    There are good reasons for doing it that way, but a 10x10x10 cargobox is going to have it's own integrated armor and security system.

    & by 'Security System', ya mean let them have access to the Cargo & use it as bait to trick them into your Guns? Ya still likely to take Inventory Casualties this way. :p

    Not really, access hatches would face towards the ship when attached, and this system allows transport of cargo while making it so that the freighter doesn't need to access the cargo to do the job.

    Went to war again today, and took down the Blue Team's facilities on Akua. Battle went from night to the middle of the day.

    Vids like these are Epic, especially for people like me that wishes he could be in on the action. Many thanks so much for taking the time & effort in making them! Also looking forward to eventually getting to see the Battle from piddlefoot's point of view. :)

    As for me, i've begun Colonizing Aestus! I found a good looking Slime Patch (I know what you're thinking, 'Slime' & 'good lookin' is an Oxymoron... but ya'd think that Slime was good lookin too if ya were on a Lava Planet & that Slime was your only source of renewable water. :p) & have begun my Base Build. Sadly I can't really think of anyway of describing my building this place in a way that could sound as epic as a Verbal Let's Play, & it's not been for a lack of tryin. The only notable events thus far is 2 single Drones comin right at me, & me seein them comin plenty in time & teachin them both how to respect the wrong end of a Minigun... a lesson neither survived to actually put to use in the future. Eventually I ran outta my full 999 Stack of Square Hull Blocks & was gettin low on Salami, & that's sayin somethin cause I CAME to Aestus with a FULL SV Fridge of the stuff plus one on my Hotbar Slot 9. I've returned to Akua to restock on Square Hull Blocks & food, & in the process got low on Iron & had to go to a big Iron Vein I had worked on before & finish it off.

    Also amusingly despite the fact that I haven't emptied ANY Ore Veins on Aestus yet, I got a Meteor Drop on Aestus that I can only assume woulda been Silicon if I had bothered to check on it, but I didn't cause i'm a LiftPizzas Let's Play watcher so I already know about the Meteors being a bit buggy... though it was a new one on me that they could be buggy without Hurley around. :p (She seems like a cool person... it's a shame she doesn't tread these Forums.) Anyway, it makes me wonder... if I emptied all Veins on Akua, would this make ALL common Ore Types, including Iron, drop on Aestus too so I wouldn't have to traipse to Akua for my Basic Ore needs...?

    since the alpha announcement the server has been quiet, and reaper and i have taken to just blowing stuff up....

    .... this lead to me taking the Nomad on a raid, and in the last few minutes, one of the fore artillery canons fired, and happened to hit my own fuel tank...
    ... luckily the configuration i had them in kept damage to a minimum, but that being said, she has a huge hole in the side of it....

    .... among other places.

    this lead to me spending more time in creative designing a more combat oriented and heavier armored CV, while still being capable of planetary landings.
    shes not done yet, but i got her to the point of being flight capable, then spawned it into the server.... after HOURS of mining & waiting.

    once shes done ill throw up some screens.

    as of now its dead quiet, but were still looking for players to join after Alpha release.

    I forsee a cycle of birth and merger for many current and future servers, as communities interested in constantly populated multiplayer servers combine to effect that end more readily. It also makes handling server costs more managable. Of course, there will always be small private servers, but I also forsee a "Private" tag that makes them invisible in the server browser without a previous invite to view it.

    pretty much waiting to see what alpha brings, but youre right, i can foresee alot of the smaller private servers merging in, especially those that have the lower end PCs that wont be able to run a server properly.

    not to mention once the devs make an announcement as far as server funding, communities can easily be built up.
    i have no problem building out a better tower for a server for Co-Op Survival.
    its funding it that would be the issue.

    Side Note:
    the CV to replace the Nomad has been spawned in and has had most the interior built out and defenses placed. fuel room is 2 blocks thick + armor plating all inside the room + tanks are encased in it as much as i can.

    think i like this more combat oriented design over the smaller and thinner hull Nomad.
    She still needs some work and a few Plasma and Minigun Turrets probably wouldnt hurt either.

    Definitely agree with you there on the first point. It's interesting though, the dev's aren't terribly enthused about the idea of large multiplayer, as they intended this to be mostly a singleplayer experience. While I understand this desire, it is really terribly misplaced as far as game type goes. Block building games just have something that lend themselves to multiplayer.

    Edit: You know, I'm thinking of starting an association of large population empyrion server owners to better discuss these matters.

    i would say its not just limited to Voxel builders, its builders in general where you can interact with a community/friends.
    something about accomplishing a mining run and a large scale build with your mates appeases alot of people, myself, and my players included.

    ive said it once, ill say it a million times:
    Empyrion is my "get away" game, ill pick it up, play it for weeks on end, then put it down for a bit (though the frequency of that happening has lessened over the months as i find myself waiting for alpha while playing the crap out of my server).
    ill play the heck out of AAA games, review them, help my bud make some content on it as many times as he needs, but once the dust settles, where do i end up?
    Right back here, because the sense of accomplishment, the drive, the fun, and the player interactions i get, i frankly really dont see anywhere else in the gaming world. (for the most part, there are a few AAA communities that are pretty tight knit)

    would i like to see other elements from other games i play implemented here? sure.
    basic cover mechanics from other shooters (NOT contextual lean FFS), basic automation, more building options, different visual styles of building components (imagine all your components have an alien look, or have just a total different look in general), streamlined inventory management, better survival mechanics (I.e. Eating, the more expensive the recipe, the longer it should be before you have to eat again) among other things that can only add to the experience to name a few.

    when i can talk to a AAA FPS game developer, about playing this, and after laying this game out A-Z for him get told:
    "holy sh** this games got alot of potential, why in the hell arent WE making things like this???"
    THAT should mean Eleon is onto something, something AAA publishers are scared to allow AAA devs to do: Truly innovate.

    well if i can manage to get all the Co-Op survivalists together on a server, ill be happy to join that crew ;)
    HOPEFULLY things like difficulty and other server options are more easily managed as opposed to direct script editing like it is current (yea... i know how to do it for the most part... but it gives me a headache. Dammit Jim, im a 3dModel Designer and a Youtuber, not an Engineer! XD)
    plan on adding a few planets, and amping up the difficulty some as far as drones/NPCs go.... like to the point where you NEED a buddy at all times to watch your back.

    Agreed. This game should totally have a buff SP experience, but failing to explore & develop its MP potential would be a HELL of a Negated Moment of Awesome, especially when we're dealing with an ENTIRE GALAXY here! What is a Single Player gonna do with an entire Galaxy & why would an entire Galaxy for MP for many Players not be desired by the Devs?

    Also it's also seriously stupid how many so called 'advanced recipes' have stupidly less total amount of Food Power then the sum of the Recipe's parts... a big part of the reason I just Spam Salami FTW.

    E. Rations.... they are now our mass produced food supply, and no one eats till the bar is RED.
    that being said, i should not have to eat for twice as long given how much is needed to make the ruddy things...
    .... though i can see how that would be exploited early on in the game when youre given the 4(?) to start with.

    starting player wouldnt have to eat for up to a weeks game time with that in place....
    actually...
    why am i saying this could be an exploit?
    thats actually a GOOD thing for starting players... dammit... need more coffee lol

    Good item balance is nonexistent at this point, the devs have not given any time to that sort of balancing yet, those items merely have "sane" default values, where "sane" means "doesn't cause the code to choke".

    Well to be fair, if E Rations were changed as per your idea, they could theoretically reduce the Escape Pod's E Rations amount to 2 to compensate. ;)

    Well, E Rations being the "Ultimate" food is kind of silly, I think they should refill 50% of the food bar, with much lower production requirements, but remember the big deal about E-rations is that they are the only food that does not spoil ever absent refrigeration.

    when its the full on MEALS like the Dino Stew, Veggie Stew etc that dont even get close... THOSE should have the highest "staving" power.
    canned foods should last twice as long.... they ARE canned after all.
    E. Rations, im torn on.... they are supposed to be used for emergencies where you dont have other food at the ready (or cant get food at the ready) but the sheer amount they replenish compared to others....

    if you think about it... X3 Canned Vegs gets the same, thats 3 Dorians, 3 Tomatoes, 3 Pumpkins, 3 bottles of water and plates
    vs 1 E.Ration @ 1 bread, 3 hams, 3 dorians, 3 pears, 1 eng pill (and i think im missing something here). you get the SAME food value out of... but have to eat again after around the same amount of time... hence why im torn on them

    this is true lol.

    at any rate, i feel ive de-railed this thread enough :)

    Well I am almost finished my next themed CVs hull, the K-9. I will post a pic or two when the hull is done but I will not be sharing it until alpha as it looks like a complete freaking joke only half painted as none of the new blocks will be paintable until alpha, patience is no virtue of mine but alas nothing I can do so it will be shelved until the paint job can be completed once everything else is finished on it. So far pretty happy with the outcome of the hull, far more trial and error than expected on this one as I figured the shape of the hull would make it much faster, I was very wrong, tying in all the angles has been a challenge to say the least, but again so far I am quite happy with how he looks. He is an extremely lightweight (ie very plastic heavy,) dogfighting CV modelled after his namesake K-9 from the Dr Who TV series. Basically this CV functions as a galactic watchdog, capable of dogfighting on its own, and capable of carrying half a dozen SV dogfighters for help.

    If anything I think E rations should be left as they are and some of the other foods should receive a buff. Like the full meals you can cook, Dino Stew, Sandwiches and Ratatouille are my staples in the game.
