Hi! to make a long story short I am not able to see a friend's server and cannot join when invited, that is an issue I will ask to resolve in another thread. However, in this thread, I would like to ask how to properly download a world! I wanted to play in this world even after my friend went to bed and shut off his computer going to sleep. So, I asked if he could send me a copy of his world file so I could play on my computer and host the server on my computer since I'm not worried about it staying up at night. I should clarify this is a co-op server. I had him send me both compressed and uncompressed versions of the server in a zip file over email. i downloaded it into the Saves/games folder both separately. I extracted one, and tried to find it in my load games in empyrion but didn't see it. I tried the same with the other one and the same result. I did a bit of searching and saw someone saying that you need to look for a long string of numbers in a .ply data format. this is supposed to be the person's steam account number and I'm supposed to change it out for my own. the one issue is that while I found the string of numbers they are all for 3d models and I can't find a file with a .ply data format. If I'm doing this whole world download thing all wrong please do tell! if there's a place in my files i should look to find the .ply formatted file also please inform me! I recommend looking into renting a dedicated server from a hosting company or hosting your own. This would allow you both to play whenever you want without having to move save files back and forth which has a high chance of breaking things.
