after it's spawned into the survival game. THANKS!

And I know jrandall's builds, they're great. However this one is a star wars themed ship so i have other reasons for using it :D

Once I'm done with it I'll probably upload it to the workshop myself because the shape is so awesome but it was just an art piece mainly, and built with so many components that just don't exist anymore as well as being a CPU nightmare. Other than this titanium issue it's pretty much ready to go for version 1.0 now, a T4 ship with weapons and a hangar where previously it was just a giant lego model of the ship.

Use prefabinfo -full to get the block names to replace, then just remove "Armored" from the type. Goes much faster

I typically find that what goes faster is what you know how to do.

And I only barely know how to do the replace all blocks thing.

I'll have to look up a better tutorial that explains the command you're referencing there...

30k Titanium Rods is quite the sum, but it can be collected on the starter planet alone (maybe including the moon) by taking apart every structure with the Multitool (use T2...) that is made of "Hardened Steel". This will get you titanium plates which the factory will take 2:1 for Titanium Rods (I think it was 2:1) "Combat Steel" on the other hand will get you Sathium plates which are not useful in this case.

For more efficiency, put a core in the POI and "disassemble" it into blocks as the "take apart" option will only return you around 60% of the materials. The factory will accept whole blocks, too.

I only wish half my builds use half as much Titanium. 4 out of 5 use 70-90k titanium, or about two asteroids full lol
It's not that hard to come by, and yes, disassembling POI's is a great way to fill the old factory - and it brings down construction times too.
