Couple questions on the Dark Rogue start. Are you supposed to be able to talk to the trader in the cell at the beginning and the 2 traders outside the crashed transport? I cannot trigger a dialog with them (Reforged Eden). Is the temperature supposed to be static?
No you can't speak with the traders but now I could give them dialog if I wanted. What do you mean about the temperature?
It doesn't change, ever. It's -47 for about 2km around the crash, with no warm spots. With hard settings, you have about 180 seconds after leaving the hanger in medium armor with thermal insulation, 3 hot drinks, and 15 or so bandages, before the frostbite/starvation kills you; it takes 144 seconds to build a thermal regulator, so you have roughly 35 seconds to find an iron rock and hide (or clear the area) without taking more damage (which would shorten the time you buy by perpetual bandaging to fight frostbite/starvation damage).
It will depend slightly on seed. Some seeds might have a different temperature. But yes it's very difficult if you're playing on the "hard" preset.
Trick : there's a warm hidden spot (and a bit protected from the dogs) on your right when you first go outside. It will still be hard to start ;-)
I found a hidden spot on the right, but it is not warm. I only found one seemingly anomalous warm spot by using god mode, at the back of the ship near another hidden spot. I think it must be the fire there radiating heat (there are no generators or engines), were the other fires do not. If you dig into the fire spots to uncover the cauldron thing, it does start giving off heat directly above it... but that is silly, it's supposed to be burning wreckage, not a literal buried cauldron of fire. Maybe it's supposed to be giving off heat and it's just slightly too far underground? It would make more sense just to put one of the cauldrons above ground where the 2 survivors are like they are standing around it... unless they have EVA suits.
Dark Rogue start (just tested hard): Almost the best find is an EVA boost, or 2 temperature boosts (think you find at least one). There are several spots around the starter POI that have an indoor temperature. A couple of spots are actually hot, the double of indoor. Radiation is also a danger, actually only 1 large block is enough to shield you, blocks you can be "inside" in (slopes and walls). Are spots that shields against cold and rad. Finding iron ore rock is main goal, to get survival constructor. Then can just mine rocks and get starter ores. Use the drone to scout and mine (and loot). Do quick scouting runs until have a heater (if temp is an issue), just 30 rocks (if got only 3 for the constructor). Try save as much healing and meds you can before going out the last door. Can put stuff in BP Factory, like light suits and weapons, for later when allowed to spawn. Eat and use stuff so can free inventory space before go out. Use one of the flat cargo containers by the traders outside. Forget try to become Neutral with Zirax.
With what? I only found the 1 insulation boost, so at random you may get the boosts needed to avoid cold I suppose. I went an checked the exterior slanted blocks and found they do work as you indicate, but that is a block exploit where the game is treating you as inside the structure. The hotspot I found earlier is double indoor, the same as standing on an uncovered fire pit, so I suspect its the nearby fire pit managing to project it's heat to that spot through some block voodoo.
Go to the left when outside, past the traders, the first angled beam, go around and jump up. Both indoor and rad safe, it is a game mechanics (for now). Keep playing after dying can be seen as a much bigger exploit.
I've been playing the 7dtd update recently but watching Spanj's video yesterday and having a free weekend I'm hitting Eden hard. (and the IPA)
Hi, I just noticed that the S-Class "Cargo Box 1" variant says it has a volume of 500 SU - which I believe is a modified (i.e PE) value. However, in fact it has just 250. I was please to see it saying as 500 - a much more realistic figure considering it's size - but I guess just the tooltip has been updated at this stage. Scoob.
Oh ok, I thought you'd started tweaking the odd value here and there. Not to the same degree as Reforged of course, but still the odd tweak. I've not actually played for a while, so doubtless I'm just forgetting things. Scoob.
Next update is adding new scenario specific items, but not tweaking any existing default ones. I want to keep it compatible with config mods like Reforged Galaxy.
Did a Jungle start now. When close to a POI, the console have error messages like: Too many decos set for protoidx=7 : cnt=4262, allowed=2500 Very difficult to find POIs, since the scanner do not show them. Have to be very close to see them on the radar, close up for them to activate "found".
