If you guys read the patchnotes, then you might know that the Wastelanders are going to be added in 1.6/1.7 as a functioning stand alone Faction. We already have quite a few POI‘s and OPV‘s (thanks to @Darth Zaphod and @Don2k7 aswell) but it‘s always good to have more. So, if you like the idea of this faction, then I’m challenging you to come up with great POI‘s and OPV‘s! First, a little bit of lore (still not finished, more will be added) : After not meeting the demands of a Xenu Commander their planet was ordered to be destroyed by Nuclear fire and weaponry. With their world now plunged into chaos they were scattered to the ends of the universe. Those who survived learned how to live off the scraps of war. Blind with revenge they started to take on a role similar to Pirates, pillaging, stealing, and killing all who had something they wanted. However they wanted to be something different, something greater than just "pirates". Together the civilians, engineers, and soldiers of this lost homeworld joined forces, creating a faction known as the Wastelanders. Their primary goal was to seek revenge on the empire that destroyed their beloved home - the ZIRAX! Using gurilla warfare and tactics, the Wastelanders were able to take down and steal enemy ships. Slowly they grow bigger...scrap by scrap...biding their time until...they can take their revenge and RELEASE all those years worth of pain and suffering on their enemy. Alright, next part is how everything should look like: for that, it’s pretty much open. Like you could look at some of my OPV‘s and POI‘s for preference, other than that you are pretty „free“ in terms of building style. Only thing that’s important is that it should have this „rugged/industrial/used“ look. (If you have some ideas that aren’t written here, feel free to hit me up with a pm.) Needed POI‘s (Planetary) - Settlement (i have one already built, but more variation is nice) - Armory (Heavily guarded, maybe even a dungeon type POI) - Monument (more for lore, kinda like to remember the fallen people from the zirax nuking incident (i will try to build this one, but if not, i will update this)) - Outpost (a few variations) - Factory (to produce weapons and all, dungeon type again) - ruins for the homeplanet Needed POI‘s (Orbital) - Settlement (kinda like out of ship scraps, but open for any design that fits. Again, variation is nice) - Assembly Station (like for ships where they construct or deconstruct them) - Defence Stations - Turret Stations (like to spawn around important POI's, variation is nice) - Production Facilities (like O2, Fuel, Pentaxid) - Wreckages (from existing Wastelander ships or new ones) Needed OPV‘s - more freighters - Dreadnought type Ship - Destroyer type Ships (early to lategame) - A ship colony (like multiple smaller ships copy and pasted onto one Core to give that "Colony" feeling) - random smaller ships for variation That’s everything I can think of right now. if you any questions, feel free to PM me. also, if you already have build something, post it under the Showroom: https://empyriononline.com/forums/showroom-submissions.108/ if you are not familiar with it or have quite a lot, you can send it to me and either I post it or I make a folder and send them all at once. Well, go nuts and let your creativity flow as long as it can stay under the limited sizeclass. of course small ships build in adds to the lore of the POI so Yes, that would be cool.
So lets see, I went and made this: Spoiler: Sneaky Sneaky Which is more of a "base" than it is a station.... and I hope that works for you. To me, "hidden" implies small, so I went minimalist. Kinda out-did myself with that black shroud. Very cool stuff. Will likely confuse the hell out the players. The entrance has 4 switches with multiple combinations for entry, but also multiple combinations to release hazards on the intruder: It has two large unfinished rooms: so you can add stuff or maybe the wastelanders are still digging out the asteroid. There is also a side entrance that is harder to see but I will not post it here even with the spoiler tag. I want to emphasize that it does NOT; not not not have spawners. I loaded several other wastelanders POI's(which are spectacular by the way) and noticed that they were all human spawns? That should be a conflict with the main storyline but that is ultimately up to Hummel. Also, while you are adding spawners, if you want to add to this POI go nuts(not that you needed my permission but wanted to say so just in case.) Here is how it spawns: BP attached.

I wanted to set about making some low-level turrets but discovered that the existing turrets in the public submissions thread were very similar to the ideas I had. So, I decided to make a salvage operation instead: Pretty straight forward. Someone or something shot down a Xenu cutter and owing to the excellent construction quality that the Xenu bring to their ships, only parts of it broke off in atmospheric entry or in the firefight. The bulk then skidded to a halt with some damage but also a great deal of lost paint. After that the wastelanders sent their little ground thingies(which I copy + pasted from the super awesome dungeon POI) and set up a temporary turret for cover while they attempt to assess things. Once again, this does NOT have spawners as I am unsure about what to set in them. The hulks and the turret+ground are held up with hardened steel of truss blocks not just the filler blocks and as a result of all the copy+pasting I did it desperately needed a cleared pivot. Another thought just occurred to me; if you end up not using the black entrance cover - let me know. I had an idea of how to use that for the Void.
oh wow, awesome! you know what's actually really funny, i have a "wip" poi where they shot down a zirax ship (corvette) that is quite similar...maybe we can have them somehow connected lore-wise. (plan was that zirax and wastelanders fight each other in that poi, but because they are not a faction yet it's not functioning) also, in terms of spawners, i only use human soldiers, cyborgs and mechs. i have a few ideas about that, so it doesnt interferre with the base-game terrans. (maybe something like different kind of humans or something xD) i added the file so you maybe can take a peek at it - again, wip
Yeah, it is very similar: Sorry, I did not mean to steal your thunder. I would use them both - a big theme with your faction is their animosity towards the Zirax so it would make sense that they would be doing everything in their power to down their ships.
all good mate. yes, that is a very good point. but the one from me is probably more of a thing that i can finish after the faction gets in the game. (so it works with the spawners and everything)
alright, i checked both the hidden asteroid station and the salvage poi out and those are freaking awesome! thank you so much. i will add spawners in and set them up, play test them then submit them. thanks again!
