I need help

I don't understand why I can't travel across the galaxies. I play an old save file. What can I do to allow myself travel across the other systems? I tried to use commands when I typed a planet in another galaxy it just crasahed.

 

That looks to be a very old save, you don't seem to have a galaxy otherwise the galactic map icon would be highlighted (second button/icon from the right on the top).

Exactly how old is it?

 

I started somewhere in may or june 2020. I made a save ever since. Sometimes I had to compress because it wasn't possible to play. To make matters even more strange, several objects became immortal and when I try to get to the other galaxy it writes that maximum AU CV is capable is 50 AU. I was able to use cheats in order to spawn to another galaxy and it worked. It must have crashed when I was piloting the CV when I used the cheats because when I used them in space it worked.

 

That's around the time alpha 12 was released. Might be you started it just before alpha 12? In which case there was a huge update that changed the galactic map, they said at the time the best thing to do was to restart. Not saying this is the cause, but might be a possibility if you did indeed start your game in Alpha 11.

 

Maybe, but if this is true then there is no other way to continue the game without the galaxy button being disabled?

 

Honestly wouldn't like to say, I can't remember everything that was said back then. I think though that the sector and teleport commands work differently now with the new galactic map, so that could be why the commands you used didn't work. All I can say is what I suspect I'm afraid

 

The most pressing matter is ... if your game is really from before A12 and you started or tried to use it with A12...
The way how Data is handled has been totally changed with A12. Now there is a Data-Base which did not exist that way before A12.
Still, I remember the good tempered advises of many, Players and Mods, to start a fresh game. Mainly because the Data-Base rewrites all previous saves and lead to errors.

A easy way to find out with what version your game was started to look into the log files.

Any way, I think it would be the wiser choice to start fresh.

This explains why [Lgc] signs were no longer in the game and why some objects became immortal.

 

A12 was a mandatory wipe.

I suggest waiting a week or two because 1.4 is coming out soon. Then start a new game.
