Please make posters a texture tool unlock rather than a peaceable item. It takes up a block space that I could otherwise use for signal devices or other items.
Then they'd have to add a new block type for them because there's no room for more textures on the existing block types.
There is a limit to the number of textures, and I assume a similar limit applies to the symbols as well. While I think the max textures and symbols should be increased, and I hope they will be, I don't think we'll be seeing these posters added to them.
I'm sorry, who are you? Are you like a member of the development team, or someone familiar with Unity? You've got a lot of reasons to shut this idea down without really giving reasons why. There's other ways to work around limitations. Such as a "poster tool" or something like that. They managed to combine the functions of the texture tool and the color tool already so I don't see how this should be a limitation for them. I don't think you know what you are talking about or are speaking from the limitations of your own experiences.
I think it's a good suggestion, I'm just telling you the reasons they've given in the past for not adding new textures or symbols to the texture tool. It's been requested many times and they've given the same answer each time: the texture atlas is out of room. I wouldn't know why they can't or won't change that now or if they have plans to change it in the future, but that is the reason they have given for now. You don't have to trust me, you can wait for a response from a developer if you prefer. Maybe it will help push it up the list of priorities. Maybe they could add them as projector sprites or something if they can't add them to the texture tool. But I am giving you the answers they have given the rest of us.
There we go. A little ounce of positivity does wonders for your conveyance. Now I understand. Excellent feedback and a great response from someone who has a lot of experience on the forums. Thank you for that.
I also support the idea of converting this to a decal or texture. Or, if there is some game engine limitation preventing this with a 1970s-style 8-bit code limitation, how about turning off collision for posters and adjusting the jpg transparency to 99% to allow dual-item space occupation? To be honest, the same needs done with LCD projectors and similar items that take up the entire volume space of a full block.
