@me777 : don't worry, the topic is precisely to try to get a server (not the base game) where players have no choice but to build in game and blueprints forbidden.

There is not a way to filter out blueprint enabled servers so a community of people that don't like this it's harder for it to form. By adding this option it would be clearer that some people don't like this and it would be easier for us to find in servers.

A good compromise would be that once you have built a ship, you can generate a blueprint and "clone it". But at least it would be "proof of work" that you haven't cheated in creative mode then spawned it by farming a bunch of materials on shitty place holders. It would also scale down the game and keep ridiculously big and detailed stuff out because it's not worth it thus helping with lag and so on.

The point is to add a way to easily filter out blueprint-enabled servers on the server browser so organically a community of people that feel that blueprints are a scam will be formed and separate from blueprinters. But not even this wants to be added apparently.

Also if it was forced on everyone it would be debatable if 90% of players would leave. I have download a bunch of stuff myself to learn on creative but that doesn't mean I spawn them on survival.

Its on our list to enhance the Server Browser. Its lacking several options yes to find a good server that fits your needs.

This will not be done for v1.5 as our agenda is very full on other topics. Possible v1.6 or v1.7

I'm not interested in forcing anyone to play that way, but if I ran a server it would be a server for people who do like playing that way.

7 Days to Die has tons of different POIs and you don't run on these problems. Redesign POIs if some create these situations of becoming trapped or at least filter out problematic POIs in MP. POIs in MP should be decentralized places that can be accessed at any time by 1 or more people. Have you played 7DTD? it's the same approach but in a futuristic setting.

Ideally what I envision is servers like 2b2t in Minecraft where it's complete anarchy and the server has literally never been reseted in years. Minecraft has a clever way to be compatible with older versions by updating newer chunks with the settings of the new versions so you never need to wipe the server. This gives an incentive for people to travel further from spawn point in order to access new stuff that would only spawn on unexplored chunks. I think with current modern hardware this is becoming doable. 10 years ago I would have said you can't procedually generate these worlds but with current high end computers it's not impossible to run such servers.

I wish they would make the Solar System Generator able to populate any region of the galaxy in a simple manner, so we can inject a new playfield in a running game at any time. We do have a finite number of playfield templates, but we can use as many fixed playfields as we want, and these are the solution to the problem that too many playfields generated from the same limited set of templates tend to look similar.

    But that's off-topic regarding blueprints...

There's no limit to the number of playfield templates and newly generated star systems will use updated playfields and solar system generation.
So just like in Minecraft, anything old won't be updated but anything not yet generated will be.

I count 70 in the Templates folder (with several being the same with different deco). Where are the others ?

I have something like almost 300 in my scenario. There's no limit as far as I know, you just have to make them.

I would pay for a proper hardcore PvPvE. Im bored of the blueprint spawnfest. I hope the next updates get things better for those of us that want to play proper survival.

There are the base templates, but playfields are generated randomly as they are discovered. Our server has over 20,000 playfields, but only a bit over 2,000 have been discovered and generated.

I'm talking about Templates, you're talking about playfields. We can't make new templates ourselves.

I know you know the difference between "Template" and "Playfield", and you just want to make me look ignorant. Not the first time you do this, hey, almost every instance where you take of your precious time to quote/ answer me is to throw me that kind of thing. Don't start wondering why I can be snappy with you buddy.

I already wrote that we can make playfields ourselves, but we can't make templates. Here, right before your own post:

Your goal here is not to add up to this conversation, I already wrote that we can make playfields ourselves. Now you can start nitpicking about "fixed playfields" but you know the reason too why I mention this type precisely.

No, I really don't want to make you look ignorant, and I apologize if I come across that way. But I have been using custom playfield templates since Alpha 8 when they were first introduced.
I don't know if we're just calling them different names. I call the playfields under the scenario "playfield templates", to distinguish them apart from the playfields that are generated and placed in the save game folder.
If a scenario is updated with new playfield templates or new solar system configs, then newly visited star systems will use the new playfields.

If you're talking about adding new, fixed planets to an existing save game then no, that is not possible without corrupting the database.
If you're talking about adding new planet types and variations to the random generation and having them show up in an existing game when visiting a new solar system, that can be done.

I did that too. I was not happy when they reverted to all random/ procedural, we could "draw" an entire playfield at that time and it was perfect.

All the templates in the default "Playfields" folder are variations of the same set of playfield types ( space, space orbit, Alien, snow, barren, dry, hot, temperate, gas types ) which all use the same set of stamps and parameters.

I already wrote what I wanted in my previous post, and I know it's not possible.

I'm not sure what you think is not possible. You can't add custom terrain stamps, or terrain deco such as custom trees or weather, but you can control almost all other aspects of the playfield templates and their parameters, and they don't have to be based on an existing planet type either.
You can make everything from a perfectly flat metallic sphere of a planet, to a small moon with spikes poking everywhere, and anything in between.

That is why I am so confused by your statements. What are you trying to do that you think can't be done? I've added many new planet types, with vastly different generation parameters. You can even make custom planets that generate as a gas giant, if you so wish.

You can add new randomized playfields to an existing save via random generation in unvisited star systems. Doing so can create more variety in the types of planets you encounter. Add more base templates for the game to draw from, and you add more possible variations to find.

You cannot add new fixed playfields to an existing save. That requires a new save game.

    (it is possible)
