The Robinson Protocol is directed to new players as a brief, basic guide (!) on how to start in the game. Would be great to have your opinion on how the chapters have been set up, things or info missing and else.
No. Because as soon as you place your own core those Explosive blocks are disabled. Just as any other POI you put your Core in.
I've only played about 15 min into the single player Survival, and I'm impressed. You catch my attention right off. Falling to the planet surface with no control as to where to land, falling rather fast too. No utility in the capsule (cargo or bed), and starting out badly injured, hungry and not so much as a Survival Tool (yes it is a nearby drop). It felt like a whole new Game. Got my adrenalin pumping again.
Not protocol per se, but that's where my pod landed, right next to faction territory. This would make game a lot harder for new player. Maybe check for some minimal distance from faction territory when deciding spawnpoint?
Were you able to see the text pop up when the screen goes dark right after the escape pod touched the ground ? It flashes on really fast, I can't read it...
I finally got a glimpse of the text. It's not logged in the PDA, it's a prompt that starts with " Press F to ... " then the black screen goes back to the game too quickly. Did a few starts do be able to see it. Maybe a remnant of the old "Press F to retrieve your equipment from the escape pod" ?
Could be a remnant of the old PDA that was actual replaced but seemed to have re-surfaced ... could you write a Bug Report?
Doesn't look like a bug, but more like a "this black screen will go by so fast players will not see anything" but then they don't have my potato computer. Let me crank all video settings so I go down to 2 - 3 fps then I can litterally make a screenshot... ^^
Finished the Robinson Protocol 1+2 and had the WP to settlement up but as walking over there I started the Hunt the predator quest because bunch raptors where around. This made it so can not start story missions as I go to settlement and no WP or mission objectives pop up. So if do this seems you are done and stuck.
AFAIK..if you finish your Hunt Mission and get closer to the Settlement the Quest will pop up again. Only if you actively Cancel a offered Mission it won't pop up again. But you can open your PDA and pick it up from there.. under Solo Missions
I barely saw the black screen, but then I do have a fairly good Geforce GTX 1050 TI video card with 32 gig ram system memory. The game loads pretty quick.
Base Building > Farming Food processor needs a fridge for input/output; this is not explained to the player. Equip/place growing plot - Player no longer starts with water (I didn't notice any around the escape pod) and water collection is not explained. A new player would be stuck here. Also O2, radiation, temperature and their effects on farming deserve to be mentioned at least.
Starting on all other worlds but the Temperate Planet is explained on the Starting Screens to be for Experienced Players only... But in some way you are right, of course.
That's a remain of the previous game start. No worries, nothing will go boom .. maybe go for a short walk when you hear something ticking down .. just in case
Having not ran through the "Robinson Protocol" tutorial in quite some time, not since it was moved into its own thing and not part of the early game, and being a "veteran" of the game (I use that term loosely), I found it rather refreshing. Some parts were a little confusing to me only because I did my normal early game stuff and just skimmed the instructions of the tutorial. So I started the tutorial again and this time took more time to actually follow what I was being instructed to do. I think most veterans of the game will find the landing to be a bit confusing because we will skim through the messages as we have done so many many many many,... [ahem] many... times, well... at least I did, but when I finally actually read the messages it made more sense. "Press 'F' to access the escape pod" is what the message said (or something very close to that) and what I read was "Press 'F' to escape the pod" as I remember that it used to say. So I kept thinking to myself "I'm already outside the pod, how am I going to escape it now". Until I finally actually read the message correctly. Anyway, when it asks you to access the escape pod and gather everything from... huh... it... umm... its empty. So what exactly am I supposed to transfer to my "backpack"? So you have to move something to the pod and then retrieve it for the mission to continue. Btw... I did not do a fresh install, if that would make a difference. So far I've made it up to... [spoilers] Attacking the training facility. Personally speaking, I think this should be a little more difficult. At this point in the tutorial I've been attacked by a Zirax drone that just happened to be flying by (that's a thing now? Good!), multiple spiders and several raptors. I took the Zirax drone down with the handgun and 20 cartridges. This in itself is a huge difference from earlier versions as the early handgun was formerly just a paperweight and not much more. The several spiders and raptors met the muzzle blast of my shotgun. Then I meet the training facility with its two rabid dogs and single Zirax resident. Cakewalk. Even the single turret was less of a challenge than the several spiders I've ran across by this point. Maybe increase the difficulty just a little bit. After all, the player is gaining an entire base, albeit a small broken base, but a nearly complete base nonetheless. This is my two cents so far.
I does actually To test the new tutorial/robinson protocol, do not start the scenario but simply a default game please (the separate scenario tutorial has not changed)
