Once upon a time... I build all my Vessels INCLUDING CV's in Survival....so ... why not doing it again? Oh, and yes, it is a pain in the 'Nicta'(Narn for Butt)! But whatelse I have to do if I do not like to 'ch...t' around with Creative Mode? First I needed a Construction Site(Yes i know it misses an 'r') Than I could start to work on it...in that pace it will take a lot of time. But at least I can not use Stuff which I don't know yet - Techtree wise. If someone wonders - I parked my HV there too because of the occasional Fire Rains.
Tried to continue the Building Process as much as possible. Well, It flies but its is far from finished. Bigger Rear Truster are not possible because of the Lack of Resources available. So the best I could do is Medium Trusters and T2 CPU Extender (no Gold for more or better). Anyway. The CV Transport AT is now ready to leave Skillon. More Work as soon as I pickup more Resources. Where ever that may be.
Today, I'm just gonna relax by the lake. Just posted it to the workshop this morning! https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2831763951
Once you figure out where the core is in the unfinished escape rocket on Dread, you can add your own core for some spectacular fun. I changed it's name accordingly: @ravien_ff do not ever change this.
Slowly but surely I carve... Then some more... and then Kablooey! Iiiiitttttsssss raaaaiiinnniiiinnnnn looooottt: Clickclickclickclickclickclickclickclickclickclickclick That just, never gets old.
I've been trying out the new start and jumping around the various moons via the teleporters in the Obelisk. I'm a bit confused about the big portal; Is it actually possible to turn the thing on somehow or are you just supposed to leave the old fashioned way?
I tried my hand again at building PvE PoI buster SV, while the server I play on was down for mainteance. It's not perfect, but it deffinitely feels better than what I built before.
Logged in with some actual interest (they Fixed the bit that put the lid on the bin last time). Came here and found RobotShark and Fractilite Still Here. Well Nice to see people again. Let's see if the interest sticks. Howdy folks.
I am still torn about the Dugong with it's hangar on the roof. Today I widened the upper hangars and also widened the HV bay on the bottom. Then it hit me, what if I put the bays on the bottom and guts of the CV on top? I have never made a build with a fly bridge. Mostly because I like to be able to see the trees when I am planetside (before I crash into them). So... The revamped Dugong with the rough draft to the side of it.
Still goofing around, the build looks like I strapped a ship on top of a plate and I succumbed to my usual design plan by putting in a lower cockpit so it can be piloted while looking out for trees. Since the top section is smaller than the bottom of the Dugong I have placed a number of devices between the hangars. ... which has me debating on expanding the hangars by 3 blocks. (sigh) at least HV's can use the bays now.
Finished tinkering with the new SW. I eventually fit in larger thrusters to sides and more RCS (since I reallised it's already T4, so I might as well use the CPU). Texturing is done and precise meneuvering mode set up. Now I'll have to modify my two larger CVs to be able to park this thing inside (enlarge hangar entrances on one and put in projectors for guidance for the other). It's got 4x gatling to not waste rockets on drones, 4x guided missiles and 4x missiles to de-fang the easier POIs and a shiled of course. Respactable cargo, so you can haul back your loot. It's not meant to fight without the shield up, so it's only made from steel, but has fast accel and boost to all 6 sides for quick disengage.
I found out I kinda despise scenarios.. at least the one I've played... Why is there No vanilla only US server? Anyone know of a vanilla server in the states that is likely to be there more than 3 weeks and isn't a remake of 30% of the games topography? Back to SSP and sticking blocks together.
Started work on a new SV, this time a more serious POI buster. Quad pulse laser, quad plasma cannons, quad rocket launchers, shield and warp, together with small pressurised compartment in the back for a squad of four. Front is plated in hardened steel. Container extenders are wrapped around the internal devices and serve as a kind of secondary plating. Excelent yaw, somewhat debatable pitch and roll, might need another pass at thruster positioning. The lack of different jet thruster sizes is annoying. Very little in terms of RCS, so I might swap some less needed thrusters for more RCS. Or I might take out Warp, even though my current carriers ( in the back) would have hard time accomodating it.
Tinkered with the SV again. Moved around some thrusters. Couldn't fit them exactly as I'd like, fue to their sheer lenght, but I managed to move 2 two out of four up / down jet thrusters to the sidepods... which are now not perfectly symmetrical, but I'll have to live with that. Also, I realised the 8x L T2 thrusters I had pointing back didn't really provide that much additional thrust (given the pods point 2x Jet II XL the same way) so I squished the extension of the back and only left 2x L T2 there. I also took out 2x L T2 facing front (so there are two remaining just like backwards) and added one L T2 thuster to the left / right and up / down directions. This effectively cut 4x L T2 thrusters from the SV and cut some mass too due to decreasing the size of the back part of the SV. This allowed me to include a protective layer of hardened steel behind the cockpit and pulse lasers, adding one more layer of defense for the internal devices. Additionaly, the SV now has at least one small thruster in each direction, allowing me to turn of fthe Jet thrusters and do just a small corrections for docking maneuvers. As a result, the handling improved a decent bit. Yaw is still by far the best, pitch remained pretty much the same (maybe a litter batter), with roll being now actually usuable , due to the off center jet thrusters pointing up and down. I tested a version without Warp with more RCS instead, but the amount of RCS I was able to put there while not going over T4 CPU limit was negligable, improving pitch/yaw/rall by no more than 5 deg/s. Seeing this I decided to keep the Warp instead, cause the ability to do an emeregency escape to another sector is much more valuable than almost non recognisable improvement in handling. With that I had some CPU to spare, so I increased the cargo space for ammo, since my testing showed the SV goes through it (especially for the rockets and plasma cannons) annoingly fast. I added a bit more "shape" to it, to reduce the amount of flat sections and textured it in my favourite (and now probably signature) combination of colours and textures.
After examining my two latest SVs (Valkyrie - the latest one with thrusters in pods; Einheri - the previous one ment for easier POIs) I realised there is no reason to really build and use Einheri, it's T4 just as Valkyrie, it's lvl 20, just like Valkyrie, and the difference in mats is not as big as I'd thing it will be. Basicaly, in the natural progression of game, by the time you can build Einheri... you really don't have a reason to. So, with heavy heart, I gutted and remodelled Einheri so it fits into T3. In the end, I managed to do that, but it cost me the shield (instead the SV got some hardened steel plating) and not an insignificant amount of thrust. I never really realised just how bloody much CPU the shield costs. I'm not satisfied with the result, but making any more changes would pretty much necessitate starting over completely so... maybe some other time.
Inspired by another HoverTank posted on reddit, I tried my hand at building it. I never really build HVs except for very early ones, so this was quite an interesting exercise. The result is functional, although there are already a few things I'd do differently in the future. It's like a rhino. Fast in straight line, but slow on the turn, packs a punch and sturdy as hell. This is pretty much the result of making the entire thing from combat steel and keeping it compact. Since it also has shields, I think it might be able to do the job. P.S. am I spamming too much? Or are others just not active?
@Demonic : that's looking really good! It's holiday time so fewer traffic... ---------------- Trying to find out how i can build my favoured Xseries ship in EGS... Will be a hard job to get it finished for XCals new contest. Ähh, yes it's an SV, you can call me a bit crasy
