So... it's simple. I want to design a dedicated combat CV for PE and while I understand the basics - combat / xeno steel, idealy low profile, tons of guns, good mobility and ideally decoy stuff far from critial components... there are some things that baffle me. For example, in one of the latest Spanj videos I noticed a spiked blocks inside his hull, is there a reason for them? Are there any other tips and tricks for building a good combat CV I might not be aware of?

    Thanks :)

If they are the blocks I'm thinking about, they were used for lag spike shots, where lag spikes can cause a projectile to pass through solid blocks and hit things in the middle of your ship. Not sure if that is still a thing and how bad it is now, I'm sure someone with more knowledge of this will say.

Oh... interesting. It was fairly recent build only recently appearing on Workshop, but it was Reforged Eden build so maybe it's more of an issue there? By the way can these Lag spike shots occur even through shield, or only on unshielded vessel?

Maybe its's an old vanilla build that has been redone for Reforged Eden.
I've seen Spanj use them in his past models, when he's been doing his Chill & Build vids.
I think Lag Spike Shots used to affect PVP more, but since I haven't played the game in a bit I don't know how bad Lag Spike Shots are now.
Lag Spike Shots used to go through shields as well, if I remember correctly.
