Right i seriously HATE this... until now nothing made me more furious than a stupid mechanic as this one... I have already read the arguments and the posts about it and it seems to have gone through one ear and exited the other... Why in all HONESTY would you even bother to put this image in the loading screen when itr is a SERIOUS lie!!!??? Old Quote from @dichebach from the post related to this very issue a year ago which seems to have been completely ignored as these ships STILL forcefully despawn in SINGLE PLAYER!: ""MIGHT I SUGGEST THAT applying the mechanics you have devised to keep your servers running to my offline singleplayer PVE experience is QUITE a BAD design decision? Give us an option toggle: Despawn Timer ON/OFF in singleplayer. Do you NOT understand what the OP was saying!? He/she LOVED your game. You broke it for them. I have a very similar response. The fact you people cannot comprehend how mechanics that are necessary for server performance may have NO BUSINESS in singleplayer mode is shockingly dense."" Is it too hard to ask to give players the option to deactivate this stupid mechanic in single player? SINGLE PLAYER???! I get it it was done for multiplayer but there are those of us who don't play MULTIPLAYER and to force such a dumb mechanic on a single player is ABHORRANT! I don't know WHAT you've been doing until now, i don't care, but the scandal is LITERALLY in the THOUSANDS of people who don't like this... I don't have to mention Spanj do i? He has been mentioned in that post, and the defence was "He reported the bug" but i'm pretty sure He still hates ships despawning... And when you devs say it is easier to complain here's a respone: HOW ELSE IS A PLAYER GOING TO SAY THEY ARE SERIOUSLY DISAPOINTED IN THE GAME THEY BOUGHT TO PLAY?!? How else are we going to change something we don't like? Complaints are a good thing when you make a game for public consumption, they tell the producer the good is BROKEN!
For project Eden/reforged Eden I set the despawn timer to 1 hour which should give plenty of time to salvage a ship. They can still despawn sometimes but ever since my latest update I have heard much fewer complaints about it so hopefully it's providing a less frustrating experience for people. A toggle would be even better, but for now I recommend just playing a scenario where it is set higher in the playfield configuration files.
I bought this game a few months ago. I usually played it by myself and for the first weeks I had a lot of fun with it. But I lost interest very quickly when I found that the ships kept despawning. At first, I thought that it was a bug as it didn't make sense to me that it could be a game mechanic. Then, I found that a lot of people had the same experience as me and it is actually a game mechanic. So, yes, that picture is very deceiving. It should be a toggleable option. From time to time I check if this feature has already been added, but sadly it feels like a never-ending wait. @Devs, please consider adding this option. This game is awesome, but this game-breaking mechanic keeps me from playing it...
I seriously hope it doesn't come to the point that the entire Eleon company goes bankrupt because players keep being ignored by the team... especially when serious matters such as these are highlighted without end... You HEAR US ELEON?! BANKRUPCY AWAITS YOU IF YOU DON'T START PUTTING MORE EFFORT INTO LISTENING TO YOUR CUSTOMERS!!! On the other hand, if your team is small, think of HIRING more STAFF so that you can satisfy the players more often and easier and THIS WAY you get MORE FAME AND LOVE and eventually become better at what you are doing! It's called marketing basics and evolution!
While I think the devs believe they have a good reason for setting up a despawn timer, I don't think there's any real need for it. Capturing a ship should be a viable choice. Not all of us are talented builders and we'd be more than happy to commandeer an enemy vessel for our own purposes. It's not enough IMO to be able to loot the vessel. I'd personally like to take my prize home and fix it up to use on a permanent basis. Especially with as hard as some of these ships are to disable in the first place. Obviously we can work around this by taking the ship, blueprinting it, then spawning a duplicate that won't despawn, but why should we have to do things this way?
I to have suggested this somewhere else on the forum. I understand the decision behind this but do agree there should be a option in the settings to turn on/off in single player and multiplayer. The option to turn on/off would then fall to server admins in mp or the person in sp. I agree it would be nice to capture a ship as a prize and haul it back to main base to refit and use or salvage.
PICKS UP THE PITCHFORK, THE TORCH, THE SWORD AND STARTS TO LEAD THE ANGRY MOB AT THE GATE OF ELEON ELEOOONN!!! FIX!!! (@spanj 2020/2021)
so I’ve not really played much on either of these amazing mods. Is this an option like suggested or by default can you capture ships? although this would be nice in vanilla
Does this mean one can seize control of, say, a Zirax patrol vessel after disabling it in a fight in Project Eden? I admit I haven't been in a position to attempt that yet, and if so that would be very cool.
No sadly you cannot actually capture patrol vessels or freighters and fly them as that is hard coded, but you do get more time to salvage them (except for space defense ships because again, hard coded). So at least you can take your time looting and salvaging.
People who demand such a change are the same who be the first to complain about the dropping Frame Rates when 'discovering' all the floating Space Junk. Keep in mind that not all of the Community runs the most modern PC's with a superfast I-Net Connection.
riiiiiiight.... But i'm not part of your group of assumed types of people pal! i for one also don't have a good pc, in fact i'm playing from a crap Laptop... i am playing from Nvidia Now Geforce which helps me play more stuff.... And for goodness sake you might have not really cared to pay attention to the original argument???? PUT THE OPTION enphasis on OPTION that is a button for YOU the PLAYER to flip on and off whenever you want, if you like the despawning thing then it is up to you to flipping leave the mechanic on while the request for the SWITCH ON/OFF is also there for those of us who DON'T like this crap! Because in the end it IS enforced to all players not just the ones who can't deal with too many poi's The crap part is BECAUSE IT IS ENFORCED ON ALL! By the way @ravien_ff I ABSOLUTELY LOOOVE your mod! and that galaxy changed structure tho!!!! 5 stars bruh!
You lowlife content thief! I'M the one that referenced Young Frankenstein with pitchforks! LOL! Seriously, I play Solo and HATE this despawning too. Pass me a torch.
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I thought it would be funny to see if you would pick this up... and alas you DID! heheheeh... welcome! **Gives a promethium enhanced torch** (watch out they be quite explosive )
I'll be honest, I can count the number of times I've fired on or been fired on by another ship on half of one hand. I find ship-to-ship combat exceptionally dull, and PvP ship-to-ship combat less fun than a game of Grass Growing Simulator, so I just don't do it. I have had bases shoot down Patrol Vessels, and I quickly disassemble them with an HV into parts and components, but other than that, I just can't muster any interest in it. I will say it has improved considerably from the days of shooting down a "Ghost" faction ship (not "Ghyst", it used to be "Ghost"), and was able to seize and blue print the couple ships I brought down (the designs all proved to be fairly poor when attempting to 'convert' them into warp-capable, useful ships), so I quit doing that as well.
