You can easily check this yourself by simply opening any blueprint file (epb) in notepad and looking at the first lines. In a creative game I spawned the "Javelin" prefab and saved is as "mine" : You can see the 1st author's name is still there, before mine. Then I spawned "my version" of the Javelin and saved it again as a V2, and the file shows this : The original author is still shown, and it now added my custom name for the blueprint. If we look in the stock prefabs folder for the CORE Javelin, we see this : Stock blueprints have gone through many fixes and revisions, so the names indicate the order in which people saved the blueprint, starting with the 1st author.
I'm not sure this will lead you to the original author. My guess is at some point most of the prefabs have been copied to a new core possibly to fix some issue and this will make whomever did this the new original author (just a guess). Unless Vermillion/Hummel rebuilt the SV by hand which is also possible. Like Fractalite mentioned prior the original author of the Blue Dart appears to be Mr. IceCat. It's not on his workshop but you can see it in some of his other group shots. Also like I mentioned prior Nickodeimos appears to be the author of the Velites (Javelin) I verified this by looking on his workshop. He has 2 versions posted from 2017. 2 other SV prefabs (no name just prefab #) are actually by Vexray I believe and show Luke1(?) as the author in game. It's not a huge deal and I'm not accusing anyone of anything. I just happened to notice a while back when I looked for the authors on the workshop to see what else they may have built.
I suspected something like that could have happened when they re-worked the blueprints format, as was evidenced with a tool that was made to import 3d models in game under the standard epb format that seemed to be broken after the change. In any case it's also possible that among the thousands of builds made by players over the years that many tend to look very similar, because of the limited shapes collection and some design tendencies shared by many builders. This may be especially true for smaller builds since even less blocks are used. Of course when the name is also the same then it's puzzling. I don't really care about blueprint ownership and all that workshop star thing, honestly. I can understand some players may see this as some kind of contest and get all riled up if they see something similar to their builds and feel "robbed" but in the Grand Scheme of Things it is just another instance of misplaced ego that will be lost in time... "like tears in the rain"... ^^
Interesting, I never opened the files itself and have only looked at the blueprint. Today I was going through the workshop and saw something that made me laugh. Rainbow Dash
That's "original" haha. My daughter would love it, despites the fact she doesn't play anymore because the game is too buggy for her taste. I will surely never post on the workshop, because I have strange taste among other things. Here, my "vison" of a " Mother Ship " :
It reminds me of Mazinger. The female robots in the series had oppai missiles and Mazinger had finger rocket launchers I think? I know some of the toys did. The stiff pose of the vessel actually reminds me specifically of the Mazinger sold under the "Shogun Warriors" label in the US. It's cool in a retro 70s way. Can't say I'd relish flying that in Empyrion though. Seems like it would be a pain
so today carried on working on Ravagers Faction, started homeworld Lupus Temple Prime still WIP got lower level to do and more detail to add outside
Hey Gang! It's been a hard 6 months or more since I lost ALL my blueprints. I just couldn't get back into the rhythm. I was trying to work up to rebuild my Project Eagle builds when I found my back-up files. How I missed them before, I don't know or care. Hopefully it has nothing to do with turning 70 in a couple of weeks. But I digress. I don't know how to re-insert the BPs into thge game. I thought I could just add them to the existing "blueprint" folder in the game file, but no dice. This is unfortunate because that had always been my plan in such an event. Please, can someone help me. The plans are at my fingertips, but I can't do anything. H-E-E-E-L-L-P!!
Did you try copying them in ... Empyrion - Galactic Survival\Saves\Blueprints\(yourplayerID)\-here- ... where they all have their respective folder, with names of the folder being the same as the name of each .epb file ? Edit : to find your player ID just look in any savegame for the " \Players" folder. Inside that folder you will see one file and one folder, both with a long series of numbers as name. This is the ID that you need to name your blueprints folder with.
I am confused by what you mean here; you want them added to the BP folder so that they show up in the BP library in the game? Or do you mean into the previous save? The best way to get them back into the library is to find the location Kass mentioned, then drag highlight all of the BP's in the now recovered file and Copy + paste them into your current game directory. It may ask to overwrite files in which case you will need to choose.
@Kassonnade , @Fractalite Thank you for quick response. I didn't know about the ID. I think i must have used the wrong saved/blueprint file because I didn't see the 3 new BPs I had recently created. I'll report back any results SUCCESS!!! I didn't realize what that ID folder was. I had put all my recovered BP folders below it. And of course, I found my other BPs inside. Coming back is gonna be a long process. I'm gonna have to relearn everything from the last 5 years. Used to be I had to relearn my job everytime I took a vacation. And that was only 7 - 10 days!
That looks like a great Creation to Spawn in to test a Vehicle's Weapons Performance & Placement Configuration on! That's how I feel about trying to get back into Empyrion! For the Topic:
Nice to see a familiar nym! I tried Empyrion a few days ago after 3 years away and then dropped by as well. Still a nice crowd and a fun game.
Honestly, I just simply went to Google Images, then tried a search for somethin like "independence day hello boys i'm back", & thankfully it worked. (That Scene of the Movie is so Iconic it'd be absurd for it to not have gotten Meme'd...) For the Topic: Can't really keep my marbles together too well anymore, but when I can feel up to it, tryin out makin a new HV while trying to scrape the massive amount of rust off my Empyrion Skills. Honestly, even after all this time, I feel like how my Building Style is turning out feels like i'm already building in familiar 'Tyrax Style' ways... Also, anyone know if Hummel is still around? I asked him some questions in a New Convo a couple days ago & have gotten no response. Especially important is getting caught up on what kinda stuff is still Classified... I still have Honor to maintain & i'm afraid to give any Details on anything at all on what i'm doin specifically till I can be sure I can avoid any accidental Breaches of Honor. (Aka NDA Violation...)
Don't worry. Just tell us what you're thinking of, and if we never heard about it we will tell you, so you can avoid revealing classified stuff inadvertently.
