Hi, I think title says everthing... if we land on a Planet, or in a Hangar, our ship should take Oxygen from the Atmosphere around the ship if it is breathable. maybe it should need a ventilator on the outside of the hull to do this
I think having some system that collects O2 while in system would be a nice addition. I havent had a problem with having to fill tanks because the ship is pressurized, both ways, to keep air in and void or perhaps poisonous atmosphere out. I havent tested it, or have no idea if its even a thing, but I could see a small SV with just a pressurized cockpit perhaps sustaining a pilot for a short period of time if o2 ran out, but a larger capital ship should be able to keep one person alive, even with no additional oxygen, for a decent time.
Agree that some for of vessel mounted harvesting/scoop system(s) for water, O2 from athmospheres/oceans would be a good mechanism.
I did a small test with regards to a post. It might be interesting for you. https://empyriononline.com/threads/airtight-in-12-3.95260/#post-413114
All it would take is a block using the same kind of scripted function the Emergency O2 Generator uses. Based on atmospheric O2 percentage, it could accumulate tanks over time, drawing from the base or vessel's power. Since it's scripted, it's probably something the devs would need to do, unless the old O2 Generator function could be adapted to a block. It's still in there, Vermillion has the terrain-placeable restored in Reforged.
An "Oxygen Harvester" device should be a fairly simple addition. There are a couple very good looking "Intake" decoration objects already that could be given this function. Give it the same CPU and Power costs as a Ventilator, and let it draw in Oxygen to Oxygen Tanks equal to 1 large Oxygen Container every 30 seconds. When in environments without Oxygen, the device shuts itself off. On this same token a mobile "Water Harvester" device would also be a great addition - place it on a vehicle, add an Ore/Wood(/Water) Container Controller, and dip it in the water somewhere, and it will start drawing in Water, just like the placeable Water Collector. Take it out of the water, and it shuts itself off.
