My wife and I have been wandering all over Akua for 2-3 hours trying to find Carbon to make the portable crafter. Is this in a specific Biome or something? We find Iron, Copper and Silicone all over, but no carbon, which is what we need to proceed. Any help appreciated.

I can only speak for single player, but carbon is really common now in 1.8 and the most important ressource. You find it in rocks or in deposits readiy to mine. Set your survival tool to 'Ressources' with RMB and point to the rocks that can be harvested, you will see on the lower right of the screen what ressource the rock will yield. Be aware that not all rocks can be harvested, some are pure decor only.
You should find one soon and get the necessary amount of carbon be able to craft the portable constructor with your survival constructor (Tab > survival constructor).

I may need a few more specifics, because most of this I figured out last night (as far as that it tells you what can be harvested in the lower right and such). But we were unable to find any at all that said carbon or anything close. So is it only in the carbon specific rocks, or can you find it also in other "general" rocks that don't have a specific type? Because, like I said, we wandered all over and couldn't find any specific carbon labeled rocks.

Oh, and not sure if this matters, but in the Resource Deposits list in the list when I am creating the co-op game it lists: iron, copper, silicon and prometheum. Not sure if this matters or not, but no carbon substrate is listed.

Are you playing on a Dedi Server or on an Official Server?
Have you tried to clean Cache of the Game and than Verify the Files by Steam?

I am in co-op with my own server (which for some reason does not appear in the server list, but maybe the "create a server" option creates a diffrerent kind of server that the co-op does? Brand new DL of the game, btw.

When I go to the official server and start, carbon is actually listed on the resource deposits list of all the starter planets. I think co-op is broken.

    When you say Akua,
Are you talking about Akua in the default scenario (Default Random or Default Multiplayer scenario)?

Or did you use the scenario called "Default Akua-Omicron"?
Because this one is not updated and should not be played at all.....

I really wish the devs had chosen better names for the starter moons so it wasn't so confusing. I don't know how they didn't foresee issues with that.

This leads me to believe you choose the "Akua-Omicron" scenario instead of the default scenario....
Otherwise it would have carbon instead of promethium.

Thank you. That was, indeed, the case. I restarted in default multiplayer and it works better. The reason I chose the other one, is it said tutorial was enabled (even though it actually didn't work). In the Default Multiplayer, it says the tutorial is disabled, even though it DOES work. Hahah.

But here is the next question. Why does my game not show up in the public list? The only people that can join have to go in through "friend" access, and even there it only shows up if they are not outside my network. I do have my firewalls off.

Coop games are joined via Steam and should only be running when you (the host) are in the game.
They are for temp play sessions with your friends.

If you want a permanent 24/7 server that others can join without needing to be friends you'll need to start a NEW save game using the true dedicated server (not coop).

Thank you for the info. That partially makes sense now. However, I did create a new server using SteamCMD, following a guide on youtube. But, even with my firewalls off, it still does not show up in the public list, even with public = true.
