:)Add the ability to install solar panels (furnace and deconstructor) on ships.

It is very sad that solar panels are only installed on the base :(.

    Same
Furnace and deconstructor cannot be installed on a ship.:(

Why do you need solar panels on ships?

So that you can use the ship as a base, and not run after the promethium.
I put it on and forgot about it. Then he flew in and everything works.
And so I need to put 1,000,000,000 tanks on the ship. And it turns out to be some awful big creature.
And also run a lot of time to look for promethium in order to refuel these tanks.
Ore mining is the most tedious and time-consuming job of all.

And if really, then solar energy and space is an interconnection, and the rejection of solar panels on ships breaks all logic.
The situation is similar with the stove and the deconstructor.

In all honesty for me personally from pure aesthetics, I can't imagine anything worse than solar panels on cvs. Solar panels don't sound very Sci fi to me.

Shouldn't need a ton of fuel tanks anyway, just use signal logic to make it easier to switch off power hungry items when they're not being used.

Besides, you can buy promethium ore from the right trader.

Solar panels and batteries could be a thing of the future yes, but then again also nuclear and fusion generators but we don't have those either instead we need to use fuel, and loads and loads of it

That is definitely not something of the future, no space faring race would get very far if dependent on fuel to get anywhere, specially that much

Anyway @cgw 2 you have to rig the system in this game, just build loads of T1 rifles and snipers and sell then in stations, most will take them, and then use the station services to get fuel and pentaxid with the cash

As it turns out, aliens also need gas stations to travel the galaxy, go figure...

Edit the block config or item config depending on where the item you want to edit lays, for furnace it block config id: 1132 find the line that says AllowPlacingAt: Base, display: true change that to: AllowPlacingAt: "Base,MS", display: true and make them both base and capital ship, that's what I do. I also use a custom scenario with a few custom planets that have more ore than you will normally find on the planets. Due the same thing with solar generator and panels. And if you find there a little weak boost the SolarPanelEfficiency stat till you get what your looking for.

For 99% of space travelling time, solar panels would be completely useless on any ship apart the ones who spend all their time close to a star. As soon as a ship starts getting further, the amount of solar energy received becomes insignificant, and the longest distances are between stars, not inside star systems. But of course it's a game...

We were told a few years ago, after a heated discussion about making hidden thrusters "forbidden", that we would see some alternative propulsion systems/ engines, and these would not be "solar powered". We're still waiting to see what they meant by this.

That's all well and good for the furnace and deconstructor but solar panels are currently very buggy on anything but bases. They do (usually) work but often require a reload of the attached vehicle to function properly. Its an issue that the devs seem to be unwilling to fix for whatever reason.

I want solar panels on ships as well. I like to operate from a mobile base, and it's annoying that you can't run on solar when you're parked in orbit somewhere and you just need power for grow lights and constructors.

IF the game only takes the BA position once to feed the "calculate Solar Input" set of variables (depending on angle/ time of day) then it's easy to understand why it's not going to work correctly on any moving object. If the function updates position each frame then it becomes useless for fixed BA and just adds a task to the CPU for no reason.

Players could simply make an alternate generator that requires very little fuel and yields just basic energy for fridges/ plants stuff, but unusable for thrust and other tasks. Players can then shut down all other gens and leave the custom one "on" when vacating the ship.

Guys, the point is not even what is effective or not, the solar panel is very cool (sexy so to speak). and if this is not there, then it greatly enrages. and upsets. The solar panel is installed in absolutely all games, on all missiles and ships, but not egs.

The solar panel needs to be placed on ships, remove these calculations with corners and let the solar panel give a fixed output in any position.

That's not the way to do it.

If solar panels are going to be added to CVs, they should be added the right way by fixing the calculations so they work properly.

They were designed to be semi-realistic, with the cost of being limited to Bases because of what we explained up here. Also this was based on what players wanted at some point (at least partly) so it's a bit late now to come after the party and try to change things.

If players want solar panels with a fixed and constant output (even at night lol) then they can make them as custom blocks, just like they can make all other kinds of custom blocks to replace the ones players don't like.

On planet can be tied to time. It's always day in space. The shadow can be neglected and not counting who will bother there and calculate the principle of the solar panel.

But then why call them solar panels if they generate energy anywhere? Why not call them something like zero point energy modules if they just give free energy no matter what?

No, I think if solar is going to be added to CVs, just take the time to add them right. They are already available in some custom scenarios.

Also in the game there is no :
    Wind turbine.
    No water electro generator
    No geothermal springs.

I think you should have to align your ship to the sun to get the benefit of solar panels, because solar panels aren't supposed to simply be free energy, they are a method of harvesting a steady stream of energy to provide a base load to run life support and industrial equipment on by positioning your ship correctly.

Make the use of solar panels possible only when the engines are turned off. Thus, it is not necessary to constantly calculate the output power depending on the angle of inclination to the star. I apologize for the machine translation
