Just buff them up about 20-30% slower depletion speed. Currently, whatever you do on a battlefield with a strong SV is pretty useless. I know they reload fast, but for that you need to leave and go out of fire range, that's not a good mechanic. A shield reload that takes a couple of seconds (visible in the bar) and which consumes Pentaxid would be better for gameplay.
This. I am new to the game and my first experience with SV shields yesterday was incredibly disappointing. I attacked a Lv. 3 drone base and my shield was fully depleted almost immediately. I attacked the same base with an SV with no shields, stayed in combat much longer and took many more hits. However, there was only minor damage to the hull. Am I missing something? The wiki says that SV shields have 4000 HP, but that must be incorrect. Given the apparent squishiness of the SV shield, and the fact that pentaxid is a limited resource for me at this stage in the game, there is no incentive to use shields.
The game wiki is outdated since a long time, don't rely on it. As long as your shields are not at zero, none of your blocks will get damaged and destroyed, but with SVs the transition is very fast, you should leave combat when shields are around 20% which you can see in the shield bar in the HUD. Failing that you get massive damages up to ending your game, unless you have a specialized SV Tier 4 where all the frontside can be destroyed and you are still operable. But so or so, it's no fun with the current shield mechanic IMO. Trying to keep up your shields means you must avoid enemy fire which is pretty impossible, even with A/D lateral movement, and while you do it you do nothing else and the battle doesn't advance for either side. Also with an SV unaware of Tier you have around 10-20 seconds until your shields go from 100 to 0, that's a joke and why I'm asking to nerf-up the depletion time, a reasonable and easy remedy, probably it can be done by tweaking the game files, but I want to avoid that, messing-up the game is too big a risk for me.
