I just realized I have not played Empyrion for over a year and probably only a few hours in 2 years.

Can anyone give me (or point me in the right direction) an quick easy update on what has changed? I am tempted to pick it up again but want to know what I should look out for that is new content.

    Thank you for the help!

Lots has changed. See patch notes and announcements.
All changes for the better as far as I'm concerned.

The last mentionable patch was the new blocks, that patch was awesome, weight system/flight mechanic is good. Since there, nothing when you ask me what changed.
The "endless" universe is useless without content. All the new factions, pois and ships feel like nothing, there is no reason to explore them. Story is such bugged like not existing. Even while its just press text away infront of low texture frozen characters. Thats NES niveau, even SNES had some improvements over this.
Some nice graphical stuff, entering orbit fluidly, visible mountains from space.

I am still waiting Empyrion gets a game. A game to play. The only reason is collecting ressources to spawn bigger and harvest more ressources to farm even more ressources and at the point when you finally reached this goal you realize there is nothing and there was nothing more.
Even modders cant realy create content because you can dilute wine with water only limited. That game has such low wine and is allready overwatered like a 2x cooked teabag.

99% of the loot is trash and the 1% is predictable 4-5 items. Clearing big dungeons often gives you nothing. Not nothing like "määh that was bad", nothing like really nothing. When you substract your cost for ammo and repairing you get a negative result.

At all it feels like early alpha patches with basic gamemechanics.

sry, that was kinda rant style. Give the game a shot

If the player would have wanted a Rant he would have asked for it, yes?
He asked for the NEW STUFF and not your PERSONAL OPINION as it is not representative for ALL Players.
Best would be you rephrase it.:)

He asked a question about new content. I just told what i remember as last patches worth to mention and listed some in my opinion definitive missing patches to it.

I noticed myself this is going rant, thats why i wrote it below but a full version game in this state, creates rants often just when people say their honest opinion to it. I dont think this was insulting, unfair or overacted. Thast my view over the last years with the game, like there is still no content and dont hope for modders rescue anything like in other games. My opinion to the story is maybe harsh but its true, i have seen better questdialogs on SNES and they worked until last mission.
When i check our community forum over 50% is "mission xx dont work", pls help.

Thats my personal opinion and is not representative for all players, thats how opinions work. I really liked this game long but the lack of progression is frustrating. Content patch is announced for december, with the usual scedule delay maybe early next year i await a new patch. Bugfixes are nice and nessesacry, same like graphic improvements but he asked what content he is missing.

I'm hearing plenty of wine already.

    Being a work-in-progress is very different than a completed-work-in-perpetual-update-status.

Really shouldn't need any more explanation than that, but let's tack on the fact that this is a survival-sandbox game, and sandbox games have a track record of, at some point, you've done everything there is to do repeatedly, so it becomes very much up to you to find new ways to amuse yourself, or a different sandbox to play in, because that's a thing that happens.

Don't have links handy as I'm on mobile, but the update notes linked to you above are a good source.

    Mass/volume system.
    Cpu system.
    Randomly generated galaxy.
    A ton of new POIs.
Npc faction reputation system and new factions added.
    Graphical improvements.
    Overhauled story missions.
    A bunch of other things.

And if you get bored of the default game there's some very good custom content out there either as scenarios in the workshop or many servers have their own customization.

Thats kinda a rule for this kind of games but in comparsion to other competitors they dont score high. Creative mode is the coregame actually.

Dont let us forget we talk about a game in (i always call it this way) champions league. Its a complete deformable and free buildable engine like Minecraft. There are so many voxel clones out there but Empyrion is at least in the reasonable sector.
It seems every developer in voxel games has same problems, looong alphas, tons of bugs, lags, lack of content before modder have free hands.

I dont see EA, Blizzard, Valve, Nintendo, Capcom, Konami, Rockstar, Bio Ware, SquareEnix, TakeTwo,... or anyone of the dozens of big game tech companys out there have the balls to present a freebuilder fulldstructable voxel based world!

Its always Indiedevs with limited ressources and not easy 100 programmer outsourcing megacompanys.
Even when this sounds rant, to be bad in champions league, is still champions league!
Maybe there is a good reason none of the big companys even try it.

True. The mega corps comes in when the game is good and snaps it up for 2.5B, adding an ingame shop, selling what you previously could make yourself or download for free on the internet.
