Hiya guys, i've noticed after a while of playing the new version that the Deconstructor is heavily nerfed now... i can't deconstruct almost anything, from complex stuff and important to literally junk.

I used to be able to deconstruct anything. Now several items and resources can't be deconstructed.
I need a bit of clarification as to why has this been done...

For example the Motorbike construction kit... if you find several of those lying around but you seriously don't need them, is the only option, sell them or trash them?

For the more important stuff such as the optronic matrix large/small can't be deconstructed, should you not need them right now, but you could use the resources is made out of for other projects?

Can the deconstructor be made to be able to deconstruct every item please?
It seriously feels like a decorative block with these limitations... and a bit frustrating to have such a massive block in the base with it not knowing whether the next thing you're going to throw in it is just going to stay there...

Thanks for the help guys in advance! ;)

PS: i will upload a list of the items that can't be deconstructed once i have time, but please devs... make it a proper space age from the Andromeda galaxy tire, Deconstructor, at this level the minimum should be able to deconstruct everything all the way to the ingots and alloys...

As far as I have observed, the deconstructor should return you exactly those items that would be needed to construct when looking at the item descriptions in a constructor except ores or everything below a steel plate. If you have ores, enter them in a furnace to quickly make ingots. That's what I have observed but there may be other exceptions for rare items which may not exactly return 1:1 all raw ressources, or not be at all deconstructable.
Also you enter only things in a deconstructor which are not needed for any blueprint you intend to build, otherwise enter the devices in the factory. Weapons can always be sold except a T2 assault weapon and epic stuff.

See that is awesome, is exactly how i approached this.
And i agree with all you said.

The problem i have is that a motorbike construction kit should not be a rare item right?
It's among the first things you craft when you start the game. The problem is when you find them laying around, and not much use for them but to trash them or sell them... for 10 credits? :p

Rare items... eeeeh.... i mean the logic of the developers is sound, in order to keep a level of challenge to the game... i think... but when we are talking about a deconstructor device, shouldn't it deconstruct everything just like you said Japp_02?

And like my suggestion, this is a space aged, car sized (or truck sized) deconstructor personal factory of sorts... XD
It should, at the way it looks like (like an actual beast) deconstruct anything regardless of it's rarity... and if anyone here saw the playthrough of the youtuber "Spanj" i'm gonna quote him here: **clears throat** "ELEON PLEASE FIX!" :D:D
i'm sorry i really had to, is just so much fun hahahah...

I think the motorbike construction kit, or the bike itself is rated below a steel plate, just not 'valuable' enough for a deconstructor, that's how I see it, I may be wrong of course. Same goes for all items in the survival constructor, if you look at the materials needed to build them, you will see that a deconstrutor never returns such materials which are ores or everything below a steel plate (substrates, raw wood etc.), that's why nothing happens if you enter such things in the deconstructor.

For me, playing with volume OFF the deconstructor is not that important, if all my containers are full to the raft I start a selling action at some space station to make room, however there are a lot of stuff which you cannot sell, like turrets that you salvage etc., but: playing with volume ON you need to carefully think about your container space and deconstructors become essentially important, that's because they allow you to re-arrange your container slots for more materials, e.g. you can have up to 4000 steel plates in 1 slot, whereas you are limited with the nr. of slots for entire devices.
If you can, invest in a trasnport ship with lots of containers, that way you have a ready tool if ever you need to construct something in a hurry, and if really you have tons of surplus material, then spawn a Ilmarinen or Titan, then you have cargo space for the rest of your life I think :)
Even if deconstructors would convert everything it would still not resolve the problem of limited containers, so the gameplay wouldn't change very much.

As mentioned above, it doesn't do certain things, and never has.

It's primarily usable for things like Forcefields, Laser and Pulse rifles, old Constructors when you've upgraded, etc. The mentioned items are particularly good as they give a lot of the Rare ores and things like Oscillators. Sometimes it's best to sell those looted Rifles, sometimes to deconstruct for the Rares. Other times the Factory is your friend.

BTW - if you search the Steam Workshop for a 'DUMP', you'll find several that let you dump things for later builds. Very handy rather than moving a particular ship or Base to the Factory, lets you change your mind later and switch ships (as long as you didn't start the build).
Keep in mind, if you put it in the Factory, you get the best conversion (although the Deconstructor is pretty good), but once put in, it's there for good, no take backs.:)

I too am annoyed that things like Matrixes and Optronic Bridges don't work, but they don't and there's little hope the Devs will change that.

Remember that Elon is a SMALL studio, so they have to prioritize and often refuse to acknowledge community requests, even if the crowd looks like the mob in Young Frankenstein. Wooden rakes and torches, et al. That said, they've created a wonderful game. Like all games, it has it's warts.

A couple tips - Always turn OFF the Teleporters, Deconstructers and Constructors when not using, they eat up fuel. You can also remove and store them on a CV to reduce CPU and power needs. I often do that in Early, smaller CV play. Put a Tool Turret ON and remove the Advanced Constructor, then swap when needed.

LOL! I'm well over a 1000 hours and STILL feel like a noob. So to answer your Q ... a while. :p:D
That's one of the joys of this game, it has so many layers and great re-playability. It actually gets better as you go, but it does have warts.
    Cheers!

It takes a few minutes to change the configs. They could make them work in the decon it they wanted. It's a game decision.

Ah! I need to learn more computing and coding language then... lol...
If it is this easy to do certain minor changes then they really probably should heh...

I guess it has come to this then! "ELEOOON! FIX!" (Spanj - June 2020) :D
